Day 269
A wise man once said, no matter who you are, what you do, a teacher works harder than you. Literally brain surgery.
In Iowa as in many GOP controlled states, teachers and public employees are being made into scapegoats to further an agenda that's funded by the Koch Brothers. My wife is a teacher. Both my parents were. I know what they do and their worth to society. Pity that the other side feels differntly.
I spent some time with this class this morning while they were working with the computers from the laptop cart. Their introduction to computers as tools in grade 1 is good, but there is nothing like the way the teacher can raise the interest in reading and numeration by grasping the students attention. It is nice to see the balance.

I'm not big on shooting people, here is the bringer of amazement and joy in my life. The other part of the time she is my Zen teacher!

Few teachers in poor communities can afford proper training. This gift could provide six months training, helping a teacher in Sierra Leone to improve their teaching methods, expand their knowledge and grow in confidence, while the children reap the rewards of a better education.

I love love love love love good teachers ! I love interesting teachers. I can argue my lungs & soul out with them but at the end of the day will 1000 times think over what they said. It’s not easy to be a good teacher. It’s incredibly hard & challenging. Well, I think it is ! It is not easy to catch attention of 99 % of the class. Well, I think it is challenging. I will dedicate this post to all the teachers who are amazing & interesting on every level. /// //// /// First time I read WW poetry as a junior in high school. To teach his poems to someone just a few years fresh from ESL class with a Russian poetry background is not something I would wish upon anybody. I didn’t love him or his “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry” but I kept my graded reaction from poetry class to his work for 18 years till my dad destroyed it last year with other memorabilia. And to this day it breaks my heart. And probably that was the main reason why I got hysterical when that box was destroyed. That’s nothing more than garbage, he said. Most things from that box went into the past long time ago without me realizing but anything with connection to that man I would want to keep in my life even if that piece of paper was from 2000. I would buy a bunch of the same editions, go to his birthplace every month or look over the writings by Brooklyn Bridge. Love this man & his poetry to the bone. / / / Sometimes with one I love, I fill myself with rage, for fear I effuse unreturn'd love;
But now I think there is no unreturn'd love—the pay is certain, one way or another;
(I loved a certain person ardently, and my love was not return'd;
Yet out of that, I have written these songs.)

My friend ordered this for a teacher appreciation lunch. Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream. Gum paste decorations. A lot of fun to make.
