The Terminator crashed my daughter's wedding reception.

Gotta love slow shutter speed, hand held shots of motion.

What if I described seagull identification as "The Terminating Angel"?

The phrasing is reminiscent of surrealist art and film, like Luis Buñuel's 1962 film 'The Exterminating Angel'. In the film, a group of people at a dinner party are inexplicably unable to leave, and the "exterminating angel" is a METAPHOR for the forces that expose the baser human instincts of the trapped aristocrats.

In this vein, the "terminating angel" for seagull identification could suggest the end of a familiar illusion - the process of definitive gull ID could represent the point at which a casual observer's simple understanding of "SEAGULL" is broken down and replaced with a more complex, specific reality (e.g., this isn't just a seagull, it's a Western Gull, and here are its unique characteristics). Or it could personify the identification process itself as a higher power that, with a final, terminal flourish, brings an end to all uncertainty about the bird's identity.

In some cultures, a seagull symbolizes the transition between LIFE and DEATH. In this view the act of identification could be interpreted as moving from a state of not knowing to a state of definitive knowledge, the end of one state and the birth of another.

It's so true then, as Rainer Maria Rilke once wrote...every angel is terrifying.

Or.

A happy accident.

Your choice :)

This sort of thing is a bit of a select taste, but it appeals to my chromatic minimalism neural tingly-bits...

Besides, I rather like the diffraction rainbows on the arc edges too. We just have to share the delight in those don't we?

For the Crazy Tuesday Red theme.

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Crazy Tuesday!!

Sorry it took so long to get pics done of this guy, It took me longer to get his alternate heads repainted and ready to go.

60 063 with 6F38 06.31 Fiddlers Ferry Power Station to Liverpool Bulk Terminal passes Winwick with a sprinkling of snow on the ground with a train of discharged hoppers. Services from the bulk terminal terminated on 28 April 2015 with coal deliveries in general ceasing in December 2015. An announcement on the future of the power station is due shortly.

An unidentified Class 116 DMU stands in platform 2 at Birmingham Moor Street awaiting departure with a service for Shirley on a very snowy 9th February 1985. This side of Moor Street was closed two years later when the connection to Snow Hill was restored, with new platforms and facilities being provided by using the land on the right of this scene. After a decade or so out of use, this side of Moor street was restored to use and used by terminating Chiltern Railways services. Platform 1b is now Platform 3, and the DMU is standing in what is now Platform 4. The background perhaps reflects the general run down nature of the city centre at that time, which has since been transformed. The building in question is now a huge Primark store. Returning to Oz at 850kmh.

Road is reduced to 1-lane bidirectional with only one flagger. Flagger panel blends in with background.

Unsignalised midblock crosswalk is too narrow & access a generally unprotected area. No ADA compliant route delineation. Pedestrian path is less than 3 feet in multiple areas, including a barrel that reduced with to 1 foot. Pedestrian route terminates abruptly.

Concrete barriers used to partially delineate pedestrian area are unprotected & include multiple gaps, posing hazards for pedestrians as well as blunt object hazards for motorists.
