I'm testing a new-to-me Rollei RPX100 film. MDC gives 9 mins for Rodinal 1+25. I tried it before but it was way too hot for the highlights. Here I've reduced the dev time to 7:30 mins. It looks a lot better to me.

Did a lighting test for an idea, and didn't have anyone to stand-in for me, so I had to do it myself. Six strobes, various kinds (3 alien bee, 2 JTL, 1 Sunpak 120j) I have enough strobes for four rows, but not enough slaves to trigger some of the lights, so I had to settle on six lights.
I like the effect, and will like it even more when I have a handsome/beautiful model in front of the lights instead of, erm, me.
A small test piece I created to test the slat deployment mechanism. The challenge was translating push-pull spanwise motion to chordwise motion. The solution was creating spanwise stip that pushes thin strips of paper along a curved (90º) paper track. The resulting mechanism makes for incredibly precise and synchronized motions across multiple slat tracks at the same time (=SUCCESS!)

just testing the DOF on my yashic D ... not a very interesting shot but i liked it for some reason ... pity the crabs weren't out and about instead of hiding in their little houses!
Let me be upfront--I was never in the military; I was not qualified to serve. However, I found this jacket at a flea market and it fit quite nicely. I purchased the knit hat a short time later.
Press "L" for the lightbox view.
Now, onto the motivation for the shot. Basically, I wanted to test out different techniques I thought I might use if a person serving in the military asked me to do a portrait of them. After trying several variations, I decided I liked having one light boomed overhead. It seemed to capture and convey the toughness of a soldier and the thread of darkness and regret that comes from having to make tough decisions with lasting consequences.
I originally shot this on a blank wall and posted it in color, but I thought it might look interesting with a bit of texture behind me and converted to black & white with a tint to it.
strobist: 1 Canon 580EX, boom above subject, diffused by a 14" Lumodi beauty dish with the Warm Titanium finish. Flash triggered via Cybersyncs. Camera triggered via RC-1.
Glued up a fork, faced & reamed the HT, crown race seat, and ST, then flung a headset, seatpost, and saddle onto it and took it for a short brakeless ride up and down the street to see if it would explode.
Spoiler: it didn't.
It's got at least 75mm of BB drop, which is a lot for 650b. I might have to melt off the seatstays and use the 2×4 of gentle adjustment to bend the seatstays down 10mm, then make another fork with matching extra A-C, but I'll mull it over for a while first (the fork is a nice light one that's a close fit on a 42mm tire, so I may want to get a larger crown and pull some more side-to-side clearance for paranoia's sake nevertheless.)
