We grew up swimming and bathing in this river. It looks yucky now, but back then, when I was ten, we didn't know the difference.

Cafe Alicia, Pamplona, Tanjay, Negros, Philippine

[The Longest and almost the "Magnificentest"]

@Bayawan City, Negros Oriental

Bayawan City, Negros Oriental is the home of longest boulevard in the Philippines (about 3 kms & still extending). Along its length, the locals set up their stalls every night where you can eat tocino, bachoy, and matching puso delightfully with the sand between your toes.

Bayawan, officially the City of Bayawan or simply Bayawan City, is a first class component city in the 3rd Congressional District of the province of Negros Oriental, Philippines. At the 2010 census, it had a population of 114,074 people.

Bayawan is located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) from the provincial capital Dumaguete City and near the provincial border with Negros Occidental. It is a coastal city with a land area of 69,908 hectares (172,750 acres), the largest in the province. Mabinay bounds it to the north, Tanjay City and Bais City to the east, Sta. Catalina to the southeast and Basay to the west and it also shares a boundary with Kabankalan City of Negros Occidental on the northwest.

A typical scene during town fiesta . Some people are determined to play the extremes . Though I find it very amusing somehow people watching . Apart from the variety of food for free ( at my Aunt's lol - no gate crashing ) ,then the colourful fiesta parade , the cacophony of noises which can be deafening sometimes , the smells (can be pleasant and unpleasant ) , the hectic atmosphere ,too many people / difference faces , including some clinging their precious lives on a bus 50:50 at their own risk mainly due to lack of patience to wait for another one, as if it's the last trip to heaven .

A small goby which lives an amphibious life-style in the mangrove mud. These small fish can propel themselves forward by hopping. Hard to photograph since they are quite shy!

an overexposed shot that I tried to salvage with a few edits...

It’s been a long journey but by God’s grace and through the prayers and financial support of our friends and donors, we’re almost there. We’re getting closer to opening the doors of our orphanage facility in the Philippines.

The work to shelter and care for orphans, abused, neglected, and abandoned children is monumental and needs to be shared by every sector in society. We’re contributing to this work by constructing a Christian orphan care facility in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, Philippines.

Here are some highlights from this video report by the Managing Director of Philippine Mission Casa Esperanza of Angels, Mr. Ronald Brown:

:: Opening date of the facility

:: The need to construct a family cottage to administer the orphanage

:: The Sitio Baybay Community Outreach initiative

:: Progress on the construction of the first children’s home

There were some unavoidable delays during the construction of the first children’s house and the facility might not push through with the planned opening this year, but Mr. Brown confirmed that the facility will start accepting orphaned children late this year or early next year.
