Tetouan, Morocco - This sewing shop was a colorful and cheerful highlight in what was otherwise a long, dreary, rainy day trip over to Morocco from the Costa del Sol, Spain. I was amazed by the tiny size of almost every shop we saw. This photo captures nearly all of the rear wall, the sides being not much different in size. These vendors really know how to utilize space well.

Medina Chefchaouen 30/06/2022 17h56

Just an impression of the narrow and blue streets of Chefchaouen. I can't find the exact location anymore, maybe that's also nice.

Chefchaouen

Chefchaouen (Arabic: شفشاون, romanized: Shafshāwan), also known as Chaouen, is a city in northwest Morocco. It is the chief town of the province of the same name and is noted for its buildings in shades of blue, for which it is nicknamed the "Blue City". Chefchaouen is situated just inland from Tangier and Tétouan.

It was founded as a military outpost shortly before the Spanish Reconquista of Granada, and its population grew quickly with Muslim and Jewish immigrants fleeing from Spain. The economy is based on a traditional agro-pastoral system with olive and fig plantations; numerous water mills for grinding grain and olives; a handicrafts sector focusing on leather, iron, textiles, and carpentry; and summer-dominated tourism.

The city of Chefchaouen is located at about 600 metres (2,000 ft) above sea level in the foothills of the Kaʻala mountain in the western part of the Rif mountain range, in northwestern Morocco. The province of Chefchaouen is among the largest in Morocco, with an area of 3,443 km2.

Cap Spartel 06/07/2023 12h36

A special place in the area of Tanger is this cape. The northwesternmost point of the African continent.

Cap Spartel

Cape Spartel (Arabic: رأس سبارطيل, Moroccan Arabic: أشبرتال, French: Cap Spartel, Spanish: Cabo Espartel) is a promontory in Morocco about 1,000 feet (300 m) above sea level at the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar, 12 km west of Tangier. It is the northwesternmost point of the African continent. Below the cape are the Caves of Hercules.

According to Mohamed Chafik, the name of this location is derived from Latin spartium, which is the name of a plant genus (Spanish broom).

The cape rises to a height of 326 m. at the top of Jebel Quebir, where a lighthouse built by Sultan Muhammad IV in 1864 is situated at the end of a cliff.

Renovation of the whole Cape Spartel site was started in 2020 and completed in 2021. It is now open to the public and includes a maritime museum, restaurant, botanical garden and an event space. Visitors can also access the top of the lighthouse to enjoy the stunning view of the strait of Gibraltar. Cape Spartel is accessible from the National Road S701.

Avenue Hassan II | Paloma Blanca 19/09/2025 18h44

An evening stroll, following our own ideas and feelings. We wanted to walk to Paloma Blanca to see what was there. Naturally, there was a white dove in the middle of a roundabout. And the bustling square was lined with a few pompous Brutalist buildings.

Tétouan wurde im Reiseführer als ursprünglich und gut organisiert gelobt, wir empfanden es eher als langweilig.
