Darchen (4,575 m),more properly known and still signposted as Lhara, was formerly an important sheep station for the nomads and their flocks. Until the late 1980s it still consisted at that time of only two permanent buildings. One survived the mass destruction of religious shrines during the Cultural Revolution, since it was said to have belonged to the Bhutanese government through the Drukpa Kagyu tradition, Which still claimed jurisdiction over it. More recently, Mount Kailash has become a popular destination for tourists and trekkers, and Darchen has correspondingly chanced out of all recognition. Sleaze, garbage and prostitution are the hallmarks of this once tranquil pilgrims'trailhead. Consequently many visitors and pilgrimage groups now prefer to camp further west at Darpoche or to stay at Jiu Gonpa beside Lake Manasarovar, and send their guide on ahead to make the final preparations for the circuit of the sacred mountain. ལྷ་ ར་ .

Benched in Southern California

An old pic of Hongkong taken during my last visit in September 2008. Have to contend with older photos as i really never had the chance to shoot. I really despise work to have spoiled my flickr life.... lol. But, without work, what would my life be? Ah.. life is so complicated, we cannot just live on both worlds at the same time. And setting priorities is at times a difficult thing to do.

Note; naruo0720 << this fu**ing sheyt is really mean and arrogant. Dunno what is wrong with this idiot, He said, "a poor photographer like you has no place in me". Given no choice, I had to block him as insanely egotistic people like him have no way to get a respect from me . On the otherhand, i never claimed to be a good photographer because I know that I am not..

If there is nothing good that you can say, just don't say anything, as as matter of respect.

It's a pile of leaves but it reminds me of a coastline.

Another cool spot in Bladen County. When I drove past this spot going to my in-laws in November, I made a note to stop back here on the way back home. Well, I drove right past it on that trip. Today, as I was driving back from my in-laws, I made sure not to miss it this time.

While I was taking pictures of it, I noticed a sign in front of the house by the tree. It is partially covered in vines, but if I blow it up, it says, "Smithfield Foods, Inc Engineering......" and then I can't read the rest. Right across the street from this is the largest pork processing plant IN THE WORLD, which is owned by Smithfield Foods in Tar Heel, NC. They obviously don't use this house anymore, and I'm having trouble determining the age of it, as the property tax records for this land shows four buildings on it, including a heath care center built in the 2000s that is just down the road (Smithfield Foods owns about 90 acres here that back up to the Cape Fear River). If I'm reading the information of the Bladen County GIS website correctly, this house could have been built in 1946. Either way, I think it is a lovely house, and it is deep and a lot bigger than it looks from the front. Shame that no one is using it.

Chushar, the capital of modern Lhartse county (4050m). This town is an important intersection where two main roads converge. Three river valleys extend upstream to the south of Chushar; the Trum chu, which leads via the Zhichen Chutsen hot springs to Sakya; the Mangkar chu which leads to the Mangkar hermitages; and the Chushar chu, which leads towards the watershed Gyatso la pass (5220 m).
