Vietnam's President, Truong Tan Sang inspects the guard of honor during a welcoming ceremony at the Parliament Square in Kuala Lumpur September 28, 2011.
One for the album, with my friend from Radio Television Malaysia RTM and BERNAMA Malaysian National News Agency Chief Photographer Mustaza Mohd Yusoff during an assignment in Montevideo Uruguay covering our King Official State Visit to Uruguay.
While waiting for the welcoming ceremony of the visiting Vietnam'e President, to begin at Parliament parking lot, my friend took my picture.
We do enjoy our job so much, seen in this picture is Bazuki from REUTERS with songkok, Lai Seng from Associated Press AP (Facing Bazuki), at the background with beautiful reflective sunglasses is Glenn Guan from The Star and Ahmad Yusni from European Pressphoto Agency EPA (with Red tie) and me "not in the picture" because I'm busy taking this photograph.
Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak presents Budget 2012 at the parliament house in Kuala Lumpur October 7, 2011.
Visiting Vietnam's President Truong Tan Sang (Left with Blue Tie) walks with Malaysia's King Sultan Mizan (R), during the state welcoming ceremony at Parliament Square in Kuala Lumpur September 28, 2011.
*Usually this event took place in the morning but this time this event took place in the afternoon where the sun is on the left side of this picture hence you can see a strong harsh light falls on Sang's wife Mai Thi Hanh (2nd row, L), and Malaysia's Queen Nur Zahirah (2nd row, R). Even a direct flash can't correct this problem but this is photojournalism, we record the event just the way we saw it happen. I can wait until all of them walking on the same level but then again their face will be hidden behind.
World Series by Renault at Donington Park. Race 2 on the Sunday, the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. There was a collision and and this guy (I believe he's Fabio LEIMER) made contact and was sent into a spectacular multiple roll. Thankfully he got out safely and was able to walk away. (Fifth in series of 5 pictures).
Quite busy and tired day for me today, chasing Minister of Information, Communications, Arts and Culture Rais Yatim, giving away free "Jalur Gemilang" our National Flag all over jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Masjid India ( to the shop owner ). I'm glad at least we have our Teh Tarik session, thanks to the Minister...
A last minute dash to finish The Assignment after a change of deadline! The brief was to try and capture mood and emotion using a range of techniques (light, mono conversion etc), and to interpret a song, album or movie title. I hope this has a dreamy feel to some extent - that was the aim of the blue light!
I used an off camera flash with a blue gel in a softbox high camera right, with a honeycombed bare flash to fill the center of the image with a warmer tone.
Vietnam's President, Truong Tan Sang inspected a guard-of-honour mounted by four officers and 103 men from the First Batallion of the Royal Malay Regiment, followed by the firing of a 21-gun salute during a welcoming ceremony at the Parliament Square in Kuala Lumpur September 28, 2011.
I still remember quite clearly back in the 1993 when I bought my first photography magazine, here at this stall, Outdoor Photographer Magazine, on the cover is an Owl, tight shot taken by Art Wolfe . Actually at that time I don't even have a camera but I like to do my homework, buying photography magazine so when I've enough money to buy a camera, I've some basic knowledge and I know which camera to buy and how to operate it. I don't remember whether I bought it from this uncle but definitely I bought my first photography magazine here. Location of this small magazine stall is in front of Collisium at jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman Kuala Lumpur.
During my earlier exposure to Photography field, my idols are Art Wolfe | Galen Rowell | Jim Brandenburg | none of them are famous with portrait but Landscape and Nature. Time has change, now I'm more interested in portraiture than landscape and nature...
A little bit about the picture, Minister of Information, Communications, Arts and Culture, Rais Yatim giving away our National Flag "Jalur Gemilang" to the magazine seller in conjunction of our Independence day which will fall on this coming 31st August.
Photograph taken during my assignment at Prime Minister Office in Putrajaya outside Kuala Lumpur during Welcoming Ceremony of Visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabo to Malaysia. This photograph were taken right after joint Press conference of the two leaders at the rostrum behind.
I'm not the only Official Photographers on that day, but proud to be "One of Them" :-)

The Assignment ~ Module 5 ~ Movement in the elements
I'm stretching the brief a little here, but I figure that this heron wouldn't be taking flight without disturbing the air, so there is an implicit movement of one of the elements (rather like a flag blowing, or the blades of a windmill turning, though in this case it's the birds wings that are causing the movement and not the other way round).
I know it's very noisy and abstract - but that's also working for me here - the ghostly nature of the heron is almost ethereal and reminiscent of a misty airyness.
ISO 800, f5.6 @1/10s (70mm zoom) - It was almost dark when I got the opportunity to shoot this, so had to pull all the stops out to capture it!
Being a Photographer as a chosen career will not make you rich in term of materialistic but there is more in life than being rich. I'm quite happy with the experience that I gain as a photographers, it never cross in my mind to be here far away from my home country in Santiago Chile.
I just want to inspire young people that being a photographer wasn't bad at all... :-)
L for Lightbox.
Sarah asked me along to North Queensferry to see if we could capture another sunset. There is another oft photographed view, taken of an anchor in the foreground with the rail bridge in the background. On this occasion though, three wonderful local girls took to climbing it and I realised that this could work beautifully as a largely silhouetted image with the sunset and road bridge behind. Well done girls for staying so still for a whopping 15 seconds!
The Assignment 2011, Module 3 - shooting at dawn and sunset. The challenge is to capture an image of a silhouette against a sunset sky. In this case the subjects have been brushed with the light of a nearby street lamp.
26mm, manual, ISO 100, f16 @ 15 secs.
The new Cambridge guided bus route. I decided the shot was a bit boring so took it at an angle. I am not sure it helps?
The scheme links the city of Cambridge, in East Anglia, with St Ives, Huntingdon and Northstowe (a proposed new town) to the north-west, and with the M11 motorway to the south. The route includes two sections of guided operation, a bus-only road and other places with on-street operation in conventional bus lanes. New park and ride sites have been built at Longstanton and at St Ives. The final scheme includes bus priority and real-time passenger information system displays at busway bus stops.
The project was budgeted to cost £116.2 million
Cambridgeshire County Council announced it was budgeting £1 million per year to cover potential ongoing costs associated with the busway.

This bridge at Cambridge Station is a bit of a gift when it comes to 'lines and curves'.

Tada! Aggie Yukio herself! I tried to give her a slightly more realistic appearance...I'm not so sure how that worked out. Anyway, enjoy!
