CHICAGO (Perspectives Charter Schools) -- Perspectives Mentor Breakfast on Tuesday, October 22 from 8:00-10:00am at Perspectives High School of Technology.
Every year hundreds of juniors from across the Perspectives network participate in a five-week internship throughout the Chicagoland area. The program aims to provide every student with the opportunity to form a healthy relationship with a professional role model, help them develop awareness of career choices, and to introduce them to the culture of the business arena. Over the years, hundreds of companies and organizations have provided this valuable experience, where students work in the offices of their mentors on Wednesdays from 9 am to 3 pm for five weeks during the winter.

I just had the idea to illustrate the concept of asymmetrical balance with two similarly shaped items that are different. So I used my MacBook and a PC Laptop.

During World War II when planning the Allied invasion of Europe it was recognised that guaranteed fuel supplies would be required for the military vehicles. If tankers were used they would be vulnerable to attack by enemy aircraft or German U-boats. A plan to pump fuel under the sea to France was developed. The project was codenamed Operation PLUTO (Pipe Line Under The Ocean).
There were two types of pipeline; HAIS (after Hartley Anglo-Iranian Siemens) and HAMEL (after the engineers Hammick and Ellis). The section seen on display in the glass cabinet is a section of HAIS pipeline.
By the end of the war in May 1945, about 172 million gallons (781 million litres) of fuel had been pumped to the Allied forces in northern Europe (about 1.35 million gallons/6.1 million litres per day).
Local Fact: The River Medway was one of two places (the other being the Firth of Clyde) where the prototypes were tested in 1942.

One (1) celebrity and four (4) contestants are a team. The team of four (4) amateur players remains together for two (2) consecutive days. The celebrity contestant changes teams for the second day. Current USGA handicaps are verified and applied to all contestants.
