View under a brick bridge of moored boats reflected in the water of a canal, Venice, Italy. The reflections in the canal create abstract, colorful patterns.
Have a great day/night everyone.

It has become a tradition for us in the last few years to hike in a park either Christmas Day or New Years Day. This year we hiked in the Bruce Peninsula National Park on New Years Day. The scene never gets old for us. Luckily we just had a fresh snowfall the night before! We haven't seen the ice on the lakes for several winters and the lake levels are very high compared to any other year I have been here. This new decade promises to give us more time to keep up with old traditions and to start a few new ones. Enjoy your traditions.
I wonder, if we ever think of each other at the same time ..

"My eyes are never bored
for my life is full of art.
On a couch I see a scene
from a Storybook I read.
I follow lines and circles
drawing with my finger.
Patterns in the world
turn to patterns in my head

“You are but a tiny cluster upon the vines of heaven, where the grapes are worlds; yet you hold the power to ripen your bitter berries and add to the eternal vintage of cosmic sweetness if so you will.”

“August was nearly over - the month of apples and falling stars, the last care-free month for the school children. The days were not hot, but sunny and limpidly clear - the first sign of advancing autumn.”
― Victor Nekrasov
Alcea is a genus of about 60 species of flowering plants in the mallow family Malvaceae, commonly known as the hollyhocks. They are native to Asia and Europe.
Hollyhocks are annual, biennial, or perennial plants usually taking an erect, unbranched form. The herbage usually has a coating of star-shaped hairs. The leaf blades are often lobed or toothed, and are borne on long petioles. The flowers may be solitary or arranged in fascicles or racemes. The notched petals are usually over three centimeters wide and may be pink, white, purple, or yellow. The fruit is a schizocarp, a dry disc divided into over 15 sections that contain seeds.
"The little boy nodded at the peony and the peony seemed to nod back. The little boy was neat, clean and pretty. The peony was unchaste, dishevelled as peonies must be, and at the height of its beauty.(...) Every hour is filled with such moments, big with significance for someone."
