The Water Task Team meeting takes place following a successful Water and Sanitation Indaba that drew participation from Provincial and National Government, SALGA, Municipalities, water boards, academic experts and a number of water and sanitation stakeholders.

 

The Water Task Team comprises of Deputy President Mashatile as Chair, as well as Minister of Water and Sanitation; Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs; Minister of Human Settlements; Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure; Minister of Agriculture; Minister of Land Reform and Rural Development; Minister of Police; Minister for Electricity, and the Minister of Finance.

 

Among other issues, the meeting today discussed current critical water projects and interventions by the Departments of Water and Sanitation as well as COGTA, and other priority projects across the country as part of the Task Team’s inter-departmental responses to address water challenges in South Africa.

 

The meeting today was also attended by Water and Sanitation Deputy Ministers Mahlobo and Seitlholo, Deputy Ministers Manamela and Mathabatha as well as Municipal Infrastructure Support Agency (MISA), Infrastructure South Africa (ISA) and DWS Director-General, Dr Sean Phillips.[Photos by GCIS]

Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to Joint Task Force - District of Columbia direct citizens and manage traffic in Washington, D.C., Jan. 20, 2025. Approximately 8,000 National Guard service members from approximately 40 states and territories comprise JTF-DC to support the 60th Presidential Inauguration, continuing a legacy that began in 1789 when their predecessors escorted George Washington to the first inauguration. At the request of civil authorities, these National Guard service members provide critical support such as crowd management, traffic control points, CBRN response, civil disturbance response and sustainment operations. Task Force Brawler aircrew members from B Co, 2-238 gave Brawler and Air Force personnel the opportunity to ride in a CH-47 Chinook during a training flight that consisted of Crew Chief progression.
