MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) technologists Johanna Fanara and Matthew Hodgson man the advanced imaging machine that uses radio waves and magnetic fields to produce images in a non-invasive way by internally scanning for such wounds as concussions and brain injuries, as well as tissue, organ, bone and ligament damage.

It can also used for more complicated patient clinical presentations and symptoms, musculoskeletal/orthopedic injury evaluation, or with patients that are having a slowed recovery from their injuries.

The MRI utilizes a strong superconducting magnet and radiofrequency coils to influence the protons that are found throughout the body.

Specific tissue types and pathologic processes respond differently in the MRI environment, which allows the radiologist to then make a diagnosis and assist the healthcare provider in developing an appropriate treatment plan.
