El AlfolĆ de la Sal Restaurant
In the historic town of Torrelaguna, in the vicinity of the Sierra de la Iglesia Parroquial de Santa MarĆa Magdalena, a new restaurant is located in an old rehabilitated building that was the old AlfolĆ de la Sal (Salt Storage) in Torrelaguna, built during the 14th century. The AlfolĆ de la Sal offers menus from Monday to Friday and a wide range of gastronomic possibilities, among which we highlight the roasts. They offer menus for groups, special seasonal menus. Some days, especially on weekends, they offer live musical performances (show performances two Saturdays a month) and they will soon be inaugurating a new space, the Alfoli caves from the 14th century.
Torrelaguna (Spanish pronunciation: [torelaĖÉ£una]) is a municipality in the Community of Madrid, Spain. It covers an area of 43.40 km2.[2] As of 2018, it has a population of 4,724.

Situated in the heart of Jarama valley, in the Northeast of the Comunidad Autónoma de Madrid, Torrelaguna is famous for its historical figures - it is the birthplace of Cardinal Cisneros and of Santa MarĆa de la Cabeza and it was the home to San Isidro Labrador - and for its architecture that is the reason it was declared National Historic and Artistic Heritage Site in 1974.
The most iconic place of the town is the beautiful Plaza Mayor, where we can see the Town Hall (founded by Cardinal Cisneros in 1514 as a granary) and the Church of Santa MarĆa Magdalena (one of the best examples of Madridās Gothic architecture holding remains of the poet Juan de Mena and the tombstone of Alfonso JimĆ©nez, Cardinal Cisnerosās father). We can also see the Hermanas Franciscanas Convent and the Cisneros Cross that was erected in 1802 in a place that used to be Cardinalās birth house. Cardinal is known to have been very generous with donations to make his home town a better place.
Walking around town you will also come across the remains of the old town wall from the 15th century, other religious monuments like Madre de Dios Franciscan Monastery, civil constructions like the recently renovated Alhóndiga, the Centro MontalbÔn or the Casa de la Cultura. Houses and mansions also deserve our attention, especially the Palacio Arteaga, the Palacio Salinas or the Casa Vargas.
As a fun fact, Torrelaguna was one of the filming locations for the film The Pride and the Passion starring Cary Grant and Sophia Loren.

My sister-in-law, niece, nephew and the nephew's girlfriend came for dinner, so I set the table with the good dishes.

There was some beautiful antique china, silverware, and glassware in the dining room. I love old stuff like that. You can see the kitchen outside the dining room window.
Thanks to playingwithbrushes for the texture.
Unfortunately it was raining when I was taking the pictures so my table setting doesn't look as cheery in the photos as it actually does when laid out. I had lots of fun mixing and matching the colours and could have gone on endlessly but I guess 12 is enough!
āI like to be admired from afar, and then complimented up close.ā

Why I love photography. It started 28 years ago with the birth of my first child... I didn't want to miss a thing, so photography was a way of DOCUMENTING my life. My three kids are grown and out of the house so my LOVE and PASSION for photography went into a different direction. It's about ME time,(when I can squeeze it in with work, etc...). It's a love of creating something that makes me happy, to stop and take notice and capture an image, capture the beauty, capture the moment in time that would normally go unnoticed by others. I love this shot because the party was over, the guests had gone home, there were dirty dishes and glasses everywhere... a beautiful mess!!!

I like to set the table and change up the crockery we use each week ... this is the setting for the coming week.
'Twas the night before Christmas, and the table was set... my family will be coming very early tomorrow for presents and breakfast, so I have set the festive table tonight.
