Urgh, I took tons of photos of her and none of them turned out well. Hopefully I can find time this week to get some better shots, 'cuz she's really a pretty gal.
After being amazed watching them and photographing them, the noise of a plane that passed through the sky frightened them and flew away.
You can see the bottom of the lake another flamingo flying.
It is a wonder to watch them fly.

Another "Not Chelsea" shot from my garden. These Geum's always give a wonderful display. I am so pleased with them as a plant that I bought a couple more in different colours this year to complement them.

Well, some of them.
A sight that should make some people reconsider their assumptions about the highest of the 'alps'. Beinn Ime's true character is revealed when viewed from the north, & is not at all similar to the relentless grassy slopes that loom over the A83 at Butterbridge or the long ramp seen by walkers on the Bealach a' Mhaim.
I'd actually began my retreat from heights, in the knowledge that the gin-clear morning was typically going to rapidly cloud over. The transitional period produced some great drama, with an age-old battle of light & shadow conjuring up this arresting sight.
The Polar Vortex is still on us, so my Polar Vortex series continues.
This is a bathtub shot taken today. Usually, I see Bohemian Waxwings in flocks. I was surprised to see this individual on a branch above my deck rail. There are some Mountain Ash Trees with berries still on them on my street. I hope this single one finds something to eat, and shelter for the night.
Shooting from a warm house into -30 + air poses some problems, I get heat distortion, and the warm lens doesn’t always focus properly. The dehaze feature in photoshop and Topaz Labs Sharpen AI helps to compensate.
When I begun to process this exposure bracketing, I thought that I knew what I wanted to attain. I was perfectly wrong. Indeed, these RAW files kept a few secret bits of beauty which I was not aware of when I selected them for processing – and they changed the course of the journey I had foreordained.
I was in a gloomy mood, for both personal and general concerns, and the RAWs looked rather duller than the average – taken: they appeared to accurately mirror the state of my soul. At worst, I would have wasted some hours of pointless procesing work before deciding to look for something better. Nobody would have known. However things were to contradict my expectations. I got some good news (a rarity in those tough days) about the health conditions of my brother and my “adopted brother-in-law” (i.e. my brother’s brother-in-law); on the other hand, Darktable – that wonderful software – gifted me with a few unanticipated treasures. My thoughts were growing more and more positive and the processing of this bracketing were proceeding accordingly: a hidden beauty was unfolding before me, my own persisting unawareness of it notwithstanding. At last I found myself with a picture that had apparently self-processed itself*, while I was busy exploring uncharted thoughts that kept emerging along the way
* Admittedly a bizarre phenomenon, which Maurits Cornelius Escher would have loved – think of his Drawing hands.
I would avoid to nag you about this incredibly wonderful location: you can take a look at my album Silent banks, the complete collection of the photos I have taken there; the attached narratives are rich in information about the place, if you are curious enough.
This location is especially renowned for its legendary morning mists, but only a thin layer of milky mist floated above the water that morning. On top of the hill in the distance, beyond the river, lays the sanctuary of the Madonna della Rocca ( = Madonna of the Rock), already brushed by the first light pouring from the Eastern horizon.
I have obtained this picture by blending an exposure bracketing [-1.7/0/+1.7 EV] by luminosity masks in the Gimp (EXIF data, as usual, refer to the "normal exposure" shot), then, as usual, I added some final touches with Nik Color Efex Pro 4.
I tried the inverted RGB blue channel technique described by Boris Hajdukovic as a possible final contribution to the processing. While this technique (which, its imposing name notwithstanding, is pretty simple to implement) often holds interesting results in full daylight landscapes, its effects on a low-light capture (e.g. a sunrise) are utterly unpredictable, so at the end of my workflow I often give it a try to ascertain its possibilities. In this picture I have exploited this technique in a very frugal, yet effective, way – just some touches where needed.
RAW files has been processed with Darktable. Denoising with DFine 2 and the Gimp (denoised and original images blended by lightness).
I already uploaded the photos of Zao district in October and the next I introduce the photos which were taken in November.

First time photographing one of these although I've seen them distant before, it came really close and for a few minutes had a nice low sun shining on it.
The Red-breasted Merganser is a medium-sized diving duck with a slim, serrated bill adapted for catching fish. Females have a grey body, a warm chestnut-brown head with a slightly shaggy crest, and a pale throat. This species is typically found on coastal waters, estuaries, and large inland lochs, where it feeds by diving and pursuing fish underwater. Red-breasted Mergansers are strong, fast flyers and are often seen in small groups, especially outside the breeding season.
Early morning walk through the cemetery at the local church in Prescot near to my home. The display of Forget me not is a lovely site to see at this time of year.

The American White Pelican, frequently spoken of as "THE CLOUD DANCER” representing their graceful, soaring flight in groups, often moving together in the sky. The White Pelican is a masterpiece of natural avionic architecture, a creature of stark, snowy elegance and of prehistoric size. On the water, it sits high and buoyant like a regal white galleon. In the air, it transforms into a master of the thermals with its massive 9-foot wingspan tipped with ink-black flight feathers that only reveal themselves in motion.
Unlike its rugged, salt-sprayed cousin the Brown Pelican, the White Pelican possesses a luminous, pristine plumage that seems to glow even on overcast days. It's most striking feature is the massive tangerine-orange bill, which during the breeding season, develops a strange keratinous horn on the upper ridge...a temporary crown that gives the bird a mythical, archaic appearance.
On the water they dip their pouched bills to scoop up fish, or tip-up like an oversized dabbling duck. Sometimes, groups of pelicans work together to herd fish into the shallows for easy feeding. Look for them on inland lakes in summer and near coastlines in winter.
When they move, they do so with a quiet, synchronized grace. Watching a flock circling and soaring in a tight rising column high above the California landscape is a hypnotic experience, as the CLOUD DANCERS alternate between brilliant white to sudden black with every tilt of their black tipped wings against the deep blue sky.
It was all about some politicians! Not for All..
They talk bigger...pledges for better and so mnay things...
But in reality what they do or implement is less less than they gave word!
I saw them making their way, exploring the world hand in hand, seeing the world through each other's eyes. Love is the best destination.

Saw them around February and they are still here!!
They migrate from the Rann of Kutch (c.1900 kms from here) in Nov-Dec. As late as until 2011, barely six individuals were seen here and in the last 4 years the place is just besprinkled as it were in pink (with some counts mentioning a no. as high as 500). At least for the last 2 years, the stay is well extended too.
Corn leaves.
Apparently corn leaves can be dried and a herbal tea made from them. Other uses include flavouring beer, grinding into flour to make porridge, bread and cornmeal pancakes.

unburden myself stone by stone, and I will look at them in the light and perhaps they will no longer weigh so heavily.
Love them or hate them, these Rose Ringed Parakeet's are with us to stay. This bird was filling up on apples at my local reserve. I have to confess they are a stunning bird , but also one of the noisiest.
Some folks just don't get it when I tell them I like trains. It's most difficult to put into words. They just scratch their heads, smile, and say, "Cool." This place in eastern Quebec would make them understand. All you need to do is park by the station in Cookshire and wait. Wait all day if you have to! Soon, from the west the sound of a gentle breeze is heard. It gets louder, stronger, until that wind appears round the corner in the distance. The bells clang, the horn wails, headlight blinding, and Canadian Pacific extra 4209 east roars by you at a pace that one must witness, less describe. The station appears as if it's walls will bounce from it's foundation. The 100lb jointed rail drums a steady pace so loud your ears want to pop. Pebbles bounce. Dust and blue smoke mingle together clogging your lungs. The locomotives notch it out as they slam into the sharp curve to your right and power the tonnage up the steep grade laying ahead. No less than 80 freight cars later a dirty yellow van sails by with a hand out the window waving furiously, and that too, slams into the curve to your right and vanishes into fading light of the afternoon. Once it all settles down, the earth and your heart, like an amusement park ride, you want to get on it again. You have become a rail fan.

Like Taj Mahal, Statue of Liberty is one of most beautiful man made structure which is amazingly beautiful to look at from any side and any angle. A photographer is enthusiastic even after a hundred shot.

Another common bird at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge is the White-faced Ibis. Every morning when approaching the refuge, we saw large flocks of them flying around looking for the best places to forage. It's a bit tricky to get a good shot of one though. The brightness and angle of light has to be just right to get the iridescence to show up on their plumage and
to illuminate their namesake white face.

Most of them were built between the 15th and the 16th century, but construction continued also from the late 18th century into the early 20th century. They were primarily used to mill wheat mostly by wealthy families, while many windmills also belonged to the monasteries of the island.
I laid out some dried sunflower seed heads in my backyard, hoping to photograph birds as they pecked at them, but the squirrels carried them away. This one brought it up to a branch to munch on before taking it home.
In the Royal Palace of Madrid, some street lamps ("farolas" in Spanish language) with symbolic decoration have been restored.
Here you can see one of them, in the Plaza de la Armería, where you can see several crowns, a fleur-de-lis and some pine cones.
The fleur-de-lis is a symbol that takes us back to ancient times with the mythical King Solomon and the no less mythical Queen of Sheba.
It is considered a symbol of royalty, found on the coats of arms of several royal dynasties, such as the Bourbon dynasty, which continues to rule in Spain and others.
The fleur-de-lis is part of the coat of arms of several cities, such as Paris, Darmstadt, Elda, Lincoln (UK) or Wiesbaden.
In some cases it is also considered a religious symbol, representing the Virgin Mary and the religious military order of Santiago. And it is part of the coats of arms of the families of several Popes.
It is also considered an alchemical and Masonic symbol.
It even appears in some mafia (mob) organizations: it was adopted by the Hachel Mafia, known as the Virgin Escribana, as an emblem in the 17th century.
In Germany, more specifically in the municipality of Hachelbich, their meetings were held.
Any person not affiliated with the Hachel Mafia who tried to stop them from achieving their goals ended up brutally murdered.

Aquí se puede ver una de ellas, en plena Plaza de la Armería en la que se pueden ver varias coronas, una flor de lis y algunas piñas.
La flor de lis es un símbolo que nos lleva a tiempos ancestrales con el mítico rey Salomón y la no menos mítica reina de Saba.
Se considera un símbolo de realeza, que se encuentra en los escudos de varias dinastías reales, como la dinastía borbónica, que sigue gobernando en España y otras.
La flor de lis forma parte del escudo de varias ciudades, como París, Darmstadt, Elda, Lincoln (UK) or Wiesbaden.
En algunos casos también se considera un símbolo religioso, que representa a la Virgen María y a la orden religioso militar de Santiago. Y forma parte de los escudos de las familias de varios Papas.
También se considera un símbolo alquímico y masónico.
Incluso aparece en algunas organizaciones mafiosas: fue adoptado por la Mafia Hachel, conocida como la Virgen Escribana, como emblema en el siglo XVII.
