The Flame-faced Tanager is one of the most spectacular members of the diverse and exceptionally colorful genus Tangara. Living up to its common name, the forehead begins as a deep glimmering red, shading into a brilliant yellow on the nape and sides of the head. This "flame" contrasts sharply with the jet black back. The Flame-faced Tanager is a common member in mixed species foraging flocks in the canopy of humid montane forest from the Andes of extreme southwest Venezuela south to central Peru. It forages exclusively along mossy branches and occasionally peering at the underside in search of arthropods. There are three subspecies of the Flame-faced Tanager, described based mostly on minor differences in plumage. The species is typically found from 1000-2600 m and is most numerous above 1500 m. The IUCN Red list assesses the Flame-faced Tanager as a species of Least Concern; however, the population size is declining due to habitat destruction. Thus, the Flame-faced Tanager should become the focus of future studies.

The Toco Toucan is the one of the most recognizable tropical birds in the Americas. The only non-forest toucan, the Toco Toucan is found along forest edges and in low wet grassland from Guyana south to Argentina, and from central Brazil west to southeastern Peru. Toco Toucans are the largest species of toucan and can be identified by their black body, white bib, red undertail coverts and large red-orange bill. Toco Toucans feed extensively on figs and other fruit, and also occasionally prey on insects and nestling birds. When foraging, these birds travel in small groups in the canopy, gliding in single file from site to site.

The Sapphire-spangled Emerald (Chrysuronia lactea) is an apodiform bird of the Trochilidae family.
It is one of the smallest hummingbirds, although it is very active and pugnacious. Almost as common as the Glittering-bellied Emerald, this hummingbird does not attract as much attention from people, perhaps because it is smaller and has more discreet colors. Furthermore, it appears to be shyer than its larger relative, emerging less frequently from the protection of the foliage. According to Grantsau (1988), it has two subspecies occurring within Brazilian territory: C. lactea lactea (Lesson) and C. lactea bartletti (Gould). This is a C. lactea lactea, wild, at the gardens of Macuquinho Lodge.

Vandaag werd er naar het Duitse Bottrop gereden thv Kokerei Prosper. Er was gemeld dat er vanuit Krefeld 2 losse locs van Rhein Cargo onderweg waren naar Gelsenkichen-Bismark. Na erg lang wachten passeert er langs de 5 fotografen Rhein Cargo 185 588 + Rhein Cargo 192 034 (Smartron) met de tekst Unterwegs mit Ökostrom. Vanaf hier verder naar Gelsenkirchen-Bismark,wat een niet al te lange rit is. Daar gaat de 192er 'n keteltrein ophalen. Na wat rekenwerk zou hij binnen het uur terug moeten zijn.Maar helaas het mocht niet zo zijn. Tegen half 5 gingen alle 5 de fotografen weer huiswaarts het licht was op !.
* Al met al weer 'n mooie loc die we kunnen afstrepen.
Vandaag was het in Brabant/Limburg de 1ste serieuze sneeuwdag v/h najaar.. Toen het was opgehouden met sneeuwen werd voorzichtig naar de '' thuisstek'' gefietst. Na eerst 'n paar proefplaatjes v/d stoptrein en Intercity gemaakt te hebben gingen tegen 15u de overwegbomen naar beneden en in de verte zie ik de ICE aankomen, het was er niet een met 'n rode band,maar het was ICE 8029 > Europa < met blauwe band. <. Hij is is afkomstig uit Frankfurt am Main (D) ICE 156 .Via station Venlo verder via Ehv - den Bosch - Utrecht CS met eindbestemming Amsterdam CS.
* Deze kunnen we ook weer afstrepen. ** En je weet maar nooit of we nog meer sneeuw kunnen verwachten met de zachte winters v/d laatste jaren.
Black-throated Mango (male) - Widespread but uncommon. Occurring throughout the tropics of South America from Panama to northeast Argentina, the Black-throated Mango is the most widespread member of its genus, and among the most widespread of all hummingbirds. It is primarily found in open vegetation with bushes and scattered trees in many kinds of humid and dry habitats. Despite its widespread distribution, the species shows almost no geographic variation due perhaps to its impressive dispersal capabilities. Migratory, they are seen in São Paulo during spring / summer.

We lopen alweer tegen het einde van de maand juli, editie 2025, aan, wat inhoudt dat de helft van de zomer alweer achter ons ligt. Waar de maand juli nog met bloedhete en zonovergoten dagen van start ging, was het al redelijk snel klaar met de pret en kregen we te maken met een déjà vu van de zomer van het vorige jaar. Zelfs tot aan de kust van de Middellandse Zee vallen vakanties letterlijk in het water, en is het wisselvallige weer al enkele weken lang de boosdoener van menig vakantiepret. In de tweede week van juli wisten Teun, Tiemen en ik nog het regenachtige en grauwe zooitje te ontvluchten doormiddel naar Kroatië te reizen. Gedurende het voorjaar was dit helemaal niet nodig en mochten we enkele maanden lang van veelal hogedrukgebieden genieten waardoor er veel vaker uitstapjes gemaakt werden, zo ook op de kraakheldere maandag 7 april.
Op maandag 7 april werd er bij het krieken van de dag vanuit Oss vertrokken richting het zuidwesten van Brabant om een kort bezoekje aan het grensbaanvak tussen Roosendaal en Essen af te leggen. Deze ochtend lag er namelijk een fraaie trein in het verschiet, te weten de inmiddels bekende sinterdolomiettrein van SETG, welke op Belgische bodem nog altijd verzekerd wordt door Certus. Hoewel Certus voor menig fotograaf zeer interessant is, daar ze veelvuldig haar twee ex-NMBS HLE27's inzet, zorgde vooral gedurende het voorjaar de vervoerder regelmatig voor problemen. Certus was enkele keren niet in staat een trein op tijd aan de grens in Roosendaal over te nemen, wat er voor zorgde dat enkele keren een sinterdolomiet- of petroleumcokestrein moest uitwijken naar Amsterdam voor opstel. In de hoofdstad werd vervolgens gewacht op het juiste moment voor Certus om de trein in Roosendaal alsnog over te nemen.
Begin april was het weer zover en was het een trein, bestemd voor het vervoer van sinterdolomiet, welke richting Amsterdam werd gestuurd alwaar de trein bijna een week moest wachten vooraleer ze welkom was bij de zuiderburen. Maandag 7 april bleek de gelukkige te zijn waarop Certus in staat was om de fraaie sleep Tads'en in Roosendaal over te nemen. In alle vroegte vertrok dan ook de RXP 9902 vanaf de Amsterdam Westhaven richting Roosendaal, alwaar het stokje werd overgenomen door de twee 27'ers van Certus. Waar de trein op Nederlandse bodem eigenlijk nergens echt met een lekkere zonstand onderweg was, lagen er wel mogelijkheden klaar op het grensbaanvak naar Essen. De trein onder aanvoering van de RXP 9902 werd dan ook links gelaten, en vanuit huis reed ik direct richting Nispen. Aangezien de zon op het geplande vertrek nog wel ietwat aan de haakse kant zou staan werd besloten een kijkje te nemen op de laatste 500 meter voor de grens, alwaar het spoor een klein knikje maakt, ten gunste van het zonlicht. Aan de zuidkant van de flauwe boog werd uiteindelijk een geschikte plek gevonden alwaar de trein ook nog eens leuk een beetje in de knik zou hangen. Nadat Crossrail met een BLS 475'er en intermodale trein als proefkonijn voorbij kwam, kwam niet veel later de vertrekmelding vanuit Roosendaal en konden we ons gaan klaarmaken voor de gewenste foto.
Het is 10:17 als het duo bestaande uit de Certus 2707 & Certus 2731 de vier fotografen bij Nispen passeert, terwijl ze net vanuit Roosendaal vertrokken is met sinterdolomiettrein 47659. De trein is bijna een week eerder vertrokken vanuit het Duitse Hochfilzen en zal dan eindelijk met enkele uren het Belgische Ghlin bereiken. Na deze geslaagde foto werd er nog even gewacht op TCS die met de European Sleeper zou passeren, vooraleer ik richting België vertrok voor nog enkele geplande leuke treinen...
N.B. Enkele kleine graffitiklieders werden op de 2707 weggepoetst.
JAAROVERZICHT 2025
Mei stond garant voor de eerste echte fotodag van het jaar. Samen met mijn broer Wouter trok ik naar de driehoek Venlo – Duisburg – Mönchengladbach, met als hoofddoel de talrijk rondrijdende Ersatzzüge die op dat moment het spoorbeeld in Nordrhein-Westfalen bepaalden. Aangevuld met kameraad Mattias Catry kregen we een zonnige voormiddag voorgeschoteld.
De namiddag verliep eerder onder de wolken, maar in Viersen Helenabrunn lukte het toch nog om een TCS 101 vast te leggen op het juiste moment — tijdens een kort zonnig venster, lichtjes digitaal bijgewerkt om de sfeer van dat moment optimaal weer te geven.
Het was bovendien bijzonder leuk om nog eens veelvuldig locomotieven van de Baureihe 101 tegen te komen, zeker nu deze bij DB steeds vaker op een afstelspoor belanden. Hier verscheen ze dan ook nog eens in de frisse en opvallende kleurstelling van TCS, wat het plaatje extra aantrekkelijk maakte.

May marked the first proper photography day of the year. Together with my brother Wouter, I headed to the Venlo – Duisburg – Mönchengladbach triangle, focusing on the numerous Ersatzzüge that were dominating rail traffic in North Rhine-Westphalia at the time. Joined by our friend Mattias Catry, we were treated to a sunny morning.
The afternoon turned rather cloudy, but at Viersen Helenabrunn we still managed to capture a TCS 101 at just the right moment — during a brief spell of sunshine, slightly digitally enhanced to best reflect the atmosphere of that scene.
It was also a real pleasure to encounter Baureihe 101 locomotives so frequently, especially now that DB has been sidelining them more and more. Seeing one here in the fresh and eye-catching TCS livery made the shot even more rewarding.

Tegen het middaguur werd er maar even richting Venlo gegaan. Daar stond Lineas met de lege kalktrein klaar. Dus werd er naar Reuver gereden. Om iets voor half 1 passeert hier de enige fotograaf Lineas 7868 + Lineas 7866 met de lege kalktrein (47534) Trein is afkomstig uit Millingen Solvay (D) en gaat vanaf hier verder naar eindbestemming Yves Gomezée (B)
En zoals je ziet is de stek achter de Lidl ook weer goed gesnoeid.
Het is inmiddels tegen half 4 als de overwegbomen wederom naar beneden gaan. Dan passeert door de mooie bocht TXL 7193 300 > Start Now Nature > Driven by green passion > met aan de haak de volbeladen Verona -shuttle. Via de Brabantroute gaat hij naar eindbestemming het Rotterdamse (NL)
* Op de achtergrond heeft de boer zijn sproeiinstallatie maar aangezet ivm de aanhoudende droogte. Ondanks dat er toch genoeg regen is gevallen.
Tegen het begin van de avond vertrok de trein weer richting Amersfoort.
Amsterdam Westhaven 01-04-2017
Wellicht tegen beter weten in reed ik op 15 augustus 2024 naar Tricht om een foto te maken. Vooral de laaghangende bewolking bij de horizon dreigde serieus roet in het eten te gooien. Ook de bomenrij rechts wierp al wat schaduwen op het spoor.
Ik ging voor een plaatje van een ethanoltrein van RTB Cargo die van Venlo onderweg was naar de Houtrakpolder. Er werd met de ladder vanaf de auto (rechts in beeld) naar een plekje gelopen. Dit was nog even zoeken, maar uiteindelijke lukte het om een redelijk geschikte plek te vinden. Voorop de trein zit de 193 739 met HutchisonPort Europe Intermodel-bestickering.

Tegen het eind van de middag keerde de 904 van de Stichting Mat '64 weer terug naar Amersfoort. Na nog een uurtje stilstand in Enschede na aankomst van de laatste slag uit Almelo, ging het stel om exact vijf uur weer weg uit Enschede. Hoewel het idee was de trein op te wachten ergens langs Hengelo-Enschede Kennispark, besloot ik uiteindelijk toch om richting Zenderen te fietsen, met het plekje bij Tusveld in gedachten als mogelijke stek. Dit was een plek waar ik graag Plan V nog op de foto had willen hebben toen het hier nog reed, maar daar was het nooit van gekomen. Daarom werd deze kans dus gepakt om de 904 daar op de foto te zetten.
Om 17:27 kwam het stel door de flauwe bocht bij Tusveld gereden in een heerlijk warm namiddagszonnetje.

The ocelot (Leopardus pardalis) is a medium-sized spotted wild cat that reaches 40–50 cm (16–20 in) at the shoulders and weighs between 7 and 15.5 kg (15 and 34 lb) on average. It is native to the southwestern United States, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Margarita. Carl Linnaeus scientifically described it in 1758. Two subspecies are recognized.
The ocelot is efficient at climbing, leaping and swimming. It prefers areas close to water sources with dense vegetation cover and high prey availability. It preys on small terrestrial mammals, such as armadillos, opossums, and lagomorphs. It is typically active during twilight and at night and tends to be solitary and territorial. Both sexes become sexually mature at around two years of age and can breed throughout the year; peak mating season varies geographically. After a gestation period of two to three months, the female gives birth to a litter of one to three kittens. They stay with their mother for up to two years, after which they leave to establish their own home ranges.
The ocelot is listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List and is threatened by habitat destruction, hunting, and traffic accidents. While its range is very large, various populations are decreasing in many parts of its range. Op deze fraaie zaterdag stond een fotorit bij de RTM op het programma. Tegen de 50 fotografen meldde zich voor 9u in Ouddorp bij het mooie museum waarvan het gebouw momenteel wordt uitgebreid.
Gereden werd met verschillende trams en per fotobus, RTM107 Grasklokje, werd de boel achtervolgd ook al is er ook veel gewandeld. Speciale gast was de Saurer bus van het ROVM en ook diverse andere voertuigen waren van de partij.
Voor de foto's wel wat moderne zaken zoals een zendmast digitaal gesloopt...
Bedankt organisatie en RTM voor de leuke dag.
DEN HAAG - Een aantal markante, historische panden in het centrum van Den Haag wordt gerestaureerd. Het plan daarvoor maakt onderdeel uit van een ontwikkeling om 28 woningen en bijna 900 vierkante meter aan nieuwe winkels of horeca te realiseren in de binnenstad. Dat blijkt uit voorstellen die wethouder Boudewijn Revis (VVD) aan de gemeenteraad heeft gezonden.
De panden op de hoek van het Spui met de Gedempte Gracht zijn in dit deel van het centrum het ‘laatste stukje van de oorspronkelijke stad’, aldus de wethouder. Er omheen staat allemaal nieuwbouw: de Markthof, de bioscoop, het Spuimarkt-complex en het stadhuis.
‘Dit historisch stukje Den Haag in het hart van de stad, steekt qua bouwkundige uitstraling schril af tegen de (nieuwe) ontwikkelingen in de directe omgeving,’ signaleert de gemeente ook. Vandaar dat Revis onder strenge voorwaarden wil meewerken aan het plan.

Tegen het eind van de dag werden de treinen weer huiswaarts gestuurd. Syntus en Arriva verdwenen via Apeldoorn en Breng en Veolia via Dieren van de VSM-lijn. Lint 40 nadert hier station Apeldoorn, alwaar een Twents soortgenootje ivm detectieproblemen bij het stel aan zal sluiten.

OO-TEG was also noted at Riem on 6 May and 13 May 1979 in this hybrid livery. Here, the aircraft is coming in to land on runway 07. The first reported sighting of this airframe at Riem was on 10 November 1976 with TEA. On 31 March 1980, the aircraft would re-appear as SU-BBS with EgyptAir, and later during the 1980s it would frequently be seen here as D-AHLC with Hapag-Lloyd.
The second A300 for TEA (first flight October 7, 1975) was delivered on October 15, 1975. Baptized "Adrianus Andreas Jnr", it went operational two days later. From the beginning of April 1977, OO-TEG was leased to Egyptair, at first in this hybrid livery (first noted such at Cairo on April 6 1977). On July 2 1979 it was reregistered to SU-BBS and resprayed in their full livery by November of the same year, it would never return to TEA. (Source: www.skystef.be)
Leased to Hapag-Lloyd as D-AHLC from March 1983,the aircraft went on to Air Inter as F-GJIS in January 1990 and was leased to Holiday Airlines as TC-RAA from March 1995. Op Koningsdag werd weer richting Duitsland gereisd om weer treinen te fotograferen. Over de dag verspreid kwamen we leuke treinen tegen wat begon met de Flixtrain op Köln Messe/Deutz & eindigde met de Ersatszug van NX bij Bornheim.
Ongeveer 20 minuten na aankomst werden we verrast toen ineens een 110 vanuit de richting van Bonn aankwam rijden met twee koppelwagens van het PCW. Met een fluit groette de machinist van de fraaie Einheitslok naar de vier fotografen als hij onderweg was als trein 84083 van Völklingen naar Klinkum.

Leased to Hapag-Lloyd as D-AHLC from March 1983,the aircraft went on to Air Inter as F-GJIS in January 1990 and was leased to Holiday Airlines as TC-RAA from March 1995. Als in november een zuidenwind waait komt er vaak Saharastof mee in onze omgeving, wat voor spectaculair gekleurde zonsondergangen zorgt. Eind november 2020 was dat ook het geval : tegen een vurige achtergrond steekt lijn 17 fraai galmend de Amsterdamse Kinkerbrug over de Kostverlorenvaart over.
