Growing pains.... I can remember them well... the "my legs are stretching" pains that is but I cannot recall the teething pains. Poor little nephew, it'll all be worth it, I promise.

Today Cacing became cranky. And late in the afternoon she had a long mysterious crying spell. No wonder. She is already teething. We already could see 2 white teeth about to come out of her lower gums. I had to have Farl go to the pharmacy to buy Xylogel which is a gum balm. We hope that and a teether would pacify her.

It’s a great time for a baby to start teething. According to ADA, most of the babies get their first tooth developed in the age of 6 months. And by the age of three, they get the complete set of primary #teeth. Although irritability and excessive drooling are the most common signs which tell that the baby is teething, there are other signs too that you can look at. Remember, teething is a painful time, and the only way you can keep your baby comfortable is to follow the right way as recommended by your dentist. Having that said, it is worth mentioning some signs of teething.
Decreased sleeping
When you expect your baby to start teething, one thing that you need to look at is the sleep pattern of your baby. Due to the discomfort of teething process, baby might not find it very easy to sleep. Hence, decreased sleeping can come out as consequence.
Excessive biting or gnawing
The baby, who starts teething, usually likes to bite or gnaw on anything she/she finds light enough to be lifted. This is the #natural phenomenon which is associated with relieving of pressure with the help of pressure generated by biting on something. The gums usually ache when the teeth start making way to get erupted. And biting on something help in relieving this pressure. In order to help your baby, you can provide him/her with a teething ring.
Rubbing of ear and cheek area
The #teething baby can have pain spreading in the area of cheeks and ears. Thus, the baby may start rubbing the area. Due to discomfort, the baby may start pulling ears or rub on the cheeks. But one thing worth mentioning here is that this pulling and rubbing do not show the signs of teething only. An ear infection can also make the baby to do such activities. In either case, you have to take your baby to the doctor immediately.
Decreased appetite
The teething baby gets sores and tenders in the gums and area close to gums. Hence, it is quite natural for the baby to refuse the food because chewing can result in extra amount of pain. This loss in #appetite is due to the discomfort due to this tenderness of gums.
Teething is the natural process which is going to cause #pain and #discomfort in the gums. But, you have to make sure that you are taking care of your baby’s oral hygiene in order to keep the infections away. You also need to take your baby to the #dental_visit.
