Well a few days ago I bought my first speedlite. Yesterday I went to the woods for testing out the speedlite and learning how to use it.
This is one of the first shots.. Originally I bought it for portrait photography, to replace my Ikea lamp used for portrait pictures, but as I don't have models walking in and out of my house..
So, I liked the lightning and the midnight feel.. It was taken in bright sunlight.
I'll hope you like it to as this isn't a typical photo of me :)
PP: I cropped it a little bit an added a little touch of contrast.. So as good as OOC.

I bought a remote! :) I took some self-portraits to test it out and I think I'm happy with it!
I feel like venting so let's begin.
Top 3 Pet Peeves:
1) LIES. Honesty is the number one quality I look for in all people. If you're dishonest, expect me to keep you at bay. If you lie to me, I guarantee it will be a struggle for me to get over and things might never be the same. Take that as a warning. Lies are stupid; just don't do it.
2) Being judged before people get to know me. I don't always make the best first impressions. I can be shy, awkward, and even moody if you catch me at a bad time. As a general rule, I tend to be most outgoing around outgoing people. I can honestly say that I don't dislike anyone. I'll never intentionally do you wrong and I'll try to be the best person I can be.
3) Finding out through a third party that someone was criticizing me behind my back. If you have something to say about me, good or bad, say it to me directly. I'll respect you more that way. It's also less hurtful.
So I realized this doesn't suit my picture at all... haha! I'm happy, just kind of frustrated.
I bought a new Jake Gyllenhaal head sculpt! It's a pretty good sculpt but it's not as good as the original, in my opinion!
NR54 is seen here undertaking signal testing and commissioning at Table Top as the shadows of the day lengthen.
The loco has just departed the new Up Home Signal, EH6 towards Tynan Road.
The line on the right hand side is the new 3,200m arrival road for the Ettamogah Rail Hub.

I got a wooden doll pattern and decided to make a test doll. I really like how she turned out. I altered the design a bit. More photos to come!
She's a mini version about 8" tall, the full version is about 18". I'm in the process of making 3 more and getting into wood carving.
Pattern was taken from a McCall's doll from the 1800's?

Testing out a new lab for my film scanning (Richard Photo Lab in Los Angeles). Also shot my first roll of Ektar 100 film. Beautiful stuff! I exposed at rated speed, plus 1/2 and 1 stop over. Highlights remained fine throughout. Slightly more grain in the shadows when shot at rated rather than overexposing, but it was pretty minimal. In this small test I didn't see any compelling reason to shoot at one stop over like many films seem to need. The grain is minimal in all of the images. Beautiful stuff! Oh wait, I said that. And the Fuji Frontier scanner seems to do a nice job too. Will compare by scanning with my Epson 4990 and see what I'm getting for money money. Not big files unfortunately…we're talking 8x10 territory here, max print size.
Update 09/23/10: It took me near an hour to get the same neg scanned with (close to) the same look and quality using my Epson 4990. Mind you, I suck at color correction. But right there it becomes good value.
Test shoot with a potential new model at TCPG (Twin Cities Photo Group) studios in the lovely Midway section between St. Paul and Minneapolis.
Rather than taking photos of all 50+ current Mascoteers, I had the idea to try my hand at rendering the models.
Right now I'm struggling with the lighting and materials used on the model. Left to right shows the progress made so far.
