I wandered the Fine Arts Festival with a camera a few weeks ago, looking for details. (See previous set of pics.) Stopped in one uncrowded booth where the art was medicore but the lighting as great, and shot a few macro shots of the paint texture. The artist interrupted and asked what I was photographing. I tried to explain, but she interrupted with a monologue about how she doesn't allow photography of her art, because "the Japanese" are stealing it. (My guess is they're borrowing from the same Thomas Kincaide style that she is.) I apologized, noted that we were in public space (therefore free to photograph) and there were no signs posted requesting otherwise, but that I would honor her request and leave. She told me that I needed to delete my pictures. I declined, not ready to sacrifice my art for hers. (Which led to a whole different confrontation with a random woman who wanted to start an argument about whether I had the right to take pictures on a public street, but that's a story more pathetic than interesting, and I have no photo to document it.) And so here you have it, flickr fans, and if you can "steal" the artist's work from this kind of photo, have at it. (I didn't even note her name to give her "credit" for her paranoia - like I said, the paintings were rather unremarkable.)
Please feel free to download these textures and use as you wish and I would love to see what you have done with it, so please post up your results.

I loved the texture of the stone embankment and the moss clinging to the shelf. Life just cannot be repressed. It's better in lightbox. Canon 5D Mark ii. Brevard North Carolina

This pattern is the Textured Shawl which is available for free through Ravelry. The yarn I used is called Autumn Mosaic and was a club yarn through Nuturing Fibres. Thanks for looking!!
work created with multiples layers of textures and blending modes in Photoshop and various other manipulations and tricks ...
Or could this be Shape? Oh, I really suck at that class. Anyway, yeah, I like this photo nonetheless... It's the footprints of all the people that have walked through that park over time. Vert artsy.

Four thousand years of history leave an indelible mark: deep traditions, folklore, and language interwoven in a complex fabric. This series is a homage to Chinese culture as witnessed through the deep colours, detailed patterns and rich textures that surround the physical and metaphysical space of China.
