Love the way this works for tablewear!

This is an oil on panel, 16 x 20 inches. I’ve been looking at this artist’s paintings for some time now, but it took me a long time to find her. I love the casual realism in her artworks. They really speak to me. Garland’s website is www.gabriellegarland.org.

Outdoor Cafe table setting

After a day of sightseeing in Padova we stopped at Osteria L’Anfora (Via Del Son in 13) for a happy hour drink.

Central Padova is replete with many similar small venue - bar and restaurant combined.

"How wonderful it is to have such love" she expressed sheepishly.

Day 1/31

Hello again everyone. This year I'm going to attempt a daily mini tablescape for the month of October.

An outtake from the straberry jam photo shootings (table setting with overhead angle). Presenting strawberry-basil jam (left) and strawberry-vanilla jam (right).

I love Christmas, and a Christmas with all the trimmings is just what I enjoy. Therefore Christmas luncheon had on the back terrace is a classic affair. Antique Edwardian salon chairs, Royal Albert "Val d'Or" tableware, crystal glasses, Sheffield cutlery, antique silverware and my grandmother's napkin rings, antique linen, embroidered napery, and festive Christmas crackers. However, it is my floral centrepiece that I enjoy most about my table setting every Christmas. This year my florist supplied me with cream, magenta and pale pink roses. The asparagus fern comes from my garden, as I like to create my own centrepieces.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day and are enjoying the time between here and New Year's Eve.

Cheers to a wonderful Tuesday.

This is the tree driftwood-inspired sculpture within the public plaza of the Grosvenor Ambleside complex on West Vancouver’s waterfront.

The sculpture, the latest by local artist Douglas Coupland, measures 30 ft high, 30 feet wide and weighs 16,000 pounds.

Coupland’s inspiration for the concept comes from a piece of fir tree driftwood he came across in the 1960s at the residence of his late friend, Gordon Smith.

Coupland got the idea for the piece a number of years ago after he spied a spectacular piece of fir tree driftwood from the 1960s which Smith had collected and kept at his residence in West Vancouver.

“The concept of strolling and encountering these ‘drifted forms as if found on a beach’ is to recreate a favourite pastime for many West Vancouverites – beach combing along Ambleside’s shores.”

Tree Snag is made up of four layers of resin and fibreglass, for a water-tight installation.

A total of four installations by Coupland are found at the area, including the 2018-installed Float Stack and Whale Vertebra, and 2020-installed Deer Vertebra.

We've just visited a quirky cafe and there they had these cute salt and pepper shakers on the tables. A few quick re-arrangements and my TOP picture happened. Aren't they the cutest?

We love these big Belgian Waffles and fill them with blueberries and add a bit of whipped cream. They are very Scrumptious. The vase of pink peonies added a lovely touch of colour. I add good quality cinnamon to them and to my coffee which has no sugar ever for the last 30 years, nor cream! Waffles are an occasional treat.

Café Tortoni at Avenida de Mayo 825.

Yes, the cafe is a tourist magnet.

Café Tortoni is the oldest and perhaps best preserved of the city’s many officially recognised historic cafés, known as "bares notables".

Founded in 1858 in the neighbourhood of Monserrat, this elegant venue built by architect Alejandro Christophersen was frequented by important politicians and cultural icons of the day.

The cafe was founded by a French immigrant named Touan and named after a cafe in Paris.
