A wide angle view across the Thames from the north bank at low tide takes in the imposing structure of The Shard and the Tate Modern. Think how much this vista has changed in the last 20 years - the Millennium Bridge was only on a sheet of paper, The Shard hadn't even been conceived, the Tate Modern was being repurposed from its previous role as Bankside powerstation.

What makes this image for me is the sky - the long exposure and wide angle make the leading lines of the clouds converge to create drama in an otherwise calm scene

The Thames Travel of Wallingford fleet (part of the Go-Ahead Group) operate in Didcot as 'Connector' and 'Didcot Connections'. Buses in the two-tone grey livery include Scania N230UD/ADL Enviro400s, Wright Streetlites, Wright Streetdecks and Mercedes-Benz Citaros. Examples of each were captured in Didcot in April 2019.

We’d already been tipped off in the pre Photo 24 facebook chat that a group called the London Fire Spinners would be performing on the beach next to the Oxo Tower. This turned out to be a nice sandy beach located on the South Bank of the Thames. It’s only visible at low tide.

There must have been well over 100 people practicing in the hot afternoon sun with spinning sticks, balls on chains, jugglers’ batons and various paraphernalia. As twilight approached they’d lit their props and the beach was alive with fire.

I was busy taking this long exposure thames panorama when one of the spinners walked into the frame with a lit pair of orbs. Sometimes the luck is with you.

These buildings are next to the SIS Building (Secret Intelligence Service), also commonly known as the MI6 Building, only separated by Vauxhall Bridge. Not sure what they are but guessing they are flats.

Well, I went for B&W with this one. Shame the sky was so plain. Oh well.

Thames Bus operated in the Surrey area between 2002 and 2003, operating many of its services under contract to Surrey County Council. Their work included lots of Sunday services and one-day-a-week services meaning they had a large network coverage despite having a relatively small fleet of vehicles.

The company was founded by Martijn Gilbert (aged only 19!) and it was sold to Centra in 2003 after their network was cut apart following Sunday service cuts by SCC.

Here, fictional Enviro200 MMC YX20ODZ is seen on route 437, following its old route through to Chertsey, wearing the Thames Bus livery. I've tried to make the vehicle look even smarter by adding alloy wheels with coloured hubs and front wheel trim. The wingmirrors are yellow to complement the livery and I've borrowed the interior from the Scotrail Enviro200MMC as was best fit with the colours!

A 2nd shot from my first outing with my new Tiffen ND3 10 stop.

I only captured 6 shots during this mini wander as this filter is pretty time consuming to use…i love the effect that it gives though so well worth the extra effort!!

The River Thames is the major England river, it's very famous because its lower reaches flow through central London.

This was taken a few weeks before the fire incident on a dukw on the Thames...despite the years of great service and fun provided by these vehicles in many cities...Liverpool and London notably...recent incidents have cast a shadow on their futures...particularly in Liverpool, where they are currently banned from operation: a sad thing, but it must be understood how terrifying it must be to have to swim for your life!!! Nevertheless,I really hope that the Dukws will once again be seen splashing down in the Salthouse Dock at Liverpool next year.
