Day 15: Technology
Technological advances are the norm; it is expected that something "new and improved" will be released, well, yesterday. If you don't get 'it', you will be out-of-date, behind, not with-it. There is this push whether overt or subtle to convince the consumer that he 'needs' it --now! Lines wrap around buildings, extending down sidewalks when there is a new release- especially at the Apple Store. Perhaps people feel they will miss out if they don't fork over handfuls of money, rather - their plastic.
Isn't it better to take a step back? put down the plastic, remove the bluetooth, shut off the computer. Dare I say, turn off the television, the mp3, the ipad? Take a moment: inhale, exhale. Again. Breathe. Listen. And the phrase 'silence is deafening' comes to mind. Instead of tuning outward, turn inward, listen to yourself: your soul. What do you hear? At first it may be difficult, having covered yourself in layers of pixels, animation, music, and static. But after a time, you realize that you hear a melody; it's not coming from the outside, but within.
That melody is you.

Driving and walking rovers competed to survey a shadowy analogue of the south polar lunar surface for useable resources during the inaugural ESA-ESRIC Space Resources Challenge.
Some 13 teams from across Europe and Canada took part in a field test in November 2021.
The Space Resources Challenge is asking European (and Canadian) researchers and institutions to develop and demonstrate a system of one or more vehicles capable of prospecting resources on the Moon in the near future.
The Space Resources Challenge teams gathered at Valkenberg in the Netherlands had to contend with challenging illumination conditions and potential loss of signal events to locate resources, including mapping a small impact crater in the vicinity of the rover’s lander – all within a two and a half hour time limit.
The five winners will be awarded €375 000 in ESA contracts, with a larger prize pool on offer after a follow-on field test hosted by ESRIC in the summer of 2022.
