A new visitor to the Wildlife Café. I had spotted this beauty on our weigela whilst we were doing some autumn pruning of our red robin. I went back to check later and it had tucked up under a leaf for the night, which allowed me to get a decent shot with the macro lens flash diffuser.

It's that time of year again. It's rare for a year to go by without finding a vapourer or rusty tussock moth caterpillar in the garden. This one is on a Japanese anemone leaf.

From our front garden this morning.

another from our gardens taken in dramatic light, this is an older file so I'm guessing that it was shot with a D5000 and Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro lens.

Needed a splash of colour on another grey day. Bit of an exercise in selective HSL.

Lots of rain and thunder/lightning this afternoon in the Wildlife Café, but our female bush cricket nymph doesn't seem to mind. She is growing fast and is now about 12mm long in the body.

More detail viewed large.

Cold enough overnight to freeze these...
