I wanted to make a runner to coordinate with my new plates . . . and found this abstract fabric in my stash. I had originally used some of it to make sewn journal pages for a friend. I think the pattern was better suited for that project!
Guess this will just remain a table installation!
Happy Easter, everyone!
I love Christmas, and a Christmas with all the trimmings is just what I enjoy. Therefore Christmas luncheon had on the back terrace is a classic affair. Antique Edwardian salon chairs, Royal Albert "Val d'Or" tableware, crystal glasses, Sheffield cutlery, antique silverware and my grandmother's napkin rings, antique linen, embroidered napery, and festive Christmas crackers. However, it is my floral centrepiece that I enjoy most about my table setting every Christmas. This year my florist supplied me with cream, magenta and pale pink roses. The asparagus fern comes from my garden, as I like to create my own centrepieces.
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day and are enjoying the time between here and New Year's Eve.
The first part of the title is a custom in Estonia as told to me by my flickr friend, Tiina Gill...thanks Tiina:)

March 19th marked the first day of spring and the Iranian new year. Happy new year (or what is known as Nowrooz).
I set up this garden party for friends and family in my mum's backyard. We had Bonne Maman jam for favors.
The estancia, owned by the same family for over 100 years, is set in a 2,470 acre ranch that produces 12,000 liters of milk daily. It is used by the Uruguayan government when entertaining guests, offering them an authentic glimpse of Uruguayan life. Part of the fun is travelling to the river by choice of a hay truck, an old model T or a horse drawn carriage. A traditional barbeque (asado) is served accompanied by national wines.
We enjoyed our visit here very much. The barbeque was amazing.
This is my contribution for this week's theme "Festligt/Festive", for the Swedish photo group "Fotosondag".
This crazy, unsettled weather is bringing us all to drink, lol!
Hope you're all having a fabulous Friday my friends =)
There are no words to express my sincere appreciation to a very dear flickr friend who has graced our table the past few years with her amazingly gorgeous, hand-made doilies . . . both large and small . . . treasures beyond description.
This was a shot, pre-Christmas dinner, before the traditional fruit cup was placed in the special glasses!
Chilly days and nights followed by warm traces of summer are becoming more the norm now....fall is on its way.

... the favourite animal of my grandson Wannes... and a napkin for his next birthday party...
I asked the Zebra...
Are you black with white stripes? Or white with black stripes?
And the Zebra asked me...
Are you good with bad habits? Or are you bad with good habits?
Are you noisy with quiet times? Or are you quiet with noisy times?
Are you happy with some sad days? Or are you sad with some happy days?
Are you neat with some sloppy ways? Or are you sloppy with some neat ways?
And on and on and on and on and on and on he went.
I'll never ask a zebra about stripes again.

I love Christmas, and a Christmas with all the trimmings is just what I enjoy. It is my floral centrepiece that I enjoy most about my table setting every Christmas. This year my florist supplied me with cream, fiery orange and deep red roses. The photos don't do the red or the orange justice. The asparagus fern comes from my garden, as I like to create my own centrepieces.
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day and are enjoying the time between here and New Year's Eve.

Here is another capture from one of our favorite restaurants in Providence, RI . . . eclectic tastes in style and food . . . this was shot from our table for two up in a small balcony alcove!
Bon Appétit!
A discarded pop bottle and some flowers/weeds make for a nice picnic table setting for the campsite.
With sincere appreciation to all who stop in to view or fave any of my images and most especially those of you able to take time to leave a comment -- thank you.
The best part of these long nights is sharing a cozy meal out with a cherished friend. This is along the Mendocino Coast in Northern California, on a chilly winter evening.
TECHIE NOTES:
8 second exposure @ f/11 and 100 ISO.
Lighting this shot with its strong contrasts, took some ingenuity:
~ Natural light from outside.
~ Natural light from the candle.
~ A bounce flash through a diffusing white umbrella pointed at the ceiling to brighten the interior.
~ My trusty little LED flashlight to 'paint' the plates with light for just a second or so during the 8 second exposure.
~ A little ambient light from incandescent lamps about 20 feet away, behind where I was standing.
Photo taken in RAW. Sunset was at 4:52. I took this photo at 5:29. But I had set up the shot earlier. When the scene was set, I bracketed and tested every several minutes as the daylight decreased and dusk approached, to ensure a good final shot. Because of the different kinds of lighting, the white temp in camera was set at 'overcast'. White temp was adjusted in RAW converter very slightly. Dodged the table area in post processing a little to bring it forward to the eye. Adjusted color balance slightly. You can see where I 'light painted' the plates. They got a tiny splash of LED light from my flashlight during the exposure to bring up the details of the food.
‘Snails + Mail by Su_G’: My entry in Spoonflower's Snail Mail Design Challenge. (Mockup c/o Spoonflower - if you were planning to hold a vote counting party this could be a good start for the decor...)

In my city the mail often arrives pre-loved by snails. They're particularly fond of stamps. Maybe it's the glue.
The link for voting will be / was www.spoonflower.com/contest_voters_temp/new?contest_id=573 - open for one week only. There are 530 entries so far. Voting could be fun as I expect lots of different takes on the snail mail theme!

I love creating seasonal table setting installations,
but they're consistently a challenge to photograph as our antique table abuts a very bright plant window, so there are always light issues with reflections.
In addition, I've chosen a "copper" theme and was excited to find some very inexpensive silverware with copper tones! The runner is actually the backside of a quilted piece I made years ago!
Since I took this photo, I've changed the arrangement a bit more, adding two more glass swirling dodads which can be used as pen holders, chopstick bases, or just as decorations!
Happy Fall everyone!
