Brian is our most experienced technician.
A true craftsman, Brian works steadily and methodically through the most complex of repairs to ensure an oustanding result is achieved every time
TWO months! TWO technicians. Two hard drives. Two bodies of water. Two weeks to get it back from each of the technicians.
Do you understand how FRUSTRATING this has been?
I was in the middle of the packing and the moving so I couldn't attempt to try my first ever hard drive replacement on ANY computer, let along one I needed... so I sent it to Boston. My sister's boyfriend replaced the hard drive for me but then when I got it back (from Boston) it wouldn't turn on.
Good God, what else could go wrong!
Well, when I got back to PR with the nonfunctioning computer, I tried contacting Boston to no avail. I didn't hear back from them. I didn't know how to do a system profile and it wasn't even registering the computer when I connected it to another.
My BiL finally found someone to help me out... supposedly. After almost two weeks at the new place, the guy told us that the computer was fine but the hard drive was damaged. But then he went on to say that he didn't even open up the computer... huh? WTF? because it was cracked in the corner and he didn't want to be responsible for breaking it... the idiot obviously didn't know what the hell he was doing.
So... I'm sick and tired of waiting and dealing with all of this so I decide to take matters into my own hands. I went to ifixit.com and found out how to replace the hard drive. I needed access to it to see if it really was damaged. Boston had already told me it could have been slightly dislodged in transit and so it wasn't registering.
The Supposed tech down here had also mentioned something about it not having an OS installed. After taking apart my computer, I checked the hard drive and not so surprise surprise... it's fine!
So, after some debating and waiting, I put it back together and VOILA!!!
I have my chencha back!

These magnets came from Argonne National Laboratory, which shipped the 30-year-old Advanced Photon Source (APS) magnets to Brookhaven and Jefferson Lab, where they will be re-purposed for use as part of the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), a state-of-the-art particle collider being led by those other two labs and that will be built at Brookhaven.
