In front of the Shire Hall. I wonder if she realised. Probably not :-)
(For details of the statue see previous photo)
i love the pose he got into. my lens is weak so this is the best i could do from far away through glass. woodland park zoo seattle. gorgeous creature. i wish he had more space.
In a rare juxtaposition, the path of a commercial jetliner and that of a helicopter fall into a neat arrangement. To boot, one rotor blade aligns perfectly within the jet contrail.
I was set up in this road in the Sierra Madres, a fine mountain range in south-central Wyoming. This is a iconic spot called Aspen Alley. I was using my long lens and was bracketing when three cow elk trotted right into my shot. All I could do was fire the shutter and hope I was getting a decent image. Pure luck!
So I was walking through the 'hood with my family, enjoying Harry's, um, idiosyncratic approach to road hockey and in particular his elaborate fantasy goal celebrations.
I was telling Keira how in general showboating displays are rare in hockey. And that while I tend to dislike that sort of thing, I make some exceptions... I went on to tell Keira how much I enjoy watching Alexander Ovechkin, as the sheer joy he has for the game is so clearly evident, and his skill so amazing that I actually get a kick out of his hot-dogging.
At that very moment, I saw a piece of trash on the sidewalk. I picked it up and folded exactly as photographed here was a framed picture of Alexander O. himself, celebrating a goal.
Found this on the floor while I was at work on 11/21/2011. I was cleaning an office with a white rag and this string had fallen to the ground. Hadn't noticed that it fell right away. Found it later as I was walking through the office. On this particular day, my heart was fiercely aching. Some days are rather hard for me because of all of the negativity that I've had to deal with in my life. Life has never been easy for me and I'm always asking God for help and signs that I'm going to be okay and make it through the darkness. So, on this day, I really needed a sign. And this is what I found. I believe it corresponds with my 311 synchronicity in that "He has made everything beautiful in its time." This sign is a mesh of a butterfly, heart, and the infinity symbol. To me, it means that I as well as the world, are continuing to spiritually change/evolve into something beautiful and that it is our destiny. :-)
Although I took this photo before I'd even known that she had taken something similar - the processing in this photo was 100% inspired by this amazing work by my dear friend Denise (aquamirena). This doesn't come anywhere close to the consistently gorgeous work she produces - I can only aspire to her prolific talents. Do yourselves a favour and drop by her photostream - it's a feast for the eyes!
STRATEGIC SYNCHRONICITY
FUTURA - Pioneer of the American Urban Art Movement
Comes to LA for First Ever Solo Show
When: Thursday September 18th 2008 – Sunday September 21st, 2008
Where: Phantom Galleries LA at the Pacific Electric Lofts 610 S. Main St. Downtown LA, 90014
Preview for the Downtown LA Art Walk 6-10pm September 11, 2008
DowntownArtWalk.com
KRUNK presents, Strategic Synchronicity – an incredibly rare four-day event featuring the first ever LA solo-show by the internationally acclaimed graffiti artist & true pioneer of the American Urban Art movement – Futura. This once in a lifetime event starts on Thursday September 18th and will only continue until Sunday September 21st (in a secret location in Downtown LA). Then it's gone.
This, as perhaps Futura's most anticipated body of work ever, will showcase his extraordinary talent with a range of original canvases and drawings. Fans and art collectors will have a narrow window of opportunity to purchase original Futura art, with prices starting from $1,500 and upwards. The exhibition will not only showcase his new work but will also take a genuinely evolving organic form - a work in progress. This will be a truly historic occasion for fine art and street culture in the U.S. and should not be missed.
"LA was an obvious destination for me to showcase this collection. The city has so many incredible creatives who I consider as friends and whose work I respect enormously. It's about time I hit LA particularly with this collection. Above all, I'm looking forward to having some fun presenting AND creating this new work in LA." Futura
What to expect: Futura's past experience merges with his vision of the future, combining his tendency towards meticulous precision with his trademark free-flowing spraycan techniques. His art appears effortless in its abstraction with commentary on themes such as 'space' and 'the future' and his interpretation of 'the present'. Those lucky enough to be present might spot an 'old friend' in his work (perhaps for the last time?) as well as some incredible advancements and developments of his art form:
Futura has always had a keen interest and somewhat of an obsession with the latest technologies, so expect to see canvases stretched onto aluminium (in order to prevent warping due to environmental factors), pieces complemented by specifically devised music scores and film trials and much more.
"I consider this collection my best work yet, when I started on it I could feel myself about to explode. All these years of development and it reflects my growth and evolution. I want this work considered on its merits….and in that sense, I'm going right back to the beginning." Futura

I realised that I have loads of photos from our best friend's wedding last year, where I was the main photographer. So I thought i'd start to post a few more up, starting with this one of the bridesmaids in procession. I love how they are perfectly in synch.
