I've been taking a lot of photos with my Takumar 55mm's recently - for a new video. These lenses are a joy to use!

One of my oldest and rarest M42 lenses - the Takumar 58mm f2, from 1957. The lens has a Sonnar design that was dropped for subsequent 55mm lenses.

Adding to my album of photos with the rare Takumar 58mm f2.

This Sonnar design lens, made in the late 1950s, produces lovely colours. It's not bitingly sharp wide open, and the bokeh is a bit hit and miss. It's not surprising (to me) that Takumar replaced this lens with the Auto-Takumar 55mm f1.8
