Dan, Acle and Jay talk with their guide Janne about how to harvest ice blocks from the River.

A gigantic igloo, thought to be the world’s biggest and spanning the equivalent of 3.5 double decker buses near Yllas village, Finland, was transformed into an ice stage for the world’s first gig on an igloo.

The show saw UK progressive rock band, TesseracT perform on top of the immense snow structure for the Jägermeister Ice Cold Gig, which puts artists to the test as they perform in unconventional, ice cold conditions.

Designed these with clay/metal clay pendants in mind. I made some jewelry in the lead up to FaerieCon using air dry clay and some of our other stamps, so Loden thought we should have some smaller stamps for the purpose.

Unfortunately, the vulcanizer wasn't able to get us the sheets in time for the show... but we are looking forward to using them!

GLOW - International Forum of Light in Art and Architecture

Eindhoven 2013 - 8th Edition - 'Urban Playground'

From November, 9th to 16th 2013, the city center of Eindhoven turns again into a forum of interventions, installations, performances and events based on the phenomena of artificial light.

Artist: 1024 Architecture

Location: Kanaalstraat

About the project:

In mathematics, the tesseract is the four-dimensional version of the cube. What the square is to the cube, the cube is the tesseract. The French collective 1024 architecture uses light to bring to life this dynamic shape.

Scores of projectors mounted in an open scaffold construction are able to turn in any direction. Within the cube shape, the spotlights evoke a futuristic world. The work of 1024 architecture is in fact no longer sculpture but motion itself: an ever-evolving state of shape and space of which the spectator is a part.

The installation offers us a new way of seeing the urban environment and literally invests everyday reality with an extra dimension. Like the cube, all the fixed shapes are translated into a fourth dimension. And how would the world look then?

About: We began with the mars rovers, watching NASA bps videos, ending with curiosity. Having learned about Mars and what was needed for living there we looked at the Mars 2030 protocol, the NASA plans and options for long term and short term trips, preloaded rockets with supplies and brainstormed about how things might work, which view worked well and how a colony might actually look - and using the data we already had.

Not entirely certain of this plant's lineage; I wish I knew more.

I'm considering crossing it back onto a Norton indigo form to see what would happen to the concentric barring the Norton indigo strain seems to lack; would the saturation of the indigo type strengthen the barring or simply erase it by filling in the blanks?

About: Tesseract Students took their art to the sky for a second time to wrap the Saturn V rocket in art. Exploring Women's contributions to science and invention students celebrated the accomplishment of women who have lead the way in developing concepts still used today. From Chocolate Chip cookies to Kevlar vests Women have continued to make our world a wonderful and safe place to live.

Students also examined the top ten accomplishments/innovations of Space and aeronautics and created panels that reflect achievement that not only

got us to the stars but keep us looking and traveling there.

Students further examined key components of innovation for science and math in applications from fuel to individual spacecraft travel as we look to further the 21C in current components for space inventions.

Loki, his scepter and the Tesseract would explain a lot...

For some reason lately, I have been infatuated with the Tesseract. A tesseract, or 'Hypercube' is a 3-space representation of a 4-space cube.

For this one, the number of sphere lights really limited the amount of samples I could use. Generally, for a finished product, I go with aa 3 3 and 32 path samples in Sunflow. (Much higher than is really necessary, but I like the amount of detail and clarity that such high settings provide) I initially started rendering this with aa 3 3 and 4 path samples, but after 24 hours, it had only rendered 14%. I dropped it down to 1 path sample with aa 3 3, and while there is still a bit of noise, it took just under 10 hours, so I guess I can live with the results...
