My attempt at a faux infrared photo as described in this thread at the Techniques group.

The original photo -- the colours in this image are pretty great in the original already, so the infrared compared to it isn't that impressive, but I like the black beads. Plus, all the photos I was attempting this technique on with the typical trees and sky weren't turning out well, so this was a fine alternative.

(A late-night effort to push away all those coffee photos.)

Participants are mastering advanced climbing techniques, adhering to strict safety protocols, and applying efficient methods for collecting seeds from towering trees.

optical tubing weaved into a lampshade

It took me about 1 hour to set up the environment thing before I could actually make first shot. This one turned out to be after 5-10 legitimate shots, inspired by the "Technique" group's "water drop splash" thread, thanks!

Immortal Technique Aug 14th @ Knitting Factory.

Techniques: I placed the baby at the center of the frame and placed his parents' faces on either third. An implied line takes you from the dad's face to the mom and her baby. I used a shallow DoF to give them the right focus in the shot. I also used a fast shutter speed in order to get them while each of them were moving.

Post processing: I cropped in on both sides of the photo to get the frame I wanted. I added some warmth in order to get the right emotion in the scene.

Why this Shot?: I love the happiness in the scene, and the way it came out so well. I love the expressions and colors.

These pages are experiments with mark making. I did some life drawings using the mark making techniques cross-hatching and stippling. This was done in Biro pen and Fine-liner.
