DE KLIMOP ROUWT NOG STEEDS
Leon en Willemijn van der Heijden – hij als tuinman en schilder, zij als zijn muze en manusje van alles - zich terug op de eeuwenoude begraafplaats Huis te Vraag. Deze begraafplaats ligt, aan het oog onttrokken voor de toevallige voorbijganger, vlakbij de Zuid-as in Amsterdam. Sinds 1962 wordt hier niet meer begraven. Wel functioneert de begraafplaats nog steeds als stadspark en stilteplek.
Onder constante druk van de ‘boze buitenwereld’, de projectontwikkelaar en de oprukkende nieuwbouw besteden Leon en Willemijn twintig jaar van hun leven aan het scheppen, onderhouden en behouden van dit aardse paradijs. Leon legt de schoonheid van deze plek - begraafplaats annex weiland - veelvuldig vast op het schilderslinnen en hij schrijft er ook verschillende boeken over.
Filmmaker Barbara den Uyl laat de kijker kennismaken met twee eigenzinnige mensen, verbonden in een bewonderenswaardig huwelijk, op een schitterende, betoverende plek. Een plek waar wonen en werken, leven, doodgaan en begraven op unieke wijze samenkomen
Te Toto is a short drive (20 mins) along a gravel road from Raglan, we drove the motorhome up there and stayed the night in the carpark. Looking forward to getting back to this wonderful place! Did someone say astro shot?
The three natural coastal amphitheatres at Te Toto were once the site of extensive Maori gardens. Remnants of stone rows which would have outlined garden plots can still be seen in places, as well two small pa, storage pits and terraces.
There is little recorded tradition about this area but the rather eroded state of the earthworks suggests it was occupied between about 1700 and 1800.

The incredible Lady Bowen Falls in Milford Sound at Fiordland, New Zealand. The Bowen River starts at Mount Graves and flows downwards for nearly 9.7kms before gushing 162 metres over a cliff near Milford Sound.
The Maori name for the falls is Hine Te Awa meaning “girl on the river.” Bowen Falls is the tallest and most dramatic waterfall in Milford Sound. Truly a thing of beauty.

Non amo il Natale
Forse non l'ho mai amato
Neanche da piccola, tante le assenze anche allora.
O forse non ho mai amato l'obbligatorietà ad essere felice e sorridente per forza solo perché è Natale.
Non c'è un giorno in cui si debba essere felici, come dovrebbe esserci mésse di giorni in cui poterlo essere.
Ma è Natale lo stesso e allora..
Allora..
Vorrei tu, ovunque sei e chiunque sei,
Vorrei, dicevo, tu potessi sorridere e non perché è Natale
Vorrei tu potessi sorridere perché ne hai voglia
Perché il vento, un suono, un colore, un amore o uno sconosciuto han sollevato le pieghe della tua bocca anche solo nel l'abbozzo di un sorriso
Vorrei tu riuscissi a sorridere nella dimensione di un ricordo come nella speranza di un viatico desiderato.
Vorrei tu riuscissi a ridere di te quando ti prendi troppo sul serio
Vorrei tu potessi sorridere benevolo al vedere chi si prende troppo sul serio.
Vorrei insomma che a Natale e non solo, tu potessi essere per te, non quello che gli altri si aspettano da te per trovare soddisfatta quiete,ma quello che ti fa sentire vivo e non semplicemente sopravvissuto a te stesso.
