B&W picture of the horses being led up to the starting line. I used a blue filter on this image as i really liked the effect it created. Reminds me of an old newspaper shot, particularly with the grain. It also draws attention to the horses and riders.

I went on a photowalk/drive today. I pulled into the local airport, and luckily there was a guy there who told me I could go wherever I wanted to shoot (thanks, Stan!). This defunct plane was in the old hangar. I was tempted to open the door and shoot inside, but I'm terrified of spiders and I was pretty sure there was a colony living in there. But the tinted window made for a cool effect anyway.

Gratitude (64) I am grateful for the ability to take walks.

Went for a walk today at noon - it was more like a shuffle, because the snow we've had today came up to my ankles.

Tonight the forecast is for freezing rain and sleet - and then about 5 more inches of snow on top of that tomorrow - hope we don't lose power! :{

A herd of pelicans came out of the spillway at Sardis Dam after fishing for shad in the rushing current. At the end of the spillway, they began one by one taking flight. Here you see the remainder trying to get airborne.
