A visit to Hampton Court Castle Gardens & Parkland on the August Bank Holiday Monday.

The main events on this Bank Holiday were Jousting & Birds of Prey.

Six Horse Jousting with Cavalry of Heroes at Hampton Court Castle in Herefordshire on the Bank Holiday weekend of the 28th and 29th August 2016.

The show went on for around half an hour. It was more than just jousting. The actors on the horses going around trying to hit targets. Even a sword fight at the end!

Had names such as "King Henry", "Sir Lancelot" and "Baldrick". Was also a "bad" team (the ones in dark clothing).

King Henry (the leader of the good guys in white)

The above words were written by Colleen on the back of this photo dated May 1957. It also says, "After target practice with N.Y. lic. plate". She certainly looks proud of herself. I love those harlequin shorts. One of my favorite I Love Lucy episodes has Ethel buying Lucy some Harlequin print pants for a birthday present. Oh, this was taken in Tucson, Arizona.

Not something that I would have chosen, but somebody did. I just hope that the first shot was from a looooong way off.

Klamath Falls has some very nice mountain bike trails. I have been riding them since 1988 when I bought my first mountain bike. Most of the trails in these photos are on public land but most of the trails are on private property and the mountain bikers have had full access for two decades.

Regrettably many of the trails are now the sites of land development, including some gated communities. Every time I ride or trail run up here, which is nearly every day, I see some new development. I am not complaining - it has been private land all these years and I am glad for the many years of terrific riding we have had. Who wouldn't want to live here? It is a wonderful place.

Target shooting!

YES! It was unloaded!

Nothing more fun than two or more country boys sharping their skills out behind the house. Living in a rural area has its advantages, and around these parts no one pays them any attention!

The former Piedmont Service Station in Chase City, Mecklenburg Couunty, Virginia is a classic structure with the Gulf orange and cobalt blue colors. The pull through area (port cochere) is expansive and covers a large area, including an asymmetrical wall pattern which matches the interesting angles of the covered area. The station dates from about 1925. It has been well-preserved, down to the decorfative pressed tin ceiling of the covered area (see images 8 and 9). A mechanic's bay is located on the left part of the building. The Gulf sign is complete with bullet holes. This must have been a prime location, occupying a corner lot. It's not in operation today. Is is a contributing structure in the Chase City Warehouse and Commercial Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places 12/11/2020 with reference number 100005923.
