Week 41/52 -
*Hit "L" to make it big!*
Week 41 is a completely different style and shoot from last week - both rock though! Week 40: flic.kr/p/bkCj9r
Ashley got my old Nintendo system sent out and fixed for my birthday. She's back and in all her 8 bit glory baby! Fully functional, games fire right up, no flickering, etc. Its awesome. Broke out all the classics - Tetris, Mario Bros., Zelda, Tecmo Bowl, Blades of Steel, etc. I've got about 150 games compiled over the years.
I wanted to get the NES back up and running for when the baby comes. This kid needs to grow up on the basics, cherish the little things and keep it real. The classic 80's synthesized music, 2 buttons and choppy graphics are the perfect start!

Objective: (Jeremy speak)
Last week's shot was great. Outdoors, wide open, fun shooting. This week changed gears, more like 3 gears. I went back into the studio to capture another love of my life. In fact, this NES has been my mistress since I was 5 years old. Do the math kids, that's 24 years give or take of 8 bit seduction. So I had to get the system into my project.
Truth be told, this was not my planned shot. In fact, this was the only shot I took in portrait orientation. I shot everything else landscape. I had greater plans in my head for this shot that just did not turn out good. This was my first time booming a softbox from directly overhead. So that took a bit of adjustment lighting wise. Light acts drastically different when coming straight down, rather than from the side.
So I quickly snapped this shot in slight frustration while moving onto more setups. I uploaded the series into Lightroom and found that clearly this was the winner. A bit of preset action in LR, going for an older vintage film look and a little boosting of the reds.
P.S. - For anyone ready to jump down my throat about not seeing more games in the scene, it was not my original plan. If I would change it again, Tetris would clearly be displayed, followed by Tecmo Bowl and Super Tecmo Bowl. In my defense, Tecmo Bowl is in the Nintendo during this shot!
