To get to this house, take the only right on Dog House Lane.

That led me to the title of this one. I was thinking "Take a right on Dog House Lane" or something, but then it occured that it would be a better notion for a New Year image to have an element of forgiveness and compassion. Time for a reprieve from our self imposed confinements and take the opportunity to get a"new lease on life" or whatever to get out of your dog house and achieve your dreams! (all the above has really been just a sort of self-affirmation, heed your own advice, as it were!) But in the end I hope to make 2012 a real tipping point year, I'm gonna start buying Scratch Off Tickets!! just kidding about that last. Good luck youz guys! -Nate from Maine.

She was so sad that she couldn´t take her walk, since she coulnd´t use her camera in the rain, she thought about to take the car for a little ride.

But her husband had cleaned it the other day and he would be mad at her if she takeit for her strole and the car would get dirty again.

That´s how men are, they didn´t understand the needs of a woman...

These guys are going off to an "IT's Yours, Take It" (IYTI) art fest.

If you've never participated in an "It's Yours, Take It" now is a great time, there are two in preparation, one in New Orleans-art due by 12/8/2010 and one in Belfast - art due by Jan 2011

It's Yours, Take it ( IYTI ) are world wide free street art exhibits started by some very clever FLICKR members.

www.flickr.com/groups/itsyourstakeit/

Participation is open to everyone and it's a blast. Basically members of the FLICKR group IYTI volunteer to tack and nail up art in their city at a busy location and then let the passers-by choose a piece of free art to take. It was started by Street and Sticker Artists, but isn't limited to any particular kind of art. People from around the world mail pieces of art to the Members hosting an IYTI. On the day of the exhibit, photos are taken of the happy and often surprised pedestrians that have a chance to choose free art. The photos are posted on FLICKR at the IYTI site. This is a grass roots art movement, a chance for your art to be seen in a different city and different country. It's as easy as going to the FLICKR IYTI site and reading the discussions where the members that are hosting events will post info. Then just make the art and mail it off, and enjoy.

These little guys above are made from recycled upholstery samples and going to New Orleans.

Hello to new and returning members of 52 Weeks for Dogs! This is Carmen, our lab, border collie, who-really-knows pup. We adopted her as an adult dog almost 7 years ago. She is a wonderful companion, and pretty central to our universe. I'd love to shoot more action photos of her, but she's got a few ortho glitches, so it's not something we push. I tend to focus on her eyes in photos, but this year I'd like to try to limit that. Always open to suggestions! Looking forward to our third year here. :)

How I draw.

I use the software program Corel Painter 9 and a Wacom Electronic Pen and tablet to draw directly into my computer. To do the drawings, I start with a blank digital canvas usually about 850 by 1100 pixels and at 250 resolution. I start out by creating about 5 layers and start drawing on layer 4 or 5. As my picture progresses I create more layers as I need them. I usually end up with between 18 - 35 layers. I seldom know what I'm going to draw when I start. For me, with digital drawing, the doodles and/or rough sketches become the finished drawings because I correct, change, alter as I go. That makes drawing digitally very fluid, because I just keep trying different ideas on different layers and turning off any layers that don't work.

For Forest Patterns

For this piece I wanted the crowded look of a forest where there is so much going on that it is hard to see specifics. I started by creating my own “pattern fills” that I used on the trunk and leaves. The pattern fills are individual patterns that I digitally draw and then capture as a pattern bit map fill. I drew the tree trunks and then added layer after layer of leaves. The final digital piece has 39 layers, with 4 of the layers deleted because I did not like the way they worked with the piece. It’s so easy to experiment when drawing digitally, I try something on a new layer, and if it doesn’t help the picture, I simply delete that layer.

Check it out (or not, as you prefer). [NOTE: This photo uses the first of several props I've purchased for my 365. This particular prop arrived in the mail yesterday.]

I'm in love with my car. Had to take the old Jetta in for regular maintenance today, as well as some needed repairs. Helluva bill, let me tell ya. $540 worth of work! Meh! Fortunately, I've enough money in savings to cover it. Such is the cost of love.

I'm In Love With My Car, by Queen

The machine of a dream, such a clean machine,

With the pistons a pumpin', and the hubcaps all gleam

When I'm holding your wheel,

All I hear is your gear,

When my hand's on your grease gun,

Ooh, it's like a disease son,

I'm in love with my car, gotta feel for my automobile,

Get a grip on my boy racer rollbar,

Such a thrill when your radials squeal.

Told my girl I just had to forget her,

Rather buy me a new carburetor,

So she made traks sayin' this is the end now,

Cars don't talk back they're just four wheel friends now,

When I'm holding your wheel,

All I hear is your gear,

When I'm cruisin' in overdrive,

Don't have to listen to no run of the mill talk jive,

I'm in love with my car, gotta feel for my automobile,

I'm in love with my car, string back gloves in my automolove!

If you don't like the above, then might I suggest some Lithium. Trust me. It'll help. Even if you did like it, try the Lithium, anyway. It won't hurt. I promise. In fact, you might even enjoy it.

[SECOND NOTE: This was one of 55 images I took using the Camera Raw format in my 50D. It was my first time doing so. It was a true pain-in-the-arse, too. Although Photoshop Elements 4 for the Mac clearly has menu options showing that it will open photos in the Photoshop Raw and Camera Raw formats, it would not touch this image. ~fumes with rage!~ More and more it's looking like Photoshop and Apple and the law of "supply-and-demand" are conspiring to force me into buying a new laptop. ~sigh!~ I can't find PS CS2 for the life of me (not at any price), CS3 requires 64MB of VRAM and my laptop has only 32MB, and PS Elements 6 has the same VRAM requirements as CS3. ~plots the demise of Adobe and Apple!~ ]

[THIRD NOTE: This image was the result of conversion from RAW to JPG (using Canon's Digital Photo Professional), levels adjustments, desaturation of one layer, blending, a little cloning, brightness and contrast adjustments, some "tricks" to make sure the lens of the right eyecup was as gleaming as the left, unsharp masking it, and, finally, giving it a thorough bath with the sponge tool. After all that, I had to have me a drink of some good, hard liquor. Now, though, I'm gonna get back to loving my car, if you don't mind.]

I used to find that the one hand on the pram and the other holding something I obviously can't put down deterred must leaflet-wielders on a sunny Saturday on Gentleman's Walk, but times have obviously changed. Or those people handing these things out have just got more stupid. Perhaps she put it in his mouth.

Oi! Wake up! Your turn next!

This Page Is From A Fedders "2000 Air Conditioner Give-Away" Contest From 1962. This Shows the standard sized Fedders A/C but with the "Climatimer". The Climatimer is a clock that works like an alarm clock on a radio, except it turns the air conditioner on and off at whatever time you set it to do so. These are rather rare now days. if your lucky enough to have one of these, keep it (or give it to me). If you find one, TAKE IT!!

My hubby bought this one on ebay. Started out life as either a treadle or hand crank. Had been 'updated' to motorized. I bought a reproduction crank and took motor off. Only bad thing is that if I want to takeit somewhere, I have to take the crank off for the lid to fit

I'm such a procrastinating SOB. Happy soon to be circus take it show!
