Deciding when to release the arrow.
I had hoped for something a bit more spectacular for the theme, but this was a week of very little action.
A visit to Hampton Court Castle Gardens & Parkland on the August Bank Holiday Monday.
The main events on this Bank Holiday were Jousting & Birds of Prey.
Six Horse Jousting with Cavalry of Heroes at Hampton Court Castle in Herefordshire on the Bank Holiday weekend of the 28th and 29th August 2016.
The show went on for around half an hour. It was more than just jousting. The actors on the horses going around trying to hit targets. Even a sword fight at the end!
Had names such as "King Henry", "Sir Lancelot" and "Baldrick". Was also a "bad" team (the ones in dark clothing).

Westwood Marshes Mill was built in the late 18th century, possibly in 1798. It was worked by wind until 1940 and then damaged when used for target practice during World War Two. The mill was repaired in the 1950's but in October 1960 it was burnt out in an arson attack. It remains standing in a derelict state.
Westwood Marshes Mill is a three-storey tower mill, It had a boat-shaped cap which was winded by a tailpole and winch, in a similar manner to the smock mill at Herringfleet. There were four common sails carried on a cast-iron windshaft. The wooden brake wheel drove a wooden wallower which was carried on the wooden upright shaft.
This carries a cast-iron spur wheel which drives a cast-iron pit wheel with wooden cogs, carried on a wooden axle, as is the cast-iron scoop wheel with wooden paddles. Only the lower part of the upright shaft and the pit wheel and scoopwheel survived the fire. As well as the scoopwheel, the mill drove a pair of millstones which was used to grind feed for horses on the estate where the mill stood.

I couldn’t wait to try out my new ninja weapons that I got for my birthday. So I took the muffin who miraculously survived yesterdays cake slaughter (it wasn’t pretty, but pretty yummy he he) and decided to use it for target practicing.
I lit the candles and then used my throwing stars to snuff the them out again (as documented by action shot above). After that I used my ninja sword to cut off the top and then I ate it, ninja practice can be so rewarding :-)

WATERS NEAR GUAM (March 8, 2016) The guided-missile destroyer USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) conducts a quick draw 5-inch gunnery exercise during Multi Sail 2016. Multi Sail is a bilateral training exercise aimed at interoperability between the U.S. and Japanese forces. This exercise builds interoperability and benefits from realistic, shared training, enhancing our ability to work together to confront any contingency. I was told to upload this :P Somebody likes it. I don't think this is too impressive. Just the sun shining through some trees. Do you like it? What picture should I have taken here?
On New Year's Eve we went down to the family hunting cabin to do some target practice with friends. Mr Chiots wants to do this every month so he's ready for deer season this year. He's hoping to have 3 deer in the freezer after 2010 hunting season.

I think Argus was trying to apply some of its wartime experience making tank gunsight optics here! The rounded Leica-esque body style was new, but this lacked the rangefinder of the existing Argus C-3. Soon Argus followed up with the C4 and C44 built on the same body, but boasting a single-window rangefinder/viewfinder.

I think the mechanic said his name is Rick. He was having a difficult time getting the second engine to fire up. He suspected a bad coil. He was trying to get the tank ready for the new owner that was going to have it delivered to it's new home.
I recall my first experience with my first BB gun as being alone (and I did almost shoot my eye out!). This was a wonderful time full of thanks and excitement and attention to safety…
This is probably a shot from the fall of 1938. I am basing this
on the outfit my mom was wearing in the previous dated photo.
It could be as late as 1940, however.
My dad had three or four bolt-action single-shot 22 Caliber
rifles. Mom is holding one as you can clearly see.
Joey (model-released) shooting rifle in Hilo..took a zillion shots trying to capture the bullet coming out of the rifle, but no luck...I did get the shell casing though!

Of the two dozen pictures I took that evening this one was the best. Try to hold your hands still for 1/30 (or probably 1/15 or so) and you know why!
