Luzia Abdala, a health technician at the Chiure Health Center with nearly a decade of experience, has spent the last five years working in Chiure. Originally from Ilha do Ibo, Luzia is passionate about supporting young people in understanding sexual health and family planning.
"I’m highly motivated to help youth; many are utilising our services lately. The biggest issues we face are STIs and premature pregnancies. Fortunately, we offer safe abortion options, which has significantly reduced the number of unsafe abortions and related health complications for young girls."
She emphasised the need to reinforce GBV education in schools.
Luzia also helps lead a youth programme that raises awareness around GBV and sexual health. "We meet twice a week, and it’s not only about discussing these important issues—we also dance and create a supportive environment for young people to speak openly."
