Een tramexcursie op het tramnet van Charleroi is altijd een belevenis. Vooral als de nadruk wordt gelegd op de lijn naar de Centenaire.

Deze tramlijn is bijna veertig jaar oud maar heeft nog nooit een dienstwagen gezien. Toch zijn er nu steeds meer stemmen die zeggen dat men de lijn gaat voltooien en in dienst gaat nemen!

Op deze zaterdag stond de net uit de schilderswerkplaats gekomen 7436 klaar om de fotografen te vervoeren. Het was heerlijk om deze excursie mee te mogen maken in een tram van ook zo'n veertig jaar oud. Een verslag in 48 plaatjes.

The PMR30 is a relatively new offering from Kel-Tec CNC, Inc. of Cocoa, Florida. It's somewhat unusual in that it is a semi-automatic pistol which fires the .22 WMR (for Winchester Magnum Rimfire) cartridge, commonly called 22 Mag. There are a fair number of past and present .22 Mag revolvers, but only a very small handful of semiautos. The first was the Automag II, which has been made by a succession of manufacturers, with highly variable quality. Another was the relatively rare Grendel P-30, made by Kel-Tec founder George Kellgren's previous company. The equally uncommon Excel Arms Accelerator completes the small group.

 

The PMR30 has a frame, slide cover and some of the working parts made from Zytel glass-filled nylon. The grip frame is held together with 10 Allen head screws and 6 more attach various other parts. That has to be a new record for any handgun! The 4.3-inch (109mm) steel barrel has 1:11 traditional rifling. The safety levers are ambidextrous, though the slide stop is left side only. 3-dot fiber optic sights are very easy to see, even in low light (and with my 50+ year old eyes.)

 

The magazine, also Zytel, holds 30(!) rounds, though it's somewhat tricky to load. You really need to read the book to get all 30 cartridges into it and avoid failure- to- feed malfunctions. The magazine release is located at the bottom rear of the grip, but unlike European style heel clips, the magazine drops free with the press of a button. Unloaded, the pistol weighs only 13.6 ounces (386g) but balances well. As I write this, I haven't had it to the range but the magazine write-ups rate the reliability and accuracy highly... we'll see.

 

Currently, these pistols are made of unobtanium, so if you can't live without one RIGHT NOW, expect to pay scalpers' prices. That's not part of my Karma; I sort of lucked into this one. I paid $15 OVER list, but the dealer threw in a box of quality ammo, so I didn't quibble over it.

Tarier de la Réunion

Le tec-tec, ou tarier de la Réunion, est un petit oiseau endémique de la Réunion. On le rencontre dans la forêt humide de moyenne altitude de 300 à 1000 mètres et plus rarement en haute altitude jusque vers 2200 mètres. La femelle est beige avec un ventre clair. Le mâle a une tête noire, le menton et la gorge blanchâtre, le jabot et la poitrine roux fauve. Le tec-tec vit à la lisière des forêts d'altitude, dans les clairières ou le long des sentiers et se nourrit d'insectes qu'il capture en vol ou plus souvent au sol. Cet oiseau est vif et très curieux, il s'approche facilement du randonneur jusqu'à quelques mètres. Il pond ses œufs dans un nid de mousses, de tiges et de crins de septembre à janvier. Il nidifie par terre, le long des talus, au pied d'un arbre ou à quelques mètres du sol dans l'infractuosité d'un tronc.

 

The tec-tec, or Réunion tarier, is a small bird endemic to Réunion. It is found in humid forest at medium altitude from 300 to 1000 meters and more rarely at high altitude up to around 2200 meters. The female is beige with a light belly. The male has a black head, whitish chin and throat, rufous rufous crop and chest. The tec-tec lives at the edge of high altitude forests, in clearings or along trails and feeds on insects that it captures in flight or more often on the ground. This bird is lively and very curious, it easily approaches the hiker up to a few meters. It lays its eggs in a nest of moss, stems and horsehair from September to January. It nests on the ground, along embankments, at the foot of a tree or a few meters from the ground in the infractuosity of a trunk.
