I bought my new handbag for it's gorgeous orange body and like all beautiful things it knows complementary colours work well!
With khakis and light socks. I was out of town for the weekend and only brought these shoes with me. Others in the group suggested I wear more appropriate footwear as we'd be doing a lot of walking but I had to explain that I accidentally brought only these! The tasseled scorpionfish, or small-scaled scorpionfish, Scorpaenopsis oxycephala, is a carnivorous ray-finned fish with venomous spines that lives in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It can reach a maximum length of 36 cm and can vary considerably in color. Adults are bearded with a number of tassels below the jaw.
They inhabit reef slopes from only 1 to 35 meters. When in shallow waters, swimmers may accidentally tread on them which may cause painful injury from the venomous spines. [Wikipedia EN]

For all the years I've been taking pictures of this bird, I never noticed: When viewed large, all those white spots on the ends of the flight feathers are "tassels!" Take a look. They're all individual fringes. That's just plain neat.
