The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" the 26th of September is "reflection on black background". It was recently my birthday, and a very dear friend of mine gave me a Coalport bachelor’s coffee set which is hand painted with black stripes and dainty dots and curving lines, edged with a thin band of red. Unnamed, the pattern number is 7986. The china is so translucent, that you can see your shadow through it if you hold it to the light and place your finger between the light and the china’s edge. According to the backstamp, this set was made between 1891 and 1918, and it has that lovely look of Art Nouveau crossed with early Art Deco, and it looks lovely and striking reflected on a piece of mirror against a black velvet background. I hope you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile!

Coalport pottery was founded in Shropshire, England, by John Rose in 1795 and quickly became a leading producer of fine bone china, renowned for its intricate, hand-painted designs and innovative glazes, which were favoured by aristocracy and earned royal patronage. After several ownership changes and a move to Stoke-on-Trent in 1926, the company became part of the Wedgwood group in 1967, though its exquisite patterns, like "Indian Tree," remain highly collectible today.

These Dinner Plates Are Milton Bone China, gifted to use from a friend...they are rather special, and good memories

Bowls colourful. Light fantastic windowlight.

This is part of an M&S tableware set called Autumn Leaves.

I started collecting it when I got married over 50 years ago and have added to it over the years, often as because it was going out of fashion, but it's timeless to me.

It's stoneware and very long lasting.

for "Crazy Tuesday" theme is "tableware" .....

A friend of mine’s aunt said that “drinking tea from a thick pottery mug was as good as a slap in the face”. Whilst I don’t necessarily feel quite so strongly about drinking tea from an alternative, I do believe that there is nothing nicer than drinking tea from a fine porcelain cup. I think it is elegant, and keeps alive the fine tradition of taking elevenses or afternoon tea in a gracious fashion. In a world of utility, there is a certain charm in taking tea from a beautifully designed cup, painted with elegant flowers and gilt.

The theme for "Smile on Saturday" on the 13th of May is "mugs & co.", and I have opted for the "&co." by photographing a selection of some of my English china trios. I thought a selection of fine English bone china tea cups, decorated with beautiful flowers, would suit the theme. These cups are dedicated to the memory of Bella abella7460236 who was my beautiful and kind Flickr friend, with whom I first bonded over these very teacups. I hope you like my choice for the theme, and that it makes you smile!

For Macro Monday - Tableware

When the children were younger we bought a set of coloured ice cream bowls and spoons, four different colours. I chose the green because it looked better in an image. The bowl of the spoon measures 43 mm long x 27 mm wide.

Happy Macro Monday!

Macro Mondays - "Tableware"

Noritake pattern Floral Bay gifted as a wedding present. Originally only used for the Christmas table. Whilst taking these photographs for the theme I was reminded of my single life where my best friend would laugh, as I set the table and cooked a steak, made fresh salad and poured a glass of wine for myself at least once a week. "Why do you do that" she would ask, "I couldn't be bothered if I was single" It became known as my 'Table for One, dinner A must have treat for those who flew solo for such a long time. I still like to set the table and we now use the Noritake every day.

This little teacup and saucer belonged to my wife's grandmother. My wife isn't sure where it came from or how old it is just that it was given to her by her mom when Grandmother passed away. The saucer is 65mm diameter. This picture is a focus stack of 23images taken at 2.5mm intervals and merged using Affinity Photo. HMM and thank you for any views, faves and comments.
