I am so mortified. That woman has not changed my outfit in months, then she left that blasted kerchief on my head and my hair is SMASHED! I look horrible, but Tibiloo tagged me so here I am.

I went for a walk in the woods and started hearing the leaves moving. I looked around but didnt see anybody so I kept walking. Then I heard the leaves again. All I could think of was a big buck getting ready to plow me over! Then I saw Mama deer. Which I guess isnt much better seeing how a big buck could be following her! Anyway, I walked back up towards the house, just in case "we" weren't alone, and took my "shadows" picture in the clearing. Mt Juliet, Tn.
7. Umbenennungsfest für die Berliner M-Straße am Sonntag, 23. August 2020, dem
am Internationalen Tag zur Erinnerung an den Versklavungshandel und an seine Abschaffung.
Am 23. August 2020 jährt sich die Revolution der Versklavten auf Haiti zum 229. Mal. In Anerkennung der erfolgreichen Selbstbefreiung von Menschen afrikanischer Herkunft hat die UNO den 23. August 1998 zum Internationalen Tag der Erinnerung an den Versklavungshandel und an seine Abschaffung erklärt.
Die Mitgliedsorganisationen des Bündnisses Decolonize Berlin e.V. feierten an diesem Tag zugleich das 7. Umbenennungsfest für die diskriminierende Berliner M-Straße, die in Zukunft Anton Wilhelm Amo, Deutschlands ersten Schwarzen Universitätsgelehrten ehren soll. Amo steht nicht nur für die über dreihundertjährige Präsenz Schwarzer Menschen in Preußen, sondern auch für ihren anhaltenden Widerstand gegen rassistische Diskriminierung.
An Veranstaltung, Demonstration und Fest nahmen rund 300 Menschen teil.
Die Auftaktveranstaltung fand ab 13 Uhr am Lustgarten gegenüber dem Humboldt Forum im Berliner Schloss statt, um gegen Deutschlands neu errichtetes, größtes Kolonialdenkmal zu protestieren.
Dabei wurde nicht nur gegen die Ausstellung von geraubten Kulturgütern im Schloss der Hohenzollern-Herrscher Einspruch erhoben. Es wurde auch daran erinnert, dass in dem imperialen Gebäude mit goldenem Kuppelkreuz einst verschleppte und in der Schlosskapelle zwangsgetaufte minderjährige Schwarze als Hof- und Kammer-M. dienen mussten.
Gegen 15 Uhr zog die Demonstration vom Lustgarten zum Hausvogteiplatz/Ecke M-Straße.
Dort begann ab ca. 15:30 Uhr das 7. Straßenumbenennungsfest mit Musik, Redebeiträgen, Paneldiskussionen und endete gegen 19 Uhr mit der letzten symbolischen Straßenumbenennung in Anton-Wilhelm-Amo-Straße. Ab nächstes Jahr wird dann hier das Anton-Wilhelm-Amo-Fest in der Anton-Wilhelm-Amo-Straße stattfinden.
Die Bezirksverordneten-Versammlung von Berlin Mitte hatte Mitte August 2020 beschlossen, die M-Straße in Anton-Wilhelm-Amo-Straße umzubenennen. Dies dauert laut Bezirksbürgermeister Stephan von Dassel voraussichtlich nur rund ein halbes Jahr, wie er auf dem Fest erklärt hat.
