Eastern Front. Prussians of Infanterie-Regiment von Wittich (3. Kurhessisches) Nr. 83 celebrate with some locals after a bit of small-bore rifle target practice.
The Regiment was part of the the 22nd Division, which was originally formed on 11th October 1866 and was headquartered in Kassel.
In World War I, the 22nd Infantry Division, fought initially on the Western Front, including in the Battle of Liège. It was soon sent to the Eastern Front, where it remained until October 1917. It fought in the First Battle of the Masurian Lakes and the Gorlice-Tarnów Offensive, and then participated in the Romanian Campaign.
After returning to the Western Front, it saw action in the 1918 German Spring Offensive, including the Second Battle of the Somme and the Second Battle of the Marne.
Allied intelligence noted that the division had good morale, but in 1918 rated it third class, albeit better on the defensive. Source - Wiki.

Came across this in the Gila Mountains in New Mexico. The entire building and everything around was riddled with bullets. Someone drew figures on the side and lots of bullets have been fired into them. They remind me of petroglyphs, expect for the two white ones.

It was nearly unbearable 90 something degree heat. Sweat was stinging my eyes & my clothes were glued to me. BUT, I’d have to say this was one of many moments that day when I just didn’t care. Went plinking with all my male buddies that day with a full on arsenal, taking out bowling pins & old bottles full of water, dancing them about the range. My Zen moment, where you think of nothing else. Not the heat, the bills, work, school, just hitting the target.
Vintage portrait image of a target practice head shot. This is an actual photograph of someone’s paper target from the shooting range. Graphics on the target are similar to those from the 1990s. I think someone took this photo and was going to use the image as a joke portrait (identification card or yearbook) and realized that almost any joke would be in poor taste. With that aside I thought that someone with an interest in portraiture might want to view this. This found photo comes from the personal collection of an unknown and/or unknowing art collector. It’s always a thrill when it’s from Vinnie DeVille!
Sarah wanted a Walther PPS or a Walther P22 for her birthday. She got both! This is a PPS and she's at the indoor firing range shooting it for the first time.

So this was me with the sawed-off shotgun. I loved it! Nothin like a crazy girl with a loaded weapon! Don't ask if I hit the target . . . I did. Actually I did better with this than with the pistol! = D

I took my oldest child, and only daughter, to the shooting range today. She did well, and learned quickly. I think the time in our back yard, with the BB gun has really helped ease her into it. The ideas of breathing slowly, sight picture, and some of the basics of firearm safety had already been learned. So, she was ready to do well today.
