Song: "Technologic" (Instrumental) by Daft Punk. For educational purposes only.

The idea behind this project was to use a highly advance holographic digital keyboard and monitor (or "Heads Up Display"/HUD) to talk about how we, in the year 2010, still don't have all the really futuristic stuff that we thought we would a few decades ago. It's supposed to be a bit of irony that I'm using something super futuristic to say this.

As far as technical issues are concerned, I had a lot of trouble finding someone with a good enough camera to shoot this as it required a green screen. I used my own digital camera which was too grainy and didn't produce good enough results. Most people I knew also had sub par cameras. Finally I found someone with a good enough camera to produce a decent result. It's still not perfect and could be cleaned up a lot if the footage was reshot using a much better camera.

The video is cut into three short segments, each after the person types out his message on the monitor. The animations are simplified and cartoony visuals that describe the text just written, like a hover car that looks like it came from the Jetsons, or a laser gun that looks like it was taken from an old 60s cartoon, or the "space battle" represented by an animation that looks like it came from the old "Asteroids" arcade game.

A TECHNOLOGICAL REVOLUTION IS UNDER WAY

Scientists are now harnessing the properties of quantum mechanics, the theory that describes the atomic world, to develop information technologies of unprecedented power and precision that promise to change the world. Canada is a world-leader in quantum information research.

Here's a primer on this technological quantum leap.

In the near future, humanity has established a surprising and peaceful contact with an extraterrestrial civilisation. These aliens, whose technological level far surpasses our own, have granted us access to advanced technology with the potential to revolutionise all aspects of our world. Among the many gifts they have brought are a series of mysterious devices and toys that particularly captivate children – especially girls.

These alien devices appear to activate a form of direct communication with the girls' minds. It is as if they resonate with their brains, transmitting an infinite stream of knowledge. The girls become astonishingly intelligent, their understanding spanning from advanced physics to poetic interpretations of the universe. Yet a shadow of uncertainty remains: What is the purpose of this knowledge? What consequences will it have for them and for us as a society? Is this resonance a bridge between species, a collaboration, or something deeper and more enigmatic? While we ponder these questions, we choose to let the girls continue their play, both fascinated and apprehensive about what the future may hold.

This image series explores this fascinating and mysterious encounter between the girls and their new toys. It is a visual narrative of curiosity, technology, and the unknown.

Poem: "Resonance"

They came with light,no demands, no demands. The voices of their technology spokethrough the stars,a whisper in the mind.

The girls' hands reachedfor the alien objects, and with each touchcame a stream of universesthrough their minds.

Is it knowledge or a riddle? Is it freedom or destiny? They laugh, they learn, while we watchand wait for answers.

Haikus

Stars burn bright above,

mystic hands bring minds to sing

in unison's hum.

Girls' wide eyes glimmer,

knowledge flows like endless streams

through time's hidden paths.

Play births creation,

alien voices murmur

secrets to their hands.

Peace from the beyond,

technology’s dance now rests

in the girls' small palms.

What is their intent?

A gift or a subtle test?

We choose still to see.

Technological genius is often so far ahead of its time that centuries later, looking back, it's staggering how long it took the world to catch up and exploit such advances. Still standing tall over the deep rushing waters of the Severn.

LGM-118A Peacekeeper

The Peacekeeper served as the United States Air Force's most powerful, accurate, and technologically advanced Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) deterrent. Conceived to replace the Minuteman ICBMs, its development began in the early 1970s under the name "Missile, Experimental," or MX. Later, it received the official name "Peacekeeper." The first test flight took place in 1983 at Vandenberg AFB, California. Peacekeepers became operational in 1986.

Constructed with an airframe made of a Kevlar epoxy composite, the Peacekeeper was much lighter than previous ICBMs, and it could carry more warheads. When combined with new Multiple Independently Targeted Re-entry Vehicles (MIRV) technology, one Peacekeeper could accurately deliver a number of nuclear warheads on different targets at the same time. A four-stage missile, Peacekeeper was the first Air Force ICBM to use the "cold launch" technique similar to the system used to launch missiles from submarines.

The Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) II, signed in 1993 with Russia, removed all multiple-warhead ICBMs. As a result of the changed strategic world situation and START II, the United States deactivated all 50 LGM-118As between 2003 and 2005. Some Peacekeepers were eventually used as satellite launch vehicles.
