This is my Dahon Curve D3 with new upgrades. The upper part of the bike is pretty much all new parts. My foldie now sports a Pazzaz carbon seat post, Rido Glow-in-the-dark saddle, Radius VRO handle post, Syntace VRO clamps, AL carbon handle bar, and Ergon R2M magnesium grips.
The ride is different with the new parts. The handle post is stiffer and the bike now handles better. The parts also make the bike lighter.

After all the components were stripped off and thrown in a box, I started replacing everything except the headset and the bottom bracket which were still pretty smooth so I left 'em on. The chainring/crank arm combo and used Syntace bullhorn bars set me back $12 at another garage sale. The stem is a Cinelli Frog, it's super-weird looking. The cool Torelli embroidered saddle was $5 at the annual bicycle flea market at the local Vet's Building. The mousy little guy who sold it to me said the raised embroidery 'irritated' him when he rode, no complaints here. There aren't alot of options when you need a 25.8 seatpost so I found this goofy 'Post Moderne' on eBay for $12 or so. The stock center-pull brakes didn't reach the rim surface on the smaller 700c rims so they had to go. The new brakes are long reach Tektro 521AG and the levers are Cane Creek, I think the model was maybe 200tt. The Tektro brakes barely reach the braking surface on the rims so I may end up replacing them with Tektro extra-long reach R556 calipers, they're adjustable from 55-73mm. I decided to splurge and buy a Chris King singlespeed kit which was kind of a disappointment. The cog and the lockring are very nice but the spacers are all the same width so you can't fine-tune the position of the cog to get a perfect chain line, it's kind of hit or miss. It missed on mine so I bought another set of spacers (Spot Brand, maybe?) where the spacers are all different widths and now my chain line is nice and straight. I originally put on a set of super-skinny tires but they made me nervous so I ditched those in favor of the fatter 32c Continental Top Touring 2000 tires that you see here, I like them alot better.
