An Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterfly with severe wing damage sipping nectar from a fresh Canadian Thistle flower head. Wing damage due to activity around sharp spiny thistles will likely lead to an early end for this butterfly's season.
Considered common and more abundant, this year.
The grass tassels blowing in the evening sun. The tiny white feathery wings for the seeds. Another site that shows me fall is here for this bush to catch evening light as it does with the north wind breezing through to wave it through the light streaming between the houses west of the plant.
Peck's Skipper butterfly busily checking the nectar supply of a Scotch Thistle floret.
Common and abundant during late Summer.
Last of the water drops crashes for now. Hope you enjoyed these and that you have a wonderful week ahead. :-)

Macro Mondays theme Leather
After much deliberation I returned to my original photos which I wasn't happy with at the time. This was originally a portriat shot of the entire tassel of my wonderfully vivid 70's style handbag. Except the whole tassle was way outside of the group's size requirements. I ended up flipping it (the image that is), rotating it through 90º to landscape and then cropping it. I think I'm now reasonably happy with it (although not very happy with having wasted so much time!).
Happy Macro Mondays!!!
Hang on in there – the threads of life are intricately woven.

Cross-processed using PaintShop to add the border - the colouring remains true to the original.

This tassel tree was planted by the Nature Center at the park. It's not a native species so I don't know why they did it, but it does have a spectacular flower show. The species is native to eastern Asia: eastern and central China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan.
