Army National Guard Soldiers from five states and Washington, D.C. conduct the land navigation portion of the Region II Best Warrior Competition May 29, 2015, at Fort Pickett, Va. The Virginia National Guard hosted this year’s competition, which included a Soldier and noncommissioned officer from Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C., for a total of 12 candidates. The competition spans three days and tests Soldiers and NCOs on mental and physical prowess, and includes an Army Physical Fitness Test, a six mile road march, weapons qualification, several Army Warrior Tasks and requires competitors to answer questions before a board of senior NCOs. The winning Soldier and NCO from the regional competition will advance to the national competition, representing their region against the best competitors in the nation. From the left to the right with a raw file exposure adjustment, a desaturation and then a little contrast boost for taste. If I hadn't used the raw file format and I got a shot like the one on the left, It would have been a bin job I think. I'm sold on this raw idea now, especially for infrared.

Test-driving this model for Amy - thrilled with how it came out. I'll definitely make this again! There is so much crap shoved into the flange to make it spring, and I could have definitely used a bit heavier stock for the spine core, but it WORKS. I love the non-color of that leather too.

this may look like an accident (and to be sure, the emulsion was applied sloppily), but this is actually a very good thing. i decided that i wasn unhappy with the last successful screen i made, so i am back to experimenting with exposures and positives. this time i used transparencies and overlapped two to see if a doubled image would make for a better exposure. it totally did (note the section from the T through the O in motico). anyway, this is of marginal interest to most people but since i had such a hard time finding photos of the screen printing process, I thought i should post some
