This is the technique behind the wings of my new SHIP WIP.
The connection is a slightly bit forced, but otherwise a good solution. Take a look at my photostream to see how the top looks
This multiple-frame Hockneyized technique seems especially appropriate to the theme of the original drawing -- the difficulties of fitting in to pre-established boundaries. And the tags on each frame are still another way to tell the story. [Created with fd's Flickr Toys.]
arm technique used in my magician vignette.
again, not my idea.
the claw piece slides into the shoulder socket (only on older style torsos), and you have to slightly force the arm into the claw.
this does strain the parts a bit, and i've heard it can break the claw, but i've never had a problem with any part of it breaking. popping out yes, breaking no.
try at your own risk!

I have been casting about for a technique for building round windows for some time, and I finally came up with this one while tinkering. I've used Dark Bley 1x4 arches with black bricks, plates, tiles, and a pair of light grey headlight bricks (not visible in this shot, they're on the inside). I'm planning on using this to incorporate some Fatimid and Mamluk influences into Brickistan.
Using the ICM technique, this is a portrait of the Redbud Lavender Twist from beginning of spring and mid April. I accidentally forgot my ND filter but was pleasantly surprised that this photo worked out.
Interesting technique I tried on this image. ISO 1600, Aperture Priority setting and let the camera pick shutter speed from the f/3.5 aperture.
Ambient lighting only. Topaz Denoise and Nik Define for noise reduction. It's dark I know, but shouldn't theaters be dark?
Opinions?

Since he managed to remove it twice during the three weeks he had to wear it, I'm thinking he could have been named Houdini. It's a lot funnier now that it's in the past. ;)
Happy New Year everyone! I am grateful to have made it through 2008 in one piece. I just hope 2009 will be calmer and not require medical attention for anyone.
What are you hoping for?

Based loosely on Ganzfeld experiments (a technique used in parapsychology in the 1970s as a way of invoking telepathy), Color Field Immersion involves masking the audience with semi-transparent blindfolds onto which light projections are mapped. Similar to sensory deprivation, Color Field Immersion provides perceptual deprivation, replacing the entirety of each audience member’s visual field with washes of color, line, and movement – often inducing hallucinations as the brain seeks to replace lost stimuli. Flipping the traditional performer-audience relationship, the internalized experience becomes the location of the performance. Combined with rich, textural soundscapes, Color Field Immersion creates a deeply immersive perceptual architecture of sound and vision.
Doron Sadja is an American artist, composer, and curator whose work explores modes of perception and the experience of sound, light, and space. Working primarily with multichannel spatialized sound – combining pristine electronics with lush romantic synthesizers, extreme frequencies, dense noise, and computer-enhanced acoustic instruments, Sadja creates post-human, hyper-emotive sonic architecture. Although each of Sadja’s works are striking in their singular and focused approach, his output is diverse: spanning everything from immersive multichannel sound pieces to sexually provacative performance / installation works, and stroboscopic smoke, mirror, laser, and projection shows. Doron has published music on 12k, ATAK, and Shinkoyo records, and has performed/exhibited at PS1 MoMa, Miami MOCA, D’amelio Terras Gallery, Cleveland Museum of Art, Issue Project Room, and Roulette amongst others. Sadja co-founded Shinkoyo Records and the West Nile performing arts venue in Brooklyn (RIP), and has curated various new music/sound festivals around NYC, including the multichannel SOUNDCORRIDORS Festival, Easy Not Easy, John Cage Musicircus, and more.
The angle is the same as the cheese slope, 30 degrees.
One benefit of this technique is that (if you build it right) you can just lift off the roof (or what you use it as) or just a section of it.

Not my image but BCC Monoist Special Interest Group set a challenge to process this image from another member. Work carried out in LR to bring detail out of the shadows and in Photoshop to give a great sense of the magnitude of the interior.
Definition: Technical:
1. Of, relating to, or derived from technique.
2.
a. Having special skill or practical knowledge especially in a mechanical or scientific field: a technical adviser.
b. Used in or peculiar to a specific field or profession; specialized: technical terminology.
3.
a. Belonging or relating to a particular subject: technical expertise.
b. Of, relating to, or involving the practical, mechanical, or industrial arts or the applied sciences: a technical school.
4.
a. Abstract or theoretical: a technical analysis.
b. Of, relating to, or employing the methodology of science; scientific.
5. According to principle; formal rather than practical: a technical advantage.
6. Industrial and mechanical; technological.
7. Relating to or based on analysis of market indicators, such as trading volume and fluctuations in securities prices, rather than underlying economic conditions such as corporate earnings, inflation, and unemployment: a technical correction in the stock market.
Idea: I was pretty confused with this one, because everyone seems to take this to mean technology, but it doesn’t. So with that definition in mind I realised that this tree could be made out of just about anything that was systematically placed or worked to form the shape of a tree in a far more skilled/difficult manner, or it could be number meaning no 6 "Technological". I thought I’d cover both.
This is my "Technological" or "Technology" tree.
Process: I made this tree from a whole lot of CDs that I placed on a table to form the shape of a stylised tree. Then I turned off the lights and tried to use the camera flash from above them to get a the best colour and light reflections from the CDs. The hardest part was getting the flash angle right.
Fresh hybrid seed needs to be bought every planting season as farmers cannot replant grain as seed without major reductions in yield and loss of uniformity.

These can be TIGHT connections, use caution with your own elements (I can't be held responsible for... yada yada etc). The design on the left can be assembled and disassembled easily. The design on the bottom right can be dismantled with a tool, and the design on the top may be permanent (I would have picked different colors if I had known).
8433 S. Pulaski (built in 1966)
Our business started some 84 years ago. Vito & Nick's is a family owned business whose roots originated in Sicily. In 1923 Vito and Mary Barraco opened their first tavern located at Congress and Polk. In 1932 founder Vito Barraco opened a new location at 80th and Halsted calling it Vito's Tavern. In 1939 Vito moved to 79th and Carpenter to include 8 restaurant tables and a bar where they served Italian sandwiches, sausage, beef and snacks. His son Nick joined the business in 1945 after being discharged from the Army Air force. Several years later the family expanded the business to include home cooked meals with Vito's wife Mary Barraco. They soon became known for inexpensive quality Italian dishes.

In 1946 with the help of Nick's mother they began making pizzas. This original Sicilian style pizza combined quality tomato sauce, carefully seasoned sausage, pure cheese, and a guarded dough recipe. This technique has made the pizza stand the test of time (for over 58 years) that Vito & Nick's have become famous for at their 84th and Pulaski location where they are still located today.
