Had a weird couple of days and been out of whack @__@ Hopefully Ill be able to plug myself back soon. Later everyone :)
So I have been isolated with my 94 year old "Mother in Law" who tested positive for Corona-virus, since last Friday.
So far neither of us has any symptoms. Don't get me wrong I am grateful not to feel ill, but it is a bit odd.
It has given me plenty of time to experiment with "Adobe Lightroom" and a few self portraits; generally I don't look very cheerful in any of them.
I have been trying the wifi control on my Olympus EM5, it seems to work pretty well, but you have to remember to look at the camera and not your phone when doing a selfie.
Had to have a tinker with this in CS5, I mirrored the original image on another layer then created a smart layer and applied a glass ripple effect using a displacement map created earlier. I'm not sure how convincing it is but thought I would give it a try. You can tell its raining out and I'm having withdrawal symptoms :).
So, last week I met a guy. We ended up having sex.
He was good looking, nice and so we swapped phone numbers.
All well and good.
Then on Friday I get a message.
“I got tested positive for Syphilis, you need to get checked out. Sorry.”
(there was more in the message, but that’s all I saw).
So, being the cosmopolitan city boy I am, I trotted along to the clinic on Monday morning for a check up.
The doctor said it would be too early to see any symptoms or even find any antibodies, but I do have the option of getting treated for it – as a pre-emptive measure.
So I figure, okay, it’ll be two tablets and glass of water. So I agreed.
A nurse comes and takes all the swabs, blood tests and samples given – I know the routine. I’ve get an M.O.T. regularly.
Later I get called by a different nurse. She says she has been assigned to give me the treatment.
“Have you had it before?”
“No”, I say
“Oh, well there is no way to suger-coat it. Its going to hurt”
-two tablets and a glass of water? Hurt?
And out come the needles. Two of them. One for each buttock.
And she was right, it did hurt. Really hurt.
Will I see the guy again? I value honesty and respect above all else.
I think a “round two” might be in order. Well ,,, after the injection does its job.

Paracelsus beklagt sich bitterlich in zwei Briefen an den Juristen Bonifacius vom 28.2.1528 und 4.3.1528 mit der Erkenntnis: "Wahrheit trägt Hass ein" (S.234).Nun, so einfach stimmt das nicht, denn Paracelsus hat doch mit Polemiken und mit Zwangsumstrukturierungen im Medizinalwesen in Basel einigen Widerstand auf sich gezogen, und eigenartigerweise kann er nie ein Dokument über seinen Doktortitel vorweisen. Er konnte doch damit rechnen, dass unter seinen Schülern in Basel die Söhne mancher Ärzte und Apotheker sassen, die von den Umstrukturierungen betroffen waren. Ausserdem steht die Schweiz ein Jahr vor der Reformation und die Stimmung ist allgemein derart aufgeheizt, dass die politischen Verantwortlichen nicht mehr wissen, für welche Seite sie sich denn nun entscheiden sollen. Kurz gesagt, Paracelsus will zu viel in zu kurzer Zeit verändern, und dies provoziert harten Widerstand].
Zerwürfnis in Colmar mit Laurentius Fried - Buch über die SyphilisAb ungefähr April 1528 kommt es dann in Colmar selbst zu einem weiteren Zerwürfnis, dieses Mal zwischen Paracelsus und Laurentius Fried wegen immer stärkeren Meinungsverschiedenheiten zur Medizin oder zum Vorgehen in der Medizin (S.234).Aber die Kraft zu neuen Publikationen ist bei Paracelsus auch in Colmar ungebrochen. Am 11.6.1528 wird ein Buch von Paracelsus über die Syphilis publiziert "Von chemy und heilung der Franzosen neun Bücher" ["Von Chemie und der Heilung der Syphilis neun Bücher"]dem Bürgermeister der Stadt Colmar, Hieronymus Boner, gewidmet (S.96) Im Jahre 1528 ist Paracelsus generell wieder dauernd auf der Suche nach Heilmitteln (S.11). Ab 1529 beginnt für Paracelsus dann wieder eine regelrechte "Schreibphase" mit Arbeit-- am Chirurgiebuch "Bertheonea"-- am "Spitalbuch"-- am Buch über Geschwüre und offene Schädel-- an 10 Kapiteln über die Französische Krankheit (Syphilis) (S.234). 1529 Reformation in der Schweiz Das Jahr 1529 ist auch ein "christliches" Revolutionsjahr mit vielen "Bilderstürmen und Vertreibungen katholischer Angestellter:
-- Gossau: Bildersturm und Vertreibung des katholischen Abt Diethelm Blarer von Wartensee (S.34)-- St. Gallen: Bildersturm und Vertreibung des katholischen Abt Franz Gaisberg (S.34)
-- Zürich: Reformation: Zwingli und Leo Jud (S.60). Führender Reformator ist Zwingli, zweiter Mann ist Leo Jud mit gutem Verhältnis zu Paracelsus (S.60). Leo Jud hat nicht nur gute Worte für Paracelsus, sondern hilft ihm auch mit Taten mit der Herausgabe von Paracelsus-Schriften (S.75). Paracelsus selbst ist religiös unentschlossen und besucht kaum religiöse Veranstaltungen (S.68). Dafür publiziert er sein nächstes Buch: 1529 Buch zur Syphilis: "Vom Ursprung und Herkommen der Franzosen sampt der Rezepten Heilung 8 Bücher" (S.60,250) Die astrologisch-stilistische Betrachtungsweise von Paracelsus über die Syphilis
-- Paracelsus betrachtet nicht nur die Symptome ganzheitlich, sondern auch den Zustand des einzelnen Patienten in Seele, Körper und Geist-- Paracelsus betreibt bezüglich Syphilis auch Exosemiotik: Er behauptet astrale Bezüge, historische Bezüge, Sternkonstellationen, Regenbogen als Zeichen etc. (S.252).-- Paracelsus behauptet fest, die Syphilis sei nicht von den Ureinwohnern aus Süd-"Amerika" importiert sondern stamme aus Europa selbst im Zusammenhang mit Planetenkonstellation und Luxus (S.252) bzw. oo es sei ein astraler Faktor, genannt "Venus", dabei zu berücksichtigen (S.253): Der Lauf der Planeten regiert gemäss Paracelsus Krankheitskonstellationen: Venus ist im astrologischen Denken von Paracelsus "eine Mutter der Krankheit für den so genannten unteren Himmel" (S.254), für den Mann (S.161) mit Faktoren Zeit, Triebhaftigkeit und Grenzenlosigkeit, wobei ein weiser Mann diese Faktoren beherrscht (S.254)
oo ausserdem sei ein Infektionsfaktor, genannt "Luxus", zu berücksichtigen (S.253): Wenn Venus am Himmel ist, dann ist Luxus, eine "Mutter" der Krankheit, nicht mehr weit: Geschwüre stehen bereit, aus den Frauen in die Männer übertragen zu werden (S.254); und ein voller Magen im "Luxus" ist Voraussetzung für die Lust, die die Übertragung im "Spiritus peccans" (im "schädlichen Geist") möglich macht (S.255)oo gemäss Paracelsus müssen äussere Konstellation von "Venus" und innere Konstellation von "Luxus" zusammenwirken, um die Syphilis auszulösen (S.255)
oo der "spiritus" macht den Samen und zeugt die Kinder, so die Vorstellung von Paracelsus (S.255)oo ausserdem ist ein medizinisch-therapeutischer Gesichtspunkt zu berücksichtigen in Anlehnung an die allgemeine Lehre zu den Geschwüren, genannt "Crepinus" (S.253-254)-- Paracelsus stellt befriedigend fest, dass das Auftreten der Syphilis die alte Viersäftelehre absolut in Frage stellt, denn die "Klassiker" der Medizin hätten zu dieser Krankheit noch nie etwas geschrieben (S.254).[Nun, eigenartigerweise tauchte die Syphilis in Europa aber genau ab der Rückkehr von Kolumbus mit seinen menschlichen "Geschenken" aus Süd-"Amerika" auf. Diese Tatsache wird von Paracelsus verdrängt].Verlegenheitsrezepte von Paracelsus gegen die Syphilis Pirmin Meier: "Entgegen dem allgemeinen Lob der paracelsischen Syphilisideologie scheinen die zahlreichen Kuren, die er in seinen Studien zur grossen Seuche anführt, eher Ausdruck von Verlegenheit zu sein": -- Schwitztränke
-- Salzpräparate-- Arsen, äusserlich angewandt-- gemässigte Quecksilbertherapie-- allerlei Öle-- schweflige Lösungen
-- Heilpflanzenpräparate wie oo Salomonssiegel oo Persicaria (Knöterichgewächs) oo Melisse oo Baldrian oo Aloe etc. (S.257)Die beste Vorsorge sei Keuschheit (S.258). [Das haben die katholischen Pfarrer sicher auch gesagt...]. Aber da ist noch ein Buch: 1529 Buch von Paracelsus: Volumen Paramirum Buch 1 und 2 Paracelsus behauptet: Der Mensch ist ein Zwischenstadium zwischen Urmaterie und Endmaterie-- zwischen der Ursprungsmaterie vor der Geburt und vollendeter Materie nach dem Tod-- der Mensch sei ein "mittel corpus" zwischen "prima materia" und "ultima materia" (S.102) Paracelsus behauptet: Die fünf Gründe der Krankheiten / die "fünf Fürsten": Die Ganzheitlichkeit der verschiedenen Faktoren für eine Krankheit (S.307); diese "fünf Fürsten" sind programmatisch für das Verständnis von Paracelsus, sind für ihn erstrangig, haben für ihn erste Priorität (S.308).-- erste Krankheitsursache ist: das "ens astrale" / das Umgebende -- zweite Krankheitsursache ist: das "ens venale" / das Infizierende und Vergiftende
-- dritte Krankheitsursache ist: das "ens naturale" / das Verderbende und Konstituierende -- vierte Krankheitsursache ist: das "ens spirituale" / das Wüten aus dem Bewussten oder Unbewussten -- fünfte Krankheitsursache ist: das "ens dei" / das von oben Prüfende und Heimsuchende (S.308). Diese Fünfteilung des Krankwerdens ist weltweit die erste differenzierte Handhabung des Kausalitätsdenkens in der Medizin überhaupt (S.310). Paracelsus postuliert in seinem Buch "Volumen Paramirum": Patienten müssen differenziert betrachtet werden. Bei Krebs z.B. müssen umweltbedingte, ernährungsbedingte, erbbedingte oder auch psychische Faktoren berücksichtigt werden. Das Geschwür bringt gemäss Paracelsus sogar spirituelle "Mitteilungen". Wer nur einen Grund für eine Krankheit annimmt, versteht gemäss Paracelsus die Krankheit nicht (S.311). Auch eine einzige Heilungsart genügt nicht. Weder Homöopathie (Heilung mit Gleichem), noch Allopathie (Heilung durch Gegenmittel) haben eine Monopolstellung, sondern alle Heilmethoden sollen in Proportion zueinander stehen. Der Arzt soll sich leiten lassen von Erfahrenheit und Vernunft: "experimenta ac ratio" (S.317). Gemäss Pirmin Meier ergibt sich eine auffällige Parallelität zur alchemistischen Zahl 4 plus die Quintessenz als fünfte Stufe (S.308). Paracelsus teilt auch die Entien / Daseinszustände in 4 "heidnische" Bücher ein - mit der Beschreibung natürlicher Heilungen - denen ein fünftes "nichtheidnisches" Buch zugefügt ist mit der Beschreibung theologischer Betrachtungsweisen (S.308). Gemäss Pirmin Meier ergibt sich auch in der chinesischen Philosophie eine auffällige Parallelität zur Zahl 5, die in Europa aber wahrscheinlich nicht bekannt gewesen ist: -- 5 Eingeweide

(S.97,98):-- Paracelsus glaubt an tote und belebte Materie, dass die Körpermaterie des Menschen nach dem Tod anders ist als vor dem Tod bzw. Paracelsus meint, an Leichen seien wichtige Informationen nicht mehr vorhanden, die am lebenden Mensch noch vorhanden sind (S.100)-- Paracelsus gibt der Krankenbettmedizin die Basis (S.101)-- Paracelsus beschreibt das Wesen von Substanz mit "Sal-Merkur-Sulphur", was nicht als die trockenen Elemente Salz-Quecksilber (Hg)-Schwefel zu verstehen ist, sondern als eine Umschreibung von Eigenschaften bei Prozessen (S.100)
-- die 3 Prinzipien stehen für das "Lebendige", den "menschlichen Leib" mit der Seele (S.100)-- Gleichnis von Paracelsus zu den Elemente-Prozessen am Beispiel Holz (als Leib): oo Flamme entspricht Sulphur oo Rauch entspricht Mercurius / Quecksilber Hgoo Asche entspricht Salz (S.101)

Er benutzt dazu ein Gleichnis: Er sieht den Mensch als Baum und stellt sich vor, wie die Flammen lodern würden, wenn der Baum brennen würde. Paracelsus appelliert, alle Mediziner sollten solche "Feueraugen" entwickeln (S.102)
-- Alchimisten mit "arzneiischen Augen" sehen mehr Krankheiten als Menschen, die nur "Bauernaugen" haben (S.101)-- Paracelsus schlussfolgert auch, dass man die Wahrheit über den menschlichen Körper erst dann erfährt, wenn der Mensch eine Krankheit durchmacht, und ebenso im Tod (S.102); das gesunde Leben ist nie ein Frieden, weil immer eine Krankheit kommen kann (S.102). Arznei ist für Paracelsus Medizin, Kräfte der Natur und Kräfte des Glaubens (S.103). Die "männliche" Wirkung der 3 Prozesse der Paracelsus-Medizin: sal, mercurius und sulphur
Die Ursache von Krankheit beruht bei Paracelsus auf Störungen bei den 3 Prinzipien sal, mercurius und sulphur. Paracelsus wird damit zum Medizin-Revolutionär-- seine Heilkunst ist eine eher chemisch orientierte Heilkunst mit spezifischen Errungenschaften- er gibt eine neue Ordnung vor, mit männlichen Wirkungen, die zerstören: brennen / Brandstiftung (sulphur), faulen/auflösen (Salz konserviert, dann faulen die Dinge und geraten in Auflösung) und weglaufen (mercurius: Hg verdampft bereits bei Raumtemperatur) (S.104)-- der Prozess des Brennens erfolgt bei Krankheiten dabei durch Brennstoffe (genannnt "Sulphur") wie Harz, Gummi, Schmiere, Fett, Butter, Öl, Weingeist, Holz, Fleisch, Metalllösungen, brennbare Flüssigkeiten aus Steinen wie Petrol (S.104)-- Faulen und Auflösen von Stoffen ergibt sich durch einen "männischen" Einfluss eines Sterns oder Umwelteinfluss auf das Prinzip Sal. Der Stern wird als "Salzmann" dargestellt, der Salzsäure einsetzt. Die Konservierungseigenschaft des Sal geht dann ins Gegenteil über. Auflösende Wirkungen gehen aus von Kalken, Aschen, Kupferwässer, Antimon (Antimontrisulfid, Arsen genannt) (S.105)-- flüchten: Mercurius ist ein männlicher Meister im Davonlaufen, im sich französisch Verabschieden: Sonne / Wärme lässt Merkur verflüchtigen (S.105).
Definition von Krieg gegen Krankheiten - die positive Dosis
Paracelsus bezeichnet Krieg als das männlichste aller gesundheitsschädlichen Werke. Er vergleicht die Heilkunst auch mit Kriegskunst und bezeichnet Heilmittel auch als "Waffen der Arznei" (S.105). Die 3 Elemente müssen so "dressiert" / "gezähmt" werden, dass sie heilend wirken:
->> Feuer ("sulphur") wird so Bestandteil der Arznei
->> eine auflösende Wirkung ("sal") ist angebracht z.B. bei Steinkrankheiten (S.105). Umwandlungen im Magen - Meister "Archeus. Paracelsus personifiziert den Umwandlungsprozess im Magen durch einen "meister im magen", genannt "Archeus", der Verteiler und Verwandter aller Dinge, "Künstler und Arzt" (S.106)

Insgesamt wird der Mensch im Magen durch "Archeus" geformt und geschmiedet, so die Vorstellung von Paracelsus (S.106). Beispiele von Heilmitteln gemäss Paracelsus

Das "Tartarus-Buch" ist gemäss Pirmin Meier eine Glanzleistung (S.109). Steinkrankheiten -- Paracelsus beschreibt, wie Steinkrankheiten / Tartarus-Krankheiten entstehen (S. 99) -- der Salzgeist bildet Steine in Nieren und anderen Organen -- der Salzgeist bildet auch Weinsteine, Donnersteine, Hagelsteine, Meteoren (S.109) -- Paracelsus beschreibt weiter

-- Paracelsus beschreibt verschiedener Magenvorgänge / Umwandlungsvorgänge in den Gliedern, auch in der Nase, im Gehirn, in der Nase, im Auge, im Herz, in den Lungen und in den Hauptgliedern, wo "verdaut" / umgewandelt wird: mit Bränden, Gerinnungen, Steinbildungen, Ablagerungen, mit Hauptursache des "feurigen Salzgeistes" (S. 109)-- Paracelsus hat dabei die Vorstellung, dass im Mund und im Magen die Nahrung zu Blut und Fleisch etc. umgewandelt wird (S.133)

Mit der Definition einer Mundverdauung wird die Erkenntnis der Vorverdauung durch das Enzym Ptyalin vorweggenommen.Über Stoffabbau redet Paracelsus nicht, sondern immer von Stoffverwandlung (S.133).

(S.135) -- Zauberer und "Schwarzkünstler", die nur aus Sensationslust fasten, missbrauchen das Fasten -- Fasten soll aus religiösen Gründen und im Dienste der Gesundheit geschehen (S.133)
-- Paracelsus meint, "dass etliche krankheiten allein aus essen und trinken entspringen"-- Paracelsus lehnt Zwangsfasten ab, denn dies sei eine Schikane am Volk, wenn die Regierenden der Bevölkerung Fastentage vorschreiben und selbst in Saus und Braus schlemmen. Das Fasten von Klaus von Flüe mit Kräuterauflagen und Wasser. Paracelsus: -- "wie Bruder Claus und andere waldleut [...] nichts gessen hat, allein dass er zu aufenthaltung seines lebens etlich kreuter und wurzeln uf sein magen auswendig (äusserlich) ufs herzgrüeblein gelegt; und wenn das dürr ward, leget er andere drauf, und also hat er vil jar sein leben erhalten, auch sonst kein speis in seinen munt genomben, noch vil weniger hinab in sei magen verschlückt." (S.135)-- Niklaus von Flüe machte beim Fasten auch grosse, epilepsieähnliche Kämpfe durch (S.135)-- Paracelsus warnt vor den Gefahren des Fastens: Gemäss Meier sind mit dem Fasten "mannigfaltige physische, psychische und geistliche Gefahren" verbunden (S.135)-- Paracelsus erwähnt das Beispiel "Jesus" in der Wüste, denn es gelte "hierbei zu wissen, dass der teufel noch keinen unangefochten lässt, der in ein sollichs ernstlichs fasten sich begibt." (S.135) "Paracelsus" wird der "Humanistenname" für Theophrastus von Hohenheim - die Herkunft des Namens "Paracelsus"
(S.11) Ab 1529 wird der Name "Paracelsus" wird in Kalenderschriften geläufig, z.B. in der Nürnberger "Practica, gemacht auf Europen" (S.19). Es sind dafür zwei verschiedene Erklärungen möglich: Para-Celsus: heisst: "über Celsus hinausgehend": Celsus war ein spätrömischer, gelehrter Kompilator, Aulus Cornelius Celsius im 1. Jh. n. Chr. (S.199), wird aber von Paracelsus selbst nie erwähnt (S.200) die Bezeichnung "Paracelsus" wird gemäss Karl Bittel um 1528 vielleicht an einer Tafelrunde in Colmar erfunden, ein humanistisch inspirierter Saufname: "der Erhabene" (S.200)

There will be major withdrawal symptoms sweeping across the country of Canada in the next few days. The games started ominously with the tragic death of 21 year old Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili just hours before the opening ceremonies, an event which in that utterly shocking moment seemed to have brought an end to the games before they had even begun. Couldn't help but think of the superstitious curse of doom that is believed to hover over any & every theatrical production of Shakespeare's MacBeth. In its early days it was fraught with controversy about Whistler's sliding track where the accident had happened ( too fast, too dangerous? ), anquish about the endless rain & mild temps that all but wiped Cypress mountain clean of usable skiing conditions, outrage over Vanoc's decision to chain-link fence the outdoor cauldron at Jack Poole Plaza, to keep the public at bay. Many many hiccups, not to mention the public relations disaster that was the perceived arrogance of the "Own the Podium" slogan. Then something else happened that was far greater than anything that could have been anticipated. Olympic fever infected the whole country, from coast to coast the citizens of Canada turned 17 days into a collective experience of unparalleled proportions. It wasn't the Vancouver games after all, it was the Canada games. It began when 22 year old Alexandre Bilodeau, the sweet uncomplicated boy-man from Quebec, came to our attention when he won mogul gold & shared with the world his all-encompassing love for his handicapped brother, Frederic. It wasn't just about the delicious taste of first gold on olympic home soil, it was about the human condition of empathy & joy & pride. The moment's emotional content began its alchemy to unify us as a nation, to transform this country into one massive community of souls who cared, who were awed by the youth & strength & sublime physical beauty & committment to excellence of all the dedicated athletes who had gathered on the west coast from all over the globe. I am not a sports fan. You will never find the TV in my home tuned to a sports event or me sitting in an arena cheering for the home team. Winter or summer. Yet the passion I felt, along with millions of other Canadians during this olympic symphony, filled me to the brim & spilled over. Not what I was expecting at all. I had imagined that olympic saturation was going to become very tiresome. That I would be glad when it was over so that we could all get on with our lives. But that was before Jon Mongomery, an auctioneer with a maple leaf tattooed over his heart, everybody's 'bad boy', triumphantly marched through the cheering night crowds of Whistler Village, beer pitcher in hand, cocky grin on his face, looking like the happiest man alive. Before Joannie Rochette became everyone's brave heroine as she skated her programme wearing her crown of courage less than 48 hours after the sudden unexpected death of her mother in a Vancouver hotel room. Before Kim Yu Na of Korea showed us what flawless grace & beauty on ice is all about. Turns out it was less about 'owning the podium' and more about the power of a countrywide human experience, a defining moment in collective national pride. A magnificent excuse to wave the flag, sing the national anthem, to shout out loud "I am Canadian!" It was a one-off. An addiction to remember & savour for a long time to come. Wouldn't have missed it for the world *~*
And then....then.....in the final beats of olympic 2010 competition, tension & excitement as high as it could possibly be, the metaphoric 'sudden death' hanging nail-bitingly over the heads of the continent's two nations & young Sydney Crosby brings it to a bravo performance curtain with a shot on goal that he says he didn't even see go in. Compassion for the US team came easily. It was a big deal to them too. But a most fitting finale for the greatest party that Canada has ever held, a party where everyone was a welcome guest. Everyone!

Nyala
Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa. It covers an area of 19,485 km2 (7,523 sq mi) in the provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga in northeastern South Africa, and extends 360 km (220 mi) from north to south and 65 km (40 mi) from east to west. The administrative headquarters are in Skukuza. Areas of the park were first protected by the government of the South African Republic in 1898, and it became South Africa's first national park in 1926.
To the west and south of the Kruger National Park are the two South African provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga. In the north is Zimbabwe, and to the east is Mozambique. It is now part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a peace park that links Kruger National Park with the Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe, and with the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique.
The park is part of the Kruger to Canyons Biosphere an area designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as an International Man and Biosphere Reserve (the "Biosphere").
The park has nine main gates allowing entrance to the different camps.

The lowland nyala or simply nyala (Tragelaphus angasii), is a spiral-horned antelope native to southern Africa. It is a species of the family Bovidae and genus Tragelaphus, previously placed in genus Nyala. It was first described in 1849 by George French Angas. The body length is 135–195 cm (53–77 in), and it weighs 55–140 kg (121–309 lb). The coat is maroon or rufous brown in females and juveniles, but grows a dark brown or slate grey, often tinged with blue, in adult males. Females and young males have ten or more white stripes on their sides. Only males have horns, 60–83 cm (24–33 in) long and yellow-tipped. It exhibits the highest sexual dimorphism among the spiral-horned antelopes. It is not to be confused with the endangered mountain nyala living in the Bale region of Ethiopia).
The nyala is mainly active in the early morning and the late afternoon. It generally browses during the day if temperatures are 20–30 °C (68–86 °F) and during the night in the rainy season. As a herbivore, the nyala feeds upon foliage, fruits and grasses, and requires sufficient fresh water. A shy animal, it prefers water holes rather than open spaces. The nyala does not show signs of territoriality, and individuals' areas can overlap. They are very cautious creatures. They live in single-sex or mixed family groups of up to 10 individuals, but old males live alone. They inhabit thickets within dense and dry savanna woodlands. The main predators of the nyala are lion, leopard and African wild dog, while baboons and raptorial birds prey on juveniles. Mating peaks during spring and autumn. Males and females are sexually mature at 18 and 11–12 months of age respectively, though they are socially immature until five years old. After a gestational period of seven months, a single calf is born.
The nyala's range includes Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Eswatini, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. It has been introduced to Botswana and Namibia, and reintroduced to Eswatini, where it had been extinct since the 1950s. Its population is stable, and it has been listed as of least concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. The principal threats to the species are poaching and habitat loss resulting from human settlement. The males are highly prized as game animals in Africa.
Taxonomy and naming
The nyala was first described by George French Angas, an English naturalist, in 1849. The scientific name of nyala is Tragelaphus angasii. The name angasii is attributed to Angas, who said that John Edward Gray had named this species after Angas' father, George Fife Angas of South Australia. According to Article 50.1.1 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature and International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, though, this is insufficient to state Gray as the author. The name "nyala" is the Tsonga name for this antelope, which is likely the source of the English, along with Zulu inyala. Its first known use was in 1899. The word has a Bantu origin, similar to the Venda word dzì-nyálà (nyala buck).
The nyala is the second taxon to branch off from the tragelaphine family tree just after the lesser kudu. As the nyala line has remained separate for a considerable time (over 5 million years), some authorities have placed it in its own monotypic genus Nyala. Nyala was proposed in 1912 by American zoologist Edmund Heller, who also proposed Ammelaphus for the lesser kudu, but it was not widely recognized. It was re-erected as a valid genus in 2011 under the classification of Peter Grubb and Colin Groves, but has not been embraced by taxonomic authorities such as the Mammal Diversity Database.
In 2005, Sandi Willows-Munro (of the University of KwaZulu-Natal) and colleagues carried out a mitochondrial DNA analysis of the nine Tragelaphus species. Mitochondrial DNA and nuclear DNA data were compared. The results showed the tribe Tragelaphini to be monophyletic, with the lesser kudu (T. imberbis) basal in the phylogeny, followed by the nyala. On the basis of mitochondrial data, studies have estimated that the lesser kudu separated from its sister clade around 13.7 million years ago. However, nuclear DNA data shows lesser kudu and nyala forming a clade, which collectively separated from the sister clade 13.8 million years ago.
Genetics and evolution
The nyala has 55 male chromosomes and 56 female chromosomes. The Y chromosome has been translocated onto the 14th chromosome, as in other tragelaphids, but no inversion of the Y chromosome occurs. Cranial studies have shown that the mountain nyala and nyala, though sharing a common name, are actually distant relatives.
Fossil evidence suggests that the nyala has been a separate species since the end of the Miocene (5.8 million years ago). Genetic evidence suggests that the proto-nyala had some early hybridization with the proto-lesser kudu, but the two have remained separate long after this crossing.
Physical description
The nyala is a spiral-horned and middle-sized antelope, between a bushbuck and a kudu. It is considered the most sexually dimorphic antelope.[The nyala is typically between 135–195 cm (53–77 in) in head-and-body length. The male stands up to 110 cm (43 in), the female is up to 90 cm (3.0 ft) tall. Males weigh 98–125 kg (216–276 lb), while females weigh 55–68 kg (121–150 lb). Life expectancy of the nyala is about 19 years.
The coat is rusty or rufous brown in females and juveniles. It grows a dark brown or slate grey in adult males, often with a bluish tinge. Females and young males have ten or more white vertical stripes on their sides. Other markings are visible on the face, throat, flanks and thighs. Stripes are very reduced or absent in older males. Both males and females have a white chevron between their eyes, and a 40–55 cm (16–22 in) long bushy tail white underside. Both sexes have a dorsal crest of hair running right from the back of the head to the end of the tail. Males have another line of hair along the midline of their chest and belly.
Only the males have horns. Horns are 60–83 cm (24–33 in) long and yellow-tipped. There are one or two twists.The spoor is similar to that of the bushbuck, but larger. It is 5–6 cm (2.0–2.4 in) long. The feces resemble round to spherical pellets. The nyala has hairy glands on its feet, which leave their scent wherever it walks.
The condition of the nyala often varies between the sexes. According to a study, this can be attributed to the differences in their body sizes. It was noted that during nutritional stress, old adults died in more numbers, of which most were males. During an attempt of blood sampling in the nyala, it was found that Vitamin E levels varied during stress.
Parasites
A study of the helminths from 77 nyalas from four game reserves in Natal revealed the presence of ten nematode species and four nematode genera, a trematode species and paramphistomes (members of superfamily Paramphistomoidea), and two cestode genera. The research discovered new parasites that the nyala was host of - namely a Cooperia rotundispiculum race, Gaigeria pachyscelis, a Gongylonema species, Haemonchus vegliai, Impalaia tuberculata, an Oesophagostomum species, a Setaria species, Trichostrongylus deflexus, Trichostrongylus falculatus, the larval stage of a Taenia species, a Thysaniezia species and Schistosoma mattheei. Ostertagia harrisi and C. rotundispiculum were the most dominant nematodes in the antelope.
Another study of 97 blood samples of South African nyalas revealed the presence of tick-borne hemoparasites (blood parasites). The methods used were polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and reverse line blot (RLB) hybridization. The dominant parasites were Theileria species, T. buffeli, T. bicornis, Ehrlichia species, Anaplasma marginale and A. bovis. Ten tick species, two louse species and a louse fly species were recovered in a study of 73 nyalas at Umfolozi, Mkuzi and Ndumu Game Reserves in northeastern KwaZulu-Natal in 1983 and 1984 and an additional six individuals in 1994. It was found that nyalas were hosts to all stages of development in Boophilus decoloratus, Rhipicephalus appendiculatus and R. muehlensi and the immature stages of Amblyomma hebraeum and Rhipicephalus maculatus. Adult males served hosts to more number of ticks and lice than adult females did. Also, a trypanosome was isolated from a nyala, wild-caught in Mozambique, which was diagnosed and found as akin to Trypanosoma vivax, based on biological, morphological and molecular data.
Diseases
The nyala can also suffer from myopathy. In between January 1973 and June 1981, 21 nyalas succumbed to the disease. The main symptoms were stiffness, inability to rise, and failure to suckle in newborns. Necrosis (that is, the premature death of cells in a living tissue) and mineralization were found in the skeletal muscle after a histological analysis. In the juveniles there was acute necrosis of the cardiac muscle. In adults, there was interstitial fibrosis of the cardiac muscle, along with arteriosclerosis.
In a report published in 1994 entitled "Epidemiological observations on spongiform encephalopathies in captive wild animals in the British Isles", it was noted that spongiform encephalopathy had been diagnosed in one nyala captive in a zoo. The nyala was formerly affected by the disease rinderpest, although the viral disease is considered eradicated now.
Ecology and behavior
he nyala is active mainly in the early morning and late afternoon. It browses during the day if temperatures are 20–30 °C (68–86 °F) and during the night in rainy season. These antelopes rest in thick bushes during the hot hours of the day. The nyala is very shy and cautious in nature, and often remains hidden rather than coming out in the open. Most sightings of the nyala in the wild are at water holes. But in protected areas they become less shy and often come out in view of tourists.
Nyala groups are according to sex or mixed. Herds usually browse and drink water together. Each group consists of two to ten individuals. A study in Zinave National Park at Mozambique showed that 67% of the observations were of groups of one to three nyalas, and the rest of the herds consisted of up to 30 nyalas. Herds often broke up and re-formed. Generally adult males remain alone. Females often remain near their mothers when they have their offspring, so the relationships in female herds may be closer than those of males.
Alert and wary in nature, the nyala use a sharp, high, dog-like bark to warn others in a group of danger. This feature is mainly used by females. They also react to the alarm calls of impala, baboon and kudu. The impala has been found to react to the calls of the nyala as well. The main predators of nyala are lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted hyena, African wild dog and nile crocodile while baboons and raptorial birds are predators of juveniles.
Diet
As a herbivore, the nyala's diet consists of foliage, fruits, flowers and twigs. During the rainy season they feed upon the fresh grass. They need a regular intake of water, and thus choose places with a water source nearby. However, they are adapted to live in areas with only a seasonal availability of water. A study in Zululand showed that the nyala fed mainly in the early morning and the late afternoon. They feed at night during the rainy season.
A study in Mkhuze Game Reserve and Ndumu Game Reserve in Natal focused on the dietary habits of the impala and the nyala showed that the amount of dicotyledons in their diets varied seasonally. In the dry season, the nyala's dicotyledon diet content was 83.2% and the impala's 52%. In this season, the diet grew richer in fiber and dietary proteins were less. The reverse occurred in the rainy season. As the rainy season arrived, both species took to a diet of mainly monocotyledons, and the impala consumed more of them. The diet contained more proteins than fiber.
Another study was done to find whether the sexual dimorphism in the nyala influenced its foraging habits. Vegetation surveys were conducted with the end of each feeding bout. It was found that females spent equal periods of time foraging in all the three habitats, but males preferred sand forest more. More differences were noted, as males ate woody species at a greater average height whereas females fed from the low herbaceous layer. It was concluded that the differences resulted from varying nutritional and energetic demands according to their diverse body sizes and differing reproductive strategies.
Reproduction
The nyala breeds throughout the year, but mating peaks in spring and autumn. The reason for this is still unknown, but attributed to the photoperiod and the feeding habits of the animal. Females reach sexual maturity at 11 to 12 months of age and males at 18 months (though they are socially immature until five years old), though they begin to show active spermatogenesis at 14 months.
Before ovulation, the Graafian follicles reach a length of at least 6.7 cm (2.6 in). A female's estrous cycle is about 19 days long. Males will attempt to mate with the female for two days of the cycle, but she allows it for only six hours per cycle. When the male enters a females' herd during mating, he makes a display by raising his white dorsal crest, lowering his horns and moving stiffly. As in many other animals, the males fight over dominance during mating.
The kidney fat indices (KFIs) of impalas and nyalas have been studied to understand the influence of social class and reproduction on them. To determine the KFI, the kidney is removed and weighed with the fat and once again excluding the fat. The resultant difference is the amount of fat on the kidney. The more the fat, the healthier the animal. In rut, male nyalas had lower KFIs, which did not vary much with the season. Pregnant females of both nyala and impala had higher KFIs than non-pregnant ones.
There is a significant increase in corpus luteum in the last third of gestation. Gestation is of seven months. A single calf is born, weighing 5 kg (11 lb). Birth takes place generally away from the sight of predators, in places such as a thicket. The calf remains hidden for up to 18 days, and the mother nurses it at regular intervals. The calf remains with its mother until the birth of the next calf, during which males in rut drive it away from the mother.
Habitat and distribution
The nyala inhabits dense lowland woodlands and thickets, mainly in southern Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and eastern South Africa. It chooses places with good quality grasslands as well as provision of fresh water. It also inhabits lush green river country. The nyala's natural range stretches across southeast Africa from the Lower Shire Valley in Malawi through Mozambique and Zimbabwe to eastern South Africa and Eswatini.
The geographic distribution of the nyala may be based on the genetic variation. According to a study of nyala in South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe, there was a marked difference in the gene frequencies at three microsatellite loci. Mitochondrial DNA analysis revealed the presence of a unique haplotype in individuals from each location. Thus, the geographic variation in the nyala may be due to a distribution pattern based on habitat specificity.
Today nyala are found in South African protected areas in the Ndumo Game Reserve, uMkuze Game Reserve and Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve, all in KwaZulu-Natal, as well as in Kruger National Park. As of 1999, 10–15% of nyala occurred on private land. Efforts are being made to retain the populations of nyala in Gorongosa National Park and Banhine National Park in Mozambique. Nyala also thrive in Lengwe National Park in Malawi.
Nyala have never been observed showing territoriality. Territories of either sex overlap extensively. The home ranges of males are approximately equal to that of females, about 10 square kilometres (3.9 sq mi) in area.
Threats and conservation
The major threats to the population of the nyala are poaching, habitat loss, agriculture and cattle grazing. Rinderpest outbreaks have also contributed in population loss. This species is currently of Least Concern, and the population is considered stable by both the IUCN and CITES. As of 1999, the total population of the nyala was around 32,000 individuals. More recent estimates show that South Africa has at least 30,000 nyalas, with 25,000 in KwaZulu-Natal. There are now more than 1,000 on protected areas and ranches in Eswatini. In Mozambique there are not more than 3,000, in Zimbabwe over 1,000, and numbers in Malawi have fallen from 3,000 to about 1,500. Namibia has the smallest population, at about 250.
Today over 80% of the total population is protected in national parks and sanctuaries, mostly in South African protected areas. In South Africa there is a high demand for adult males as game trophies.

Der Kruger-Nationalpark (deutsch häufig falsch Krüger-Nationalpark) ist das größte Wildschutzgebiet Südafrikas. Er liegt im Nordosten des Landes in der Landschaft des Lowveld auf dem Gebiet der Provinz Limpopo sowie des östlichen Abschnitts von Mpumalanga. Seine Fläche erstreckt sich vom Crocodile-River im Süden bis zum Limpopo, dem Grenzfluss zu Simbabwe, im Norden. Die Nord-Süd-Ausdehnung beträgt etwa 350 km, in Ost-West-Richtung ist der Park durchschnittlich 54 km breit und umfasst eine Fläche von rund 20.000 Quadratkilometern. Damit gehört er zu den größten Nationalparks in Afrika.
Das Schutzgebiet wurde am 26. März 1898 unter dem Präsidenten Paul Kruger als Sabie Game Reserve zum Schutz der Wildnis gegründet. 1926 erhielt das Gebiet den Status Nationalpark und wurde in seinen heutigen Namen umbenannt. Im Park leben 147 Säugetierarten inklusive der „Big Five“, außerdem etwa 507 Vogelarten und 114 Reptilienarten, 49 Fischarten und 34 Amphibienarten.

Der Nyala (Nyala angasii, Syn.: Tragelaphus angasii) ist eine südostafrikanische Antilope aus der Gruppe der Waldböcke. Zur Unterscheidung vom Bergnyala wird er manchmal auch als Flachland-Nyala oder Tiefland-Nyala bezeichnet. Die Bezeichnung Nyala stammt aus dem Swahili.
Der Nyala galt lange als eine der seltensten Antilopenarten. Strenge Schutzmaßnahmen haben dazu beigetragen, dass sich die Bestände wieder erholt haben. Trotzdem zählt der Nyala zu den immer noch sehr wenig erforschten Hornträgern.
Aussehen
Diese Antilopenart erreicht eine Kopfrumpflänge von 140 cm und eine Schulterhöhe von 110 cm. Das Gewicht beträgt 55 bis 125 kg, wobei Männchen deutlich größer und schwerer als Weibchen sind.
Weibchen und Männchen lassen sich vor allem anhand ihrer Körperfärbung unterscheiden: Während die viel größeren männlichen Tiere schiefergrau gefärbt sind und schraubenartig gedrehte Hörner tragen, die mit einer weißen Spitze versehen sind, sind die weiblichen Tiere ebenso wie Jungtiere hornlos und überwiegend rötlichbraun gefärbt. Alle Tiere haben bis zu 18 schmale, weiße Querstreifen. Die Männchen tragen sowohl eine lange, erektile Mähne, die das Rückgrat bedeckt, als auch von der Kehle bis zu den Hinterläufen hängende Bauchmähne. Dieses Merkmal unterscheidet sie von den meisten anderen Antilopenarten. Der buschige Schwanz ist bei beiden Geschlechtern an der Unterseite weiß.

Nyalas sind in Mosambik, Simbabwe und im äußersten Nordosten Südafrikas verbreitet. Eingeführt wurden sie außerdem in Nationalparks Botswanas und Südafrikas, in denen sie ursprünglich nicht heimisch gewesen waren. Sie leben bevorzugt in dichtem Buschwerk in der Nähe von Wasser. Das Vorkommen ist in den Naturschutzgebieten Hluhluwe/Umfolozi, Mkuzi, Ndumo und Krügerpark bekannt. In den letzten Jahren wurde ebenfalls eine Population im Isimangaliso Park wieder angesiedelt.
Lebensweise
Während Weibchen und Jungtiere kleine Herden bilden, sind die männlichen Tiere Einzelgänger. Die Nyalas ernähren sich vorwiegend von Laub, doch werden gelegentlich auch Gräser gefressen. Zu den Fressfeinden des Nyalas zählt unter anderem der Leopard, dieser hat jedoch keine signifikante Auswirkung auf den Bestand dieser Art.
Fortpflanzung
Nach einer Tragzeit von gut sieben Monaten bringt das Weibchen ein Junges zur Welt. Das Höchstalter der Tiefland-Nyalas liegt bei etwa 16 Jahren.

This common garden mint is not a native of these islands, though growing freely in every garden, but is originally a native of the Mediterranean region, and was introduced into Britain by the Romans, being largely cultivated not only by them, but also by the other Mediterranean nations. It was in great request by the Romans, and Pliny according to Gerard says of it: 'The smell of Mint does stir up the mind and the taste to a greedy desire of meate.' Ovid represents the hospitable Baucis and Philemon scouring their board with green mint before laying upon it the food intended for their divine guests. The Ancients believed that mint would prevent the coagulation of milk and its acid fermentation. Gerard, again quoting Pliny, says:
'It will not suffer milk to cruddle in the stomach, and therefore it is put in milk that is drunk, lest those that drink thereof should be strangled.'
Many other references to it in old writings - among them, that of the payment by the Pharisees of tithes of Mint, Anise and Cumin - prove that the herb has been highly esteemed for many centuries. Mint is mentioned in all early mediaeval lists of plants; it was very early grown in English gardens, and was certainly cultivated in the Convent gardens of the ninth century. Chaucer refers to 'a little path of mint's full and fennell greene. '
Turner states in his Herball (1568) that the garden mint of his time was also called 'Spere Mynte.' Gerard, in further praise of the herb, tells us that: 'the smell rejoiceth the heart of man, for which cause they used to strew it in chambers and places of recreation, pleasure and repose, where feasts and banquets are made.'
It has, in fact, been so universally esteemed, that it is to be found wild in nearly all the countries to which civilization has extended, and in America for 200 years it has been known as an escape from gardens, growing in moist soils and proving sometimes troublesome as a weed.
Parkinson, in his Garden of Pleasure, mentions 'divers sorts of mint's both of the garden and wilde, of the woods, mountain and standing pools or waters' and says:
'Mint's are sometimes used in Baths with Balm and other herbs as a help to comfort and strengthen the nerves and sinews. It is much used either outwardly applied or inwardly drunk to strengthen and comfort weak stomachs.'
The Ancients used mint to scent their bath water and as a restorative, as we use smelling salts to-day. In Athens where every part of the body was perfumed with a different scent mint was specially designated to the arms.
Gerard says of its medicinal properties:
'It is good against watering eyes and all manner of breakings out on the head and sores. It is applied with salt to the bitings of mad dogs.... They lay it on the stinging of wasps and bees with good success.'
Culpepper gives nearly forty distinct maladies for which mint is 'singularly good.'
'Being smelled into,' he says, 'it is comfortable for the head and memory, and a decoction when used as a gargle, cures the mouth and gums, when sore.' Again, 'Garden Mint is most useful to wash children's heads when the latter are inclined to sores, and Wild Mint, mixed with vinegar is an excellent wash to get rid of scurf. Rose leaves and mint, heated and applied outwardly cause rest and sleep.'
In the fourteenth century, mint was used for whitening the teeth, and its distilled oil is still used to flavour tooth-pastes, etc., and in America, especially, to flavour confectionery, chewing gums, and also to perfume soap.
Mint otto's have more power than any other aromatic to overcome the smell of tobacco.
The application of a strong decoction of Spearmint is said to cure chapped hands.
Mice are so averse to the smell of mint, either fresh or dried, that they will leave untouched any food where it is scattered. As mice love Henbane and often prove very destructive to a crop, it has been suggested that their depredations might be checked if some mint were planted between the rows of Henbane.
It is probable that Spearmint was introduced by the Pilgrim Fathers when they landed in America, as it is mentioned among many other plants brought out from England, in a list given by John Josselyn. When in this country apparently found growing wild, it occurs in watery places, but is rather rare.
Professor Henslow (Origin and History of our Garden Vegetables) does not consider it truly native to any country. He says:
'The Garden Mint (Mentha viridis, Linn.) is a cultivated form of M. sylvestris (Linn.), the Horse Mint, which is recorded as cultivated at Aleppo. Either M. sylvestris, or some form approaching M. viridis, which is not known as a truly wild plant, was probably the mint of Scripture.'
Bentham also considers it not improbably a variety of M. sylvestris, perpetuated through its ready propagation by suckers, and though these two plants are sufficiently distinct as found in England, yet continental forms occur which bridge over their differences.
Its generic name, Mentha, is derived from the mythological origin ascribed to it, and was originally applied to the mint by Theophrastus. Menthe was a nymph, who because of the love Pluto bore her, was metamorphosed by Proserpine, from motives of jealousy, into the plant we now call mint
Description---From creeping root-stocks, erect, square stems rise to a height of about 2 feet, bearing very short-stalked, acute-pointed, lance-shaped, wrinkled, bright green leaves, with finely toothed edges and smooth surfaces, the ribs very prominent beneath. The small flowers are densely arranged in whorls or rings in the axils of the upper leaves, forming cylindrical, slender, tapering spikes, pinkish or lilac in colour. The little labiate flowers are followed by very few, roundish, minute brown seeds. The taste and odour of the plant are very characteristic.
There are several forms of Garden Mint, the true variety being of bold, upright growth, with fairly large and broad leaves, pointed and sharply serrated (or toothed) at the edges and of a rich, bright, green colour. Another variety, sometimes sold as Spearmint (M. cardiaca), is much smaller and less erect in growth, with darker leaves, the whorls of flowers distant and leafy, but possessing the same odour and flavour, and another has comparatively large, broad or rounded leaves. Yet another has soft hairs, but this, though distinct from what is known as Horse Mint, is inferior to the true Spearmint.
Cultivation---A moist situation is preferable, but mint will succeed in almost any soil when once started into growth, though in dry, sandy soils it is sometimes difficult to grow, and should be planted in the coolest and dampest situations. Leaf mould, road scrapings, burnt ash and similar materials should, on the other hand, be used freely for lightening heavy, tenacious soils. It does best in a partially shaded position: if in a sheltered spot, it will start earlier in the spring than if exposed. Where a long or regular supply is required, it is a good plan to have at least one bed in a sunny and sheltered, and another in a shady position, where gatherings may be made both early and late.
As the plant is a perennial, spreading by means of its underground, creeping stems propagation may be easily effected by lifting the roots in February or March, dividing them - every piece showing a joint will grow - and planting again in shallow trenches, covering with 2 inches of soil. Six inches apart in the rows and 8 inches between the rows are the right distances to allow. Cuttings in summer or offsets in spring may also be utilized for increasing a stock. Cuttings may be taken at almost any time during the summer, always choosing the young shoots, these being struck on a shady border of light soil and kept moist, or a better plan, if possible, is to insert them in a frame, keeping them close and moist till rooted. Cuttings or young shoots will also strike freely in good-sized boxes in a heated greenhouse, in the early spring, and after the tops have been taken off two or three times for use, the plants may be hardened off and planted outside.
The beds are much benefited by an annual top-dressing of rich soil, applied towards the close of autumn, when all remaining stalks should be cut down to the ground. A liberal top-dressing of short, decayed manure, such as that from an old hot-bed or mushroom bed, annually, either in the spring, when it commences to grow, or better still, perhaps, after the first or second cutting, will ensure luxuriant growth. Frequent cuttings of shoots constitute a great drain on the plants, and if not properly nourished they will fail, more or less. To have really good mint, the plantation should be re-made about every three years, or failing that, it is essential that a good top-dressing of rich soil be added.
A good stock should be kept up, so that plenty may be available for forcing. Cultivators having a greenhouse can easily force mint into an earlier development of new growth than would be in the open garden. Forcing is very easy, the only preparation being the insertion of a quantity of good roots in a box of light soil, which should be placed in a temperature of about 60 degrees and watered freely as soon as growth starts. Cuttings may be made in two or three weeks. Forcing will generally be necessary from November to May - a succession being kept up by the introduction, at intervals of about three weeks, of an additional supply of roots, as forced roots soon decay. Often mint is so grown both upon and under the benches in greenhouses, and the demand for the young, tender stems and leaves during the winter is sufficient to make the plants pay well.
Mint Disease---Unfortunately, mint is susceptible to a disease which in some gardens has completely destroyed it. This disease, which from its characteristic symptoms is known as Rust, is incurable. The fungus (Puccinia Mentha) which causes it develops inside the plant, and therefore cannot be reached by any purgicide, and as it is perennial, it cannot be got rid of by cutting off the latter. All that can be done is to prevent the spread of the disease by digging up all plants that show any sign of rust. The same ground should not be used again for mint for several years. Healthy stock should be obtained and planted in uninfected soil, some distance away. On account of this liability of mint to rust, it is advisable not to have it all in one bed, but to have several beds of it, placed at some distance from each other
Harvesting---When the plants are breaking into bloom, the stalks should be cut a few inches above the root, on a dry day, after the dew has disappeared, and before the hot sun has taken any oil from the leaves, and dried for culinary use for the winter. All discoloured and insect-eaten leaves should be removed and the stems tied loosely into bunches and hung to dry on strings in the usual manner directed for 'bunched' herbs. The bunches should be nearly equal in length and uniform in size to facilitate packing, if intended for sale, and placed when dry in airtight boxes to prevent re-absorption of moisture.
The leaves may also be stripped from the stems as soon as thoroughly dry and rubbed through a fine sieve, so as to be freed from stalks as much as possible, or pounded in a mortar and thus powdered, stored in stoppered bottles or tins rendered airtight. If preparing for market and not for home use, the rubbed herbs will, of course, command a higher price than the bunched herbs, and should be put up in tins or bottles containing a quantity of uniform weight.
When mint is grown commercially on a large scale, it has been estimated to yield from 4 to 5 tons per acre, from which 15 to 20 cwt. of dry should be obtained. Average yields per acre are, however, taken when crops are at maturity, and an estimate of the first cutting crop is hard to form, and is likely to be less profitable than succeeding years, on account of initial expenses.
If Spearmint is being grown as a medicinal herb, for the sake of the volatile oil to be extracted from it, the shoots should be gathered in August, when just coming into flower, and taken to the distillery as soon as possible after picking, the British Pharmacopoeia directing that oil of Spearmint be distilled from the fresh, flowering plant. It is estimated that 350 lb. of Spearmint yield 1 lb. of oil. If the distillery is not on the ground or only a short distance away, and the crop has to be dispatched by train, the cutting should take place late in the afternoon on a fine day, before the dew falls, so as to be sent off by a night train to arrive at their destination next morning, having travelled in the cool, otherwise the leaves are apt to heat and ferment, losing colour.
The chief constituent of Spearmint oil is Carvone. There are also present Phellandrene, Limonene and dihydrocarveol acetate. Esters of acetic, butyric and caproic or caprylic acids are also present. (An Ester is a combination of an alcohol with an acid, the combination being associated with the elimination of water. The esters are highly important and in many cases dominant constituents of numerous essential oils, which owe their perfume largely, or in some cases entirely, to the esters contained. Many of the esters are used as flavouring or perfumery agents, and many are among the most important constituents of volatile salts.)
There are several different essential oils known under the name of Spearmint oil, the botanical origin of the plant used for distillation differing with the country in which the plant is grown. In the United States and in this country several varieties of M. viridis are distilled. In Russia the plant distilled is M. verticellata, and in Germany either M. longifolia, or more generally M. aquatica var. crispa - a plant cultivated in Northern Germany, the oil (called there Krausemünzöl) being imported into this country as German Spearmint oil. It appears to be identical with that from M. viridis. Oil of Spearmint is little distilled in England, either German oil or American oil distilled from M. viridis being imported.
Medicinal Action and Uses---Spearmint is chiefly used for culinary purposes. The properties of Spearmint oil resemble those of Peppermint, being stimulant, carminative and antispasmodic, but its effects are less powerful, and it is less used than Peppermint, though it is better adapted for children's maladies. From 2 to 5 drops may be given on sugar, or from 1/2 to 1 teaspoonful of spirit of Spearmint, with 2 tablespoonful of water. Spearmint oil is added to many compounds on account of its carminative properties, and because its taste is pleasanter and less strong than Peppermint. A distilled water of Spearmint will relieve hiccough and flatulence as well as the giddiness of indigestion. For infantile trouble generally, the sweetened infusion is an excellent remedy, and is also a pleasant beverage in fevers, inflammatory diseases, etc. Make the infusion by pouring a pint of boiling water on an ounce of the dried herb; the strained-off liquid is taken in doses of a wine glass full or less. It is considered a specific in allaying nausea and vomiting and will relieve the pain of colic. A homoeopathic tincture prepared from the fresh plant in flower has been found serviceable in strangury, gravel, and as a local application in painful haemorrhoids. Its principal employment is for its febrifuge and diuretic virtues.
Preparations and Dosages---Fluid extract, 1/4 to 1 drachm. Water, B.P. and U.S.P., 4 drachms. Spirit, U.S.P., 30 drops.
When eaten with lamb, very finely chopped in sweetened vinegar, in the form of mint sauce, mint greatly aids the digestion, as it makes the crude, albuminous fibres of the immature meat more digestible. The volatile oil stimulates the digestive system and prevents septic changes within the intestines.
The fresh sprigs of mint are used to flavour green peas and also new potatoes, being boiled with them, and the powdered, dried leaves are used with pea soup and also in seasonings. On the Continent, especially in Germany, the powdered, dried mint is often used at table for dusting upon pea and bean purées, as well as on gravies.
A grating of mint is introduced sometimes into a potato salad, or into a fowl stuffing, and in Wales it is not unusual to boil mint with cabbage.
Mint Jelly can be used instead of mint sauce, in the same manner as red currant jelly. It may be made by steeping mint leaves in apple jelly, or in one of the various kinds of commercial gelatine. The jelly should be a delicate shade of green. A handful of leaves should colour and flavour about half a pint of jelly. Strain the liquid through a jelly bag to remove all particles of mint before allowing to set.
Mint Vinegar is made as follows: Fill a jar or bottle with young mint leaves picked from the stalks. Cover with cold vinegar and cork or cover the bottle. Infuse for 14 days, then strain off the vinegar.
This vinegar is sometimes employed in making Mint Jelly, as follows:
Take 1 pint of water, 1 1/4 OZ. gelatine, the white and shell of an egg, 1/2 gill of Mint Vinegar, 1 dessertspoonful of Tarragon Vinegar, a bunch of herbs, 1 onion, 1 carrot, a stick of celery, 10 peppercorns, salt, 1 lemon. Peel the lemon very thinly, slightly whip the white of egg, wash and crush the shell. Put all the ingredients into a pan, strain in the juice of the lemon and whisk over the fire until just on boiling point. Boil up, then draw the pan to the side of the fire and simmer very gently for 20 minutes. Strain through a jelly bag until clear. Put into a mould to set. If liked, finely chopped mint may be added to the jelly after straining it, or more mint can be used and no Tarragon Vinegar.
To make Mint Punch: Pick a quart of fresh mint leaves, then wash and dry them by shaking them in a clean kitchen towel. Put them into a large jug and mash them with a wooden spoon till soft, when cover with freshly boiled water and infuse for ten minutes. Strain, cool, then set on ice till required. Add two cups of chilled grape juice and strained lemon juice to taste. Sweeten with castor sugar, stir till sugar is dissolved and then add a quart of ginger ale. Fill each tumbler to one-third with cracked ice and fill up with the punch.
The Garden Mint is also the basis of Mint Julep and Mint-water, the cordial distilled from the plant.

The Symptoms of Kali-yuga
This chapter relates that, when the bad qualities of the Age of Kali will increase to an intolerable level, the Supreme Personality of Godhead will descend as Kalki to destroy those who are fixed in irreligion. After that, a new Satya-yuga will begin.
As the Age of Kali progresses, all good qualities of men diminish and all impure qualities increase. Atheistic systems of so-called religion become predominant, replacing the codes of Vedic law. The kings become just like highway bandits, the people in general become dedicated to low occupations, and all the social classes become just like śūdras. All cows become like goats, all spiritual hermitages become like materialistic homes, and family ties extend no further than the immediate relationship of marriage.
When the Age of Kali has almost ended, the Supreme Personality of Godhead will incarnate. He will appear in the village Śambhala, in the home of the exalted brāhmaṇa Viṣṇuyaśā, and will take the name Kalki. He will mount His horse Devadatta and, taking His sword in hand, will roam about the earth killing millions of bandits in the guise of kings. Then the signs of the next Satya-yuga will begin to appear. When the moon, sun and the planet Bṛhaspati enter simultaneously into one constellation and conjoin in the lunar mansion Puṣyā, Satya-yuga will begin. In the order of Satya, Tretā, Dvāpara and Kali, the cycle of four ages rotates in the society of living entities in this universe.
The chapter ends with a brief description of the future dynasties of the sun and moon coming from Vaivasvata Manu in the next Satya-yuga. Even now two saintly kṣatriyas are living who at the end of this Kali-yuga will reinitiate the pious dynasties of the sun-god, Vivasvān, and the moon-god, Candra. One of these kings is Devāpi, a brother of Mahārāja Śantanu, and the other is Maru, a descendant of Ikṣvāku. They are biding their time incognito in a village named Kalāpa.
SB 12.2.1 — Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Then, O King, religion, truthfulness, cleanliness, tolerance, mercy, duration of life, physical strength and memory will all diminish day by day because of the powerful influence of the Age of Kali.
SB 12.2.2 — In Kali-yuga, wealth alone will be considered the sign of a man’s good birth, proper behavior and fine qualities. And law and justice will be applied only on the basis of one’s power.
SB 12.2.3 — Men and women will live together merely because of superficial attraction, and success in business will depend on deceit. Womanliness and manliness will be judged according to one’s expertise in sex, and a man will be known as a brāhmaṇa just by his wearing a thread.
SB 12.2.4 — A person’s spiritual position will be ascertained merely according to external symbols, and on that same basis people will change from one spiritual order to the next. A person’s propriety will be seriously questioned if he does not earn a good living. And one who is very clever at juggling words will be considered a learned scholar.
SB 12.2.5 — A person will be judged unholy if he does not have money, and hypocrisy will be accepted as virtue. Marriage will be arranged simply by verbal agreement, and a person will think he is fit to appear in public if he has merely taken a bath.
SB 12.2.6 — A sacred place will be taken to consist of no more than a reservoir of water located at a distance, and beauty will be thought to depend on one’s hairstyle. Filling the belly will become the goal of life, and one who is audacious will be accepted as truthful. He who can maintain a family will be regarded as an expert man, and the principles of religion will be observed only for the sake of reputation.
SB 12.2.7 — As the earth thus becomes crowded with a corrupt population, whoever among any of the social classes shows himself to be the strongest will gain political power.
SB 12.2.8 — Losing their wives and properties to such avaricious and merciless rulers, who will behave no better than ordinary thieves, the citizens will flee to the mountains and forests.
SB 12.2.9 — Harassed by famine and excessive taxes, people will resort to eating leaves, roots, flesh, wild honey, fruits, flowers and seeds. Struck by drought, they will become completely ruined.
SB 12.2.10 — The citizens will suffer greatly from cold, wind, heat, rain and snow. They will be further tormented by quarrels, hunger, thirst, disease and severe anxiety.
SB 12.2.11 — The maximum duration of life for human beings in Kali-yuga will become fifty years.
SB 12.2.12-16 — By the time the Age of Kali ends, the bodies of all creatures will be greatly reduced in size, and the religious principles of followers of varṇāśrama will be ruined. The path of the Vedas will be completely forgotten in human society, and so-called religion will be mostly atheistic. The kings will mostly be thieves, the occupations of men will be stealing, lying and needless violence, and all the social classes will be reduced to the lowest level of śūdras. Cows will be like goats, spiritual hermitages will be no different from mundane houses, and family ties will extend no further than the immediate bonds of marriage. Most plants and herbs will be tiny, and all trees will appear like dwarf śamī trees. Clouds will be full of lightning, homes will be devoid of piety, and all human beings will have become like asses. At that time, the Supreme Personality of Godhead will appear on the earth. Acting with the power of pure spiritual goodness, He will rescue eternal religion.
SB 12.2.17 — Lord Viṣṇu — the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the spiritual master of all moving and nonmoving living beings, and the Supreme Soul of all — takes birth to protect the principles of religion and to relieve His saintly devotees from the reactions of material work.
SB 12.2.18 — Lord Kalki will appear in the home of the most eminent brāhmaṇa of Śambhala village, the great soul Viṣṇuyaśā.
SB 12.2.19-20 — Lord Kalki, the Lord of the universe, will mount His swift horse Devadatta and, sword in hand, travel over the earth exhibiting His eight mystic opulences and eight special qualities of Godhead. Displaying His unequaled effulgence and riding with great speed, He will kill by the millions those thieves who have dared dress as kings.
SB 12.2.21 — After all the impostor kings have been killed, the residents of the cities and towns will feel the breezes carrying the most sacred fragrance of the sandalwood paste and other decorations of Lord Vāsudeva, and their minds will thereby become transcendentally pure.
SB 12.2.22 — When Lord Vāsudeva, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, appears in their hearts in His transcendental form of goodness, the remaining citizens will abundantly repopulate the earth.
SB 12.2.23 — When the Supreme Lord has appeared on earth as Kalki, the maintainer of religion, Satya-yuga will begin, and human society will bring forth progeny in the mode of goodness.
SB 12.2.24 — When the moon, the sun and Bṛhaspatī are together in the constellation Karkaṭa, and all three enter simultaneously into the lunar mansion Puṣyā — at that exact moment the age of Satya, or Kṛta, will begin.
SB 12.2.25 — Thus I have described all the kings — past, present and future — who belong to the dynasties of the sun and the moon.
SB 12.2.26 — From your birth up to the coronation of King Nanda, 1,150 years will pass.
SB 12.2.27-28 — Of the seven stars forming the constellation of the seven sages, Pulaha and Kratu are the first to rise in the night sky. If a line running north and south were drawn through their midpoint, whichever of the lunar mansions this line passes through is said to be the ruling asterism of the constellation for that time. The Seven Sages will remain connected with that particular lunar mansion for one hundred human years. Currently, during your lifetime, they are situated in the nakṣatra called Maghā.
SB 12.2.29 — The Supreme Lord, Viṣṇu, is brilliant like the sun and is known as Kṛṣṇa. When He returned to the spiritual sky, Kali entered this world, and people then began to take pleasure in sinful activities.
SB 12.2.30 — As long as Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the husband of the goddess of fortune, touched the earth with His lotus feet, Kali was powerless to subdue this planet.
SB 12.2.31 — When the constellation of the seven sages is passing through the lunar mansion Maghā, the Age of Kali begins. It comprises twelve hundred years of the demigods.
SB 12.2.32 — When the great sages of the Saptarṣi constellation pass from Maghā to Pūrvāsāḍhā, Kali will have his full strength, beginning from King Nanda and his dynasty.
SB 12.2.33 — Those who scientifically understand the past declare that on the very day that Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa departed for the spiritual world, the influence of the Age of Kali began.

The Symptoms of Kali-yuga
This chapter relates that, when the bad qualities of the Age of Kali will increase to an intolerable level, the Supreme Personality of Godhead will descend as Kalki to destroy those who are fixed in irreligion. After that, a new Satya-yuga will begin.
As the Age of Kali progresses, all good qualities of men diminish and all impure qualities increase. Atheistic systems of so-called religion become predominant, replacing the codes of Vedic law. When the Age of Kali has almost ended, the Supreme Personality of Godhead will incarnate. He will appear in the village Śambhala, in the home of the exalted brāhmaṇa Viṣṇuyaśā, and will take the name Kalki. He will mount His horse Devadatta and, taking His sword in hand, will roam about the earth killing millions of bandits in the guise of kings. Then the signs of the next Satya-yuga will begin to appear. When the moon, sun and the planet Bṛhaspati enter simultaneously into one constellation and conjoin in the lunar mansion Puṣyā, Satya-yuga will begin. In the order of Satya, Tretā, Dvāpara and Kali, the cycle of four ages rotates in the society of living entities in this universe.

SB 12.2.4 — A person’s spiritual position will be ascertained merely according to external symbols, and on that same basis people will change from one spiritual order to the next. A person’s propriety will be seriously questioned if he does not earn a good living. And one who is very clever at juggling words will be considered a learned scholar.
SB 12.2.5 — A person will be judged unholy if he does not have money, and hypocrisy will be accepted as virtue. Marriage will be arranged simply by verbal agreement, and a person will think he is fit to appear in public if he has merely taken a bath.
SB 12.2.6 — A sacred place will be taken to consist of no more than a reservoir of water located at a distance, and beauty will be thought to depend on one’s hairstyle. Filling the belly will become the goal of life, and one who is audacious will be accepted as truthful. He who can maintain a family will be regarded as an expert man, and the principles of religion will be observed only for the sake of reputation.
SB 12.2.7 — As the earth thus becomes crowded with a corrupt population, whoever among any of the social classes shows himself to be the strongest will gain political power.
SB 12.2.8 — Losing their wives and properties to such avaricious and merciless rulers, who will behave no better than ordinary thieves, the citizens will flee to the mountains and forests.
SB 12.2.9 — Harassed by famine and excessive taxes, people will resort to eating leaves, roots, flesh, wild honey, fruits, flowers and seeds. Struck by drought, they will become completely ruined.
SB 12.2.10 — The citizens will suffer greatly from cold, wind, heat, rain and snow. They will be further tormented by quarrels, hunger, thirst, disease and severe anxiety.
SB 12.2.11 — The maximum duration of life for human beings in Kali-yuga will become fifty years.
SB 12.2.12-16 — By the time the Age of Kali ends, the bodies of all creatures will be greatly reduced in size, and the religious principles of followers of varṇāśrama will be ruined. The path of the Vedas will be completely forgotten in human society, and so-called religion will be mostly atheistic. The kings will mostly be thieves, the occupations of men will be stealing, lying and needless violence, and all the social classes will be reduced to the lowest level of śūdras. Cows will be like goats, spiritual hermitages will be no different from mundane houses, and family ties will extend no further than the immediate bonds of marriage. Most plants and herbs will be tiny, and all trees will appear like dwarf śamī trees. Clouds will be full of lightning, homes will be devoid of piety, and all human beings will have become like asses. At that time, the Supreme Personality of Godhead will appear on the earth. Acting with the power of pure spiritual goodness, He will rescue eternal religion.
SB 12.2.17 — Lord Viṣṇu — the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the spiritual master of all moving and nonmoving living beings, and the Supreme Soul of all — takes birth to protect the principles of religion and to relieve His saintly devotees from the reactions of material work.
SB 12.2.18 — Lord Kalki will appear in the home of the most eminent brāhmaṇa of Śambhala village, the great soul Viṣṇuyaśā.
SB 12.2.19-20 — Lord Kalki, the Lord of the universe, will mount His swift horse Devadatta and, sword in hand, travel over the earth exhibiting His eight mystic opulences and eight special qualities of Godhead. Displaying His unequaled effulgence and riding with great speed, He will kill by the millions those thieves who have dared dress as kings.
SB 12.2.21 — After all the impostor kings have been killed, the residents of the cities and towns will feel the breezes carrying the most sacred fragrance of the sandalwood paste and other decorations of Lord Vāsudeva, and their minds will thereby become transcendentally pure.
SB 12.2.22 — When Lord Vāsudeva, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, appears in their hearts in His transcendental form of goodness, the remaining citizens will abundantly repopulate the earth.
SB 12.2.23 — When the Supreme Lord has appeared on earth as Kalki, the maintainer of religion, Satya-yuga will begin, and human society will bring forth progeny in the mode of goodness.
SB 12.2.24 — When the moon, the sun and Bṛhaspatī are together in the constellation Karkaṭa, and all three enter simultaneously into the lunar mansion Puṣyā — at that exact moment the age of Satya, or Kṛta, will begin.
SB 12.2.25 — Thus I have described all the kings — past, present and future — who belong to the dynasties of the sun and the moon.
SB 12.2.26 — From your birth up to the coronation of King Nanda, 1,150 years will pass.
SB 12.2.27-28 — Of the seven stars forming the constellation of the seven sages, Pulaha and Kratu are the first to rise in the night sky. If a line running north and south were drawn through their midpoint, whichever of the lunar mansions this line passes through is said to be the ruling asterism of the constellation for that time. The Seven Sages will remain connected with that particular lunar mansion for one hundred human years. Currently, during your lifetime, they are situated in the nakṣatra called Maghā.

SB 12.2.32 — When the great sages of the Saptarṣi constellation pass from Maghā to Pūrvāsāḍhā, Kali will have his full strength, beginning from King Nanda and his dynasty.
SB 12.2.33 — Those who scientifically understand the past declare that on the very day that Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa departed for the spiritual world, the influence of the Age of Kali began.

Vision problems have always been a symptom that struck me the most. I used to have a blank spot in the upper part of my right eye. I had it for several weeks in different times for too long. The worst part was the doctor saying, "There's nothing wrong with you." I needed help to go to the doctor. I couldn't get there by myself but "there's nothing wrong with me?" SB 12.2.2 — In Kali-yuga, wealth alone will be considered the sign of a man’s good birth, proper behavior and fine qualities. And law and justice will be applied only on the basis of one’s power.
SB 12.2.3 — Men and women will live together merely because of superficial attraction, and success in business will depend on deceit. Womanliness and manliness will be judged according to one’s expertise in sex, and a man will be known as a brāhmaṇa just by his wearing a thread.
SB 12.2.4 — A person’s spiritual position will be ascertained merely according to external symbols, and on that same basis people will change from one spiritual order to the next. A person’s propriety will be seriously questioned if he does not earn a good living. And one who is very clever at juggling words will be considered a learned scholar.
SB 12.2.5 — A person will be judged unholy if he does not have money, and hypocrisy will be accepted as virtue. Marriage will be arranged simply by verbal agreement, and a person will think he is fit to appear in public if he has merely taken a bath.
SB 12.2.6 — A sacred place will be taken to consist of no more than a reservoir of water located at a distance, and beauty will be thought to depend on one’s hairstyle. Filling the belly will become the goal of life, and one who is audacious will be accepted as truthful. He who can maintain a family will be regarded as an expert man, and the principles of religion will be observed only for the sake of reputation.
SB 12.2.7 — As the earth thus becomes crowded with a corrupt population, whoever among any of the social classes shows himself to be the strongest will gain political power.
SB 12.2.8 — Losing their wives and properties to such avaricious and merciless rulers, who will behave no better than ordinary thieves, the citizens will flee to the mountains and forests.
SB 12.2.9 — Harassed by famine and excessive taxes, people will resort to eating leaves, roots, flesh, wild honey, fruits, flowers and seeds. Struck by drought, they will become completely ruined.
SB 12.2.10 — The citizens will suffer greatly from cold, wind, heat, rain and snow. They will be further tormented by quarrels, hunger, thirst, disease and severe anxiety.
SB 12.2.11 — The maximum duration of life for human beings in Kali-yuga will become fifty years.
SB 12.2.12-16 — By the time the Age of Kali ends, the bodies of all creatures will be greatly reduced in size, and the religious principles of followers of varṇāśrama will be ruined. The path of the Vedas will be completely forgotten in human society, and so-called religion will be mostly atheistic. The kings will mostly be thieves, the occupations of men will be stealing, lying and needless violence, and all the social classes will be reduced to the lowest level of śūdras. Cows will be like goats, spiritual hermitages will be no different from mundane houses, and family ties will extend no further than the immediate bonds of marriage. Most plants and herbs will be tiny, and all trees will appear like dwarf śamī trees. Clouds will be full of lightning, homes will be devoid of piety, and all human beings will have become like asses. At that time, the Supreme Personality of Godhead will appear on the earth. Acting with the power of pure spiritual goodness, He will rescue eternal religion.
SB 12.2.17 — Lord Viṣṇu — the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the spiritual master of all moving and nonmoving living beings, and the Supreme Soul of all — takes birth to protect the principles of religion and to relieve His saintly devotees from the reactions of material work.
SB 12.2.18 — Lord Kalki will appear in the home of the most eminent brāhmaṇa of Śambhala village, the great soul Viṣṇuyaśā.
SB 12.2.19-20 — Lord Kalki, the Lord of the universe, will mount His swift horse Devadatta and, sword in hand, travel over the earth exhibiting His eight mystic opulences and eight special qualities of Godhead. Displaying His unequaled effulgence and riding with great speed, He will kill by the millions those thieves who have dared dress as kings.
SB 12.2.21 — After all the impostor kings have been killed, the residents of the cities and towns will feel the breezes carrying the most sacred fragrance of the sandalwood paste and other decorations of Lord Vāsudeva, and their minds will thereby become transcendentally pure.
SB 12.2.22 — When Lord Vāsudeva, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, appears in their hearts in His transcendental form of goodness, the remaining citizens will abundantly repopulate the earth.
SB 12.2.23 — When the Supreme Lord has appeared on earth as Kalki, the maintainer of religion, Satya-yuga will begin, and human society will bring forth progeny in the mode of goodness.
SB 12.2.24 — When the moon, the sun and Bṛhaspatī are together in the constellation Karkaṭa, and all three enter simultaneously into the lunar mansion Puṣyā — at that exact moment the age of Satya, or Kṛta, will begin.
SB 12.2.25 — Thus I have described all the kings — past, present and future — who belong to the dynasties of the sun and the moon.
SB 12.2.26 — From your birth up to the coronation of King Nanda, 1,150 years will pass.
SB 12.2.27-28 — Of the seven stars forming the constellation of the seven sages, Pulaha and Kratu are the first to rise in the night sky. If a line running north and south were drawn through their midpoint, whichever of the lunar mansions this line passes through is said to be the ruling asterism of the constellation for that time. The Seven Sages will remain connected with that particular lunar mansion for one hundred human years. Currently, during your lifetime, they are situated in the nakṣatra called Maghā.
SB 12.2.29 — The Supreme Lord, Viṣṇu, is brilliant like the sun and is known as Kṛṣṇa. When He returned to the spiritual sky, Kali entered this world, and people then began to take pleasure in sinful activities.
SB 12.2.30 — As long as Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the husband of the goddess of fortune, touched the earth with His lotus feet, Kali was powerless to subdue this planet.
SB 12.2.31 — When the constellation of the seven sages is passing through the lunar mansion Maghā, the Age of Kali begins. It comprises twelve hundred years of the demigods.
SB 12.2.32 — When the great sages of the Saptarṣi constellation pass from Maghā to Pūrvāsāḍhā, Kali will have his full strength, beginning from King Nanda and his dynasty.
SB 12.2.33 — Those who scientifically understand the past declare that on the very day that Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa departed for the spiritual world, the influence of the Age of Kali began.
SB 12.2.34 — After the one thousand celestial years of Kali-yuga, the Satya-yuga will manifest again. At that time the minds of all men will become self-effulgent.
SB 12.2.35 — Thus I have described the royal dynasty of Manu, as it is known on this earth. One can similarly study the history of the vaiśyas, śūdras and brāhmaṇas living in the various ages.
SB 12.2.36 — These personalities, who were great souls, are now known only by their names. They exist only in accounts from the past, and only their fame remains on the earth.
SB 12.2.37 — Devāpi, the brother of Mahārāja Śāntanu, and Maru, the descendant of Ikṣvāku, both possess great mystic strength and are living even now in the village of Kalāpa.
SB 12.2.38 — At the end of the Age of Kali, these two kings, having received instruction directly from the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Vāsudeva, will return to human society and reestablish the eternal religion of man, characterized by the divisions of varṇa and āśrama, just as it was before.
SB 12.2.39 — The cycle of four ages — Satya, Tretā, Dvāpara and Kali — continues perpetually among living beings on this earth, repeating the same general sequence of events.
SB 12.2.40 — My dear King Parīkṣit, all these kings I have described, as well as all other human beings, come to this earth and stake their claims, but ultimately they all must give up this world and meet their destruction.
SB 12.2.41 — Even though a person’s body may now have the designation “king,” in the end its name will be “worms,” “stool” or “ashes.” What can a person who injures other living beings for the sake of his body know about his own self-interest, since his activities are simply leading him to hell?
SB 12.2.42 — [The materialistic king thinks:] “This unbounded earth was held by my predecessors and is now under my sovereignty. How can I arrange for it to remain in the hands of my sons, grandsons and other descendants?”
SB 12.2.43 — Although the foolish accept the body made of earth, water and fire as “me” and this earth as “mine,” in every case they have ultimately abandoned both their body and the earth and passed away into oblivion.
SB 12.2.44 — My dear King Parīkṣit, all these kings who tried to enjoy the earth by their strength were reduced by the force of time to nothing more than historical accounts.

The Symptoms of Kali-yuga
This chapter relates that, when the bad qualities of the Age of Kali will increase to an intolerable level, the Supreme Personality of Godhead will descend as Kalki to destroy those who are fixed in irreligion. After that, a new Satya-yuga will begin.
As the Age of Kali progresses, all good qualities of men diminish and all impure qualities increase. Atheistic systems of so-called religion become predominant, replacing the codes of Vedic law. The kings become just like highway bandits, the people in general become dedicated to low occupations, and all the social classes become just like śūdras. All cows become like goats, all spiritual hermitages become like materialistic homes, and family ties extend no further than the immediate relationship of marriage.
When the Age of Kali has almost ended, the Supreme Personality of Godhead will incarnate. He will appear in the village Śambhala, in the home of the exalted brāhmaṇa Viṣṇuyaśā, and will take the name Kalki. He will mount His horse Devadatta and, taking His sword in hand, will roam about the earth killing millions of bandits in the guise of kings. Then the signs of the next Satya-yuga will begin to appear. When the moon, sun and the planet Bṛhaspati enter simultaneously into one constellation and conjoin in the lunar mansion Puṣyā, Satya-yuga will begin. In the order of Satya, Tretā, Dvāpara and Kali, the cycle of four ages rotates in the society of living entities in this universe.
The chapter ends with a brief description of the future dynasties of the sun and moon coming from Vaivasvata Manu in the next Satya-yuga. Even now two saintly kṣatriyas are living who at the end of this Kali-yuga will reinitiate the pious dynasties of the sun-god, Vivasvān, and the moon-god, Candra. One of these kings is Devāpi, a brother of Mahārāja Śantanu, and the other is Maru, a descendant of Ikṣvāku. They are biding their time incognito in a village named Kalāpa.

One symptom of my illness was self-harm. Cutting is often a methodical, ritualised act and is a way of keeping control of emotions or situations, or to create pain where numbness only seems to exist. It reminds cutters that we can still feel.

Welcome aboard The Multidimensional Ship! Its observation deck is your entire perceptual reality. And it is now in motion. YOU are now in motion. If you only realized how fast you were going, you would probably feel a bit ill. In truth, many of you are currently experiencing signs and symptoms of what we call Global Acceleration Syndrome. We provide this title to honor your medical paradigm, even though it is not any kind of official medical diagnosis. Muscle aches and pains, lethargy, fatigue, spacey-ness, panic attacks, depression, insomnia, memory-loss, confusion---these are just a few of the uncomfortable side-effects produced by the incredible velocity at which you are traveling.
Your world appears to continue as it always has because YOUR MIND requires this in order to keep from flying apart. Your anxiety and hesitancies are the same feelings shared by those who sailed with Columbus. Bound for a new world, they trembled as they sailed, believing their world to be flat. Even so....... many of you also tremble---certain that you may "go over the edge" at any moment!
If you can receive assistance by a health care professional, and your inner guidance affirms this course of action, we encourage you to do so. However, if everything you try seems empty and useless......be strong! Be patient. Deliverance is soon at hand. The journey has begun, and there are wonders ahead, and beauty beyond imagining. The travails of childbirth are many, but the prize that follows far outweighs the pain. Believe this, receive it, and your anxious heart will slowly learn to find rest.
INSIDE THE SHIP
Spaceship Earth is a Holographic Being. Structurally, it is like a gift box that some imaginative person sends you for Christmas. When you remove the lid, you find a slightly smaller box, fully wrapped---just like the first one, containing another (even smaller) box, which contains yet another, and another, and another.........all the way down to your one-celled creatures. Each "level" of your Ship contains all of the basic elements of every other "level." Some of the features are minimized, in certain aspects, so that others can be maximized and focused upon. But it's all there! And it's all synchronized, like moving parts in a pocket watch. It all blends together beautifully.
You have been packing for this journey for quite sometime now. Around the planet there has formed a band of energy---several concentric bands, in fact. The one of which we speak is electromagnetic in nature. It contains diagrams, spreadsheets, poetry, tables of elements, fragments of speech, music, data, archives of human history, bits of TV shows, radio broadcasts, faxes, motion pictures, cell-phone conversations, digital art, and much more besides. When you prepared for this particular journey, you knew you had to pack LIGHT.......because you knew that was the only thing that could go! We are speaking here of your Earth Essence Timeless Capsule.
This "Level" of the Planetary Ship is connected to and modulated by sacred powerspots all over the planet. It is, literally, an ARC of Energy..........not unlike that other Ark which was built by Noah, so long ago. Within it, you have placed the best of you---your creations, your memories, your very lives! However, be advised. Entry onto The Arc is not made two-by-two. This "level" of the Oneself is leaving duality behind. Each individual must pass through what is called the "Eye of the Needle," as a Unified Oneself, in order to come aboard.
Meanwhile, back on the "hard deck," a good portion of humanity is determined to stay the course, fully in denial---apparently choosing to "play it cool" all the way through the Fourth Dimensional Corridor. Now *that* should make quite a picture, indeed.
But you, Dear Ones....... you need not suffer any longer with this illusion. Everything you have felt within---the many surges and flashes of energy up and down your spine---are quite real. They are transmutative jump-starts for new and important programs that have been installed in your consciousness. Soon, all your new perceptual software will come completely online. And then, the fun begins! A very wise man once said: "Don't compare your insides with other people's outsides." We underscore this message whole-heartedly. You are not crazy, and you are not falling apart. It just occasionally feels that way. In fact, you are really falling together! So let it be.
MORE ABOUT THE PORTALS
There is no one present upon Planet Earth at this time who is not regularly traversing Energy Gates and Portals. Some are very aware of it, and even relish the idea. Others are quite disturbed, because the experiences are not exactly what they had planned, or seem beyond their immediate understanding and control. Still others have found effective ways to insulate themselves almost entirely from this knowledge---which serves a purpose, albeit a temporary one. Soon all humanity will be speaking fluently about Trans-Portals, though they may be called by many names. Indeed, these Energy Gates will soon form a good deal of the conceptual framework for your upcoming human journey.
We are The Reconnections. We are all those parts of your Expanded Self which you had to forget about when you came into physical form. We've never been very far from you, just far enough. If there is something that you currently believe about yourself, we make up *everything else* that you could also believe. If there is something that you deny about yourself, we form a repository for that energy until you feel ready to take it up again. Endless variety, endless ability.........all neatly catalogued for your use at any time or place. If something is not present *within* you, then it is being stored here, *within* us. This is because, in Oneness, there really is no such thing as "out." All doorways are marked "enter," and all pathways lead directly home.
MEETING YOUR OPPOSITION
Before a person can successfully fight a battle, he must define who the enemy is. Though we have frequently reminded you that everything is a reflection of self, you must realize that there are aspects of that "self" that have been created to oppose you, as grounding elements, or for educational purposes. As you will see later in this transmission, identifying and meeting your opposition is crucial to your next levels of unfoldment.
Every birthing process involves both expansion and contraction. One part of the body pushes forward, while other parts resist. This is your dance of positive and negative energy. It is rapidly becoming impossible for a person to achieve enduring success without making contact with the "rest" of who he is. We are speaking now of the Multidimensional Self. There is much more to any situation than meets your physical eye. In truth, the puppets that currently dance in the theater of the physical are manipulated by strings being held by unseen hands. Every dance, every drama that is being enacted here, is designed to teach you more and more about those unseen forces.
Relationship conflicts, financial difficulties, and political upheavals are perfect venues for a reconnecting soul to learn how to identify with *all sides* of any question. It is only when you are able to lift yourself out of a polarized state, into The Oneself, that you become able to access the necessary elements which will turn the tide for whatever physical challenge that is before you.
Many people today are desperately looking for peace and safety. If something seems to be thwarting their goals, or irritating their status quo, they want to deal with it, so they can bring about a rapid resolution. They will choose to fight, or to negotiate---whichever seems most effective in the moment---and then they want to be able to return to "business as usual." But Friends, business can never be "usual" again. And any attempt on your parts to make it so will simply result in deeper and more complicated upheavals. The "box" in which you have all been living is being heated up from the outside. Aspects of your Expanded Self are stirring things up energetically so that you will be forced to look *outside of the physical world* in order to understand what has been creating your reality all along.
THE ASTRAL PLANE
Beyond the borders of your physical world, there are levels of consciousness that vibrate so rapidly that their purpose and presence often escapes the notice of those who are living and functioning in 3D. The Astral Plane contains beings that are either moving toward or away from physical density, yet which often have considerable influence over what is explored there at any given time.
If you were to equate levels of human consciousness to keys on a piano, you would find that each "note" or tone represents one of the energy centers (chakras) functioning within, for example, your human body. You begin your tonal scale with "do," which is the first (root) chakra of that body, and you move up.......through "re" (the second chakra), mi (the third chakra), and so on..........all the way up to "ti," (the crown chakra) where you find yourself ready to begin playing again at a new octave. The Astral Plane begins the gateway into the next octaves of your conscious experience.
Those who have made serious studies into ethereal reality tend to be somewhat negative in their attitude towards the Astral Plane. Many think of it as an etheric "junk yard," wherein divergent and confused energies wander aimlessly, trying to make sense of where they are, and how they came to be there. But these judgments are usually drawn by those who have already committed themselves to something. They forget how blissful it can be to simply window shop, to consider, and to resonate with several potential realities at once.
Beyond the Astral Plane exists the Reconnected Oneself. Whereas the Astral is made up of consciousness that thinks or believes it knows things..........the Unified Oneself is the part of you which absolutely knows. It KNOWS because it contains all possible levels of every possible situation or interaction.
When a person is finished with window shopping---having sufficiently explored all the possibilities---he or she will begin Reconnecting to Oneness. This is a process that can only be accomplished while that person is still present in physical form. In order to do it, he must be willing to forego all his mental ponderings, judgments, and emotional reactivity that makes up most of the drama in your everyday life. He must find a way to go above it, or perhaps to tunnel under it, connecting directly to the Universal Touchstone of Oneness with everything and everyone. When contact with that level of being is reached, all of his attachments and bondage to earthly outcome are erased. At that point, anything becomes possible.
THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW
Consider for a moment the image of a strong man, standing on a mountain peak, high above the Earth. Through the mist that surrounds his mountain, the man sees a second peak, directly across the valley. The thought enters his mind that he would like to experience that other peak, but there is way too much valley between the two. If he chose, the man could climb down from his mountain, travel through the valley, which seems rather dark and forboding, and climb up the mountain on the other side. The mere thought of moving through that shadowy void, however, makes the whole prospect seem fearsome and impossible.
The primary obstacle which blocks the attainment of this man's desire is the separation which he perceives between the two mountains. There seems to be just too big a gap for him to leap across. In many ways, this "gap" is at the root of nearly all problems which arise today in 3D reality.
Change the scene. Two men meet together in a public park. One of them says or does something which deeply offends the other, and a shouting match occurs. The topic could be politics, religion, finances, or romance. It usually does not matter. This encounter is a programmed response, anyway. As each continues to speak his mind, the "gap" between them grows deeper and wider. Resentment, hatred, and disdain now exist where once there could have been trust and goodwill.
Both of these men are Multidimensional. They are jewels with many facets. Each of them have selves that live high, on the mountain top, and each of them has variations of selves that live deep down in the Valley as well. In the Valley there are horrors galore---guilt, shame, and anger that never seems to be satisfied. What creates a shadow is some object or person that stands between a reflecting surface and the light. In the language of metaphor, your shadow is the part of your own self that is hidden from you because you are standing in your own way.
What each man in the above story is reacting to is his own Shadow Reflection, seen in the face of the other. We have spoken about this principle at length in our transmission entitled "Relationships: A Time for Healing." For many years, this process of Creative Shadow Work has provided your planet with tools to complete certain alchemical changes that are required for the Reconnection of your Mental Body. Now it is time for you to begin penetration into your Emotional Body. It is time for you to leave the Valley of the Shadow and to learn the art of building Astral Bridges.
WHAT IS AN ASTRAL BRIDGE?
In the above story of the two mountains, our wishful climber could surely benefit from some form of Connection, spanning peak to peak, which would allow him to avoid having to go down his mountain and through the Valley to get to the other side. If he knew about his Divine Multidimensional Nature, and had knowledge of how to build an Astral Bridge, his problems would be solved.
"Many of you may remember a film that was released a few years back called "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." This film includes a particularly inspiring scene, in which the hero finds himself needing to cross from one high place to another (very much like in our story above). In a required act of faith, appropriate to the plot, he places his foot upon what *appears to be* empty air, and a bridge instantly appears beneath his feet, allowing him to cross safely to the other side."
In another famous film, "The Matrix," released only a couple of years ago, one of the heros demonstrated a mastery of physical force, using what was called a "Jump Program," which enabled him to leap across a huge expanse of physical space, moving freely from one high building to another. Even characters in the film exclaimed "Whoa! That's impossible."
An Astral Bridge begins as an Etheric Connector which brings together two points in physical space which appear to be separated by a gap. The Bridge itself originates somewhere else in the Multiverse---performing a clear purpose within an alternative level of here and now. Through a process we shall explain shortly, a perceptual cursor is passed over the image, and it is highlighted and copied (to use familiar computer terms) to a place where it is desperately needed.
At the moment of its transposition, an Astral Bridge is constructed almost entirely of faith. It has been written that "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." People don't believe in things because they appear. Things appear in physical space because people believe in them. So it is with an Astral Bridge. At the moment it is required, the Bridge gets pasted directly into your NOW.........in a process that only could be described as miraculous........even though it often appears to be a natural part of your flow.
HOW MANIFESTATION OCCURS
As we mentioned in Trans-Portals 1 and 2, the key to travel within the Multiverse is found in a person's ability to detach himself from his current surroundings, by finding a state of neutrality, so that he can journey anywhere else he wishes to go. What keeps you all trapped in your current 3D context is your continuous *clinging* to outcomes (cause and effect relationships) that you imagine are in operation there. My Dear Friends, this is ILLUSION.
When something manifests in your 3D world, it arrives because you *called for it* with your mind and heart. It makes little difference whether your call was a conscious one, or whether it was something that was issued from beneath your Veil of Forgetfulness. It came from you, and you need to own that before you can break free from its influence. Those who have trouble with this concept may need to circle back and do some Creative Shadow Work, as we mentioned a bit earlier in this transmission.
Basically..... a successful "call" for reality manifestation involves (at least) two elements:
1. A clear statement of belief or intent, spoken or held in a positive way........followed immediately by........
2. A complete release of the outcome into the hands of the Expanded Self.
A person doesn't manifest his or her world out of nothing. Rather, each of you forms your personal reality from the *everything,* which exists all around you. In order to make something physical, you simply focus upon it.....(which slows down the vibration sufficiently for it to solidify), and then you install Perceptual Veils around it, to block out the awareness of everything else that is there. This is your own perceptual equivalent of putting blinders on a horse.
As you begin your process of focusing, you must clearly realize how the creative element of your mind works. The explanation we are going to make for you now is a linear one, because you are currently operating within a linear reality base. Please realize that you have the power to change the order or the rules of this process at any time.
Like the printer on a computer, which faithfully stacks and programs its activity based upon keys hit by the operator, your very own Creative Manifesting Mind begins printing out reality based upon statements which you, yourself, hold to be true. Even though your statement is uttered only within your own mind, and is held for just one second, it has absolute power to form your world. And it frequently does!
Your affirmative statements, especially when accompanied by true desire and passion, are like Genies from a bottle, granting you everything you could ever wish for. As one Dear Entity once phrased it: "The universe rearranges itself according to your beliefs about what is real." It does this through your own declarations of *what is,* not through declarations of *what is not.*
The programming software in your Creative, Manifesting Mind *does not* recognize or respond to words like "no," "not," "don't," or "can't." It automatically eliminates them from your command line. Therefore, whenever a person declares, within himself: "I don't want to smoke" or "I am not going to be angry today," the Creative Manifesting Mind hears (and responds to) an affirmative version of those statements. What it hears is: "I do want to smoke," and "I am going to be angry today."
You must realize that physical reality is created from FOCUS. If you are constantly focusing upon what you *don't want," rather than on what you *do want,* your manifestation power will tend follow that focus. The locus of power in a Call to Manifest is located between the subject and the desired (or declared) action or outcome. The commands are stacked and prioritized in your printer, according to the following factors:
1. The "Level" of Self that is making the command (The more Expanded Aspects of you get the most clout when it comes to ordering up your manifestations)
2. The Desire, Intensity, and Clarity behind the declaration.
3. The Order of Command Presentation to the Creative Mechanism.
If the desire and intensity of command lines are equal, and they all come from the same level of Self, the manifestations will print out according to the order in which the commands were made. Indeed, this is a very 3D explanation, and we realize that. However, it absolutely works, as long as you are still operating within a 3D format. If a command line comes in from "outside the box" (from your Expanded Self), it will automatically hold precedence over commands that are presented from the Ego Aspect. In other words, it gets to crowd ahead of you in the cafeteria line. But the Ego still has creative power, as all aspects of you have divinity.
Statements of similar velocity, which are contradictory, tend to cancel each other out. Their expression is like a husband and wife who go together to vote in a public election. He votes republican and she votes democratic. In truth, the 3D effect produced is no different than if they would have stayed home (except for the satisfaction they receive from exercising their options). In the same way, your inner consciousness frequently entertains divergent points of view. At times, many aspects of you can be barking contradictory commands with virtually the same intensity. If this occurs, your printer gets jammed, and you may end up having to reboot!
LETTING IT HAPPEN
When using Trans-Portals, either for personal travel or to take delivery on key aspects of your current reality, it is crucial that you learn to *let go of the process* after you have clearly issued the command line. In essence, the Trans-Portal System in the Multiverse functions very similar to the digestive tract in the human body. After materials and energy are introduced into the system, you need to relax and allow the mechanism to do its job. You must let go of your focus *entirely,* and go busy yourself with something else.
Clearly making a statement of desire and intent leaves an etheric impression in the "reality bubble" of a person's existence. It registers, whether he is aware of it or not. An order gets introduced. As long as a "cancel order" is not sent in after it, the Creative Mechanism (the internal search engine) will begin collating results and alternatives to meet the command.
Following a command statement with an attitude of *complete release and confidence* (in other words......with faith)...... pulls the Ego of the operator away from the keyboard, for reassignment elsewhere. Energetically, this produces a backdraft of energy (a vacuum) which accelerates the "digestion" process and speeds up delivery. In essence, your attitude of trust actually *sucks* your order through the pipeline more quickly, drawing to you whatever it is that you desire.
To place an order, and then to stew over it, creates an attitude of doubt in your creative ability. It's like sitting down to eat with 20 people watching your every bite. After awhile, you begin to get a lump in your stomach. The digestive juices become inhibited, and the whole system slows down. It is no different with Trans-Portals. Your desires and commands are transmitted organically, and your physical body (especially your nervous system) is very much involved in the process.
BUILDING ASTRAL BRIDGES
Now that we have briefly explained the process of everyday manifestation, we will teach you how this applies to Astral Bridges. As we have said, the need for a Bridge involves the presence of a GAP that exists between two or more objects (or individuals) in physical space. This can either be a physical distance, or it can be a relationship impasse that has formed, keeping folks from understanding and integrating with each other.
The need to get from "here to there" in 3D arises from a belief in and support of a paradigm of Separation. The Valley of the Shadow represents all the reasons why the Separation formed in the first place. When this situation involves people separating themselves from other people, the Shadow Effect is created because there are aspects of your "other" that you have difficulty accepting as self. Until now, your focus in Reconnection has been to examine this other person, and mentally analyze what it is about this person that you have been denying in yourself. And this is all very good. It feeds your consciousness, and expands awareness. But there is more to full integration than that.
The reason you find it hard to "digest" certain types of people into your Oneself Body stems not from what exists in that person, but what is missing in you. We call your attention back to our analogy of Trans-Portals being similar to the human digestive system. When people demonstrate an "allergy" to certain foods, it usually stems from some *processing element* (like an enzyme, for example) that is missing from their digestive process. For some reason, their body doesn't create that chemical, and the whole process suffers because of it. Despite their best attempts to prepare the offending foods properly, with style and variation, the digestive system continues to have problems until the necessary supplement gets added to the process.
Not all the people and situations you encounter in physical space are meant to become permanent parts of your life. Sometimes, they simply appear as catalysts for you to reach into your Multidimensional Self and discover new qualities or elements that you have forgotten. And, during a time of conflict, your task of integration and acceptance may not always be focused upon the person who is irritating you. That may only be incidental to the bigger picture.
You must remember that both you and the people with whom you have conflicts are Multidimensional Beings. If you are having a dance with someone in current 3D reality, you can count on the fact that there are dances going on between you all up and down the vibrational spectrum---literally involving a whole spreadsheet of possible/probable contacts--many of which are quite pleasant.
The resolution of present-moment conflict with another person (or society, for that matter) is brought about by opening a Portal between the physical aspect of you that exists *here* and an alternative aspect of you that exists *elsewhere*---particularly an aspect that is currently enjoying harmonious contact with the very same type of energy which is giving you such heartburn in this current moment.
My Friends, if it were possible for you to analyze the energy "chemistry" of the version of you that exists HERE, and the alternative version of yourself that is functioning THERE, you would notice that one or more key elements are missing. To remedy this, an Astral Bridge is formed by taking a "soul sample" of that alternative self and infusing it into yourself here. This is all done in just the ways we outlined for you above.
Once the required "energy supplement" gets added to your digestive system, you will find that the whole TONE of your current relationships begin to change. And, it happens automatically, without conscious effort or struggle. The only thing you require is a clear statement of intent (which would be blending with a more Expanded Level of Yourself), and the faith that is required to bring it all about.
With all of this in mind, the process for Building Astral Bridges in a relationship would be as follows:
1. Notice the exact SENSE of dissonance that exists. Many people are not aware of their sensory impressions, or of any hard feelings that exist between themselves and others. The same is true with allergic foods. Because you aren't aware of what is happening, you keep eating the offending foods, and you keep Shadow Boxing in your current relationships, rather than calling for the necessary "medicine" to complete your process, so your systems can begin to function at a new level.
2. Notice how you FEEL when you are in the presence of your "other." How does your body react when he or she approaches you? This is very important information if you are going to command a "search engine" to locate an alternative version of you that can assist in the integration process.
***A Key Principle: The first step toward feeling better is becoming better at feeling.
3. Ask yourself what you WANT to be different in this relationship. When you do this please *do not* concern yourself with whether or not the change would be possible. Anything is possible if you can believe.
4. Make a clear statement of intent, asking your Multidimensional Self to help you find a "Guide" that possesses the "medicine" which you require. A statement that might serve the process might be:
"I am Stephen, of the Oneself. I am seeking to contact a level of my Multidimensional Self that is now enjoying a harmonious relationship with this energy currently mirrored to me in Fred. I wish to begin a blending, a sampling of energies with that Self, so that I may be transformed---so that I may be let go of all resistance to accept Fred as a valid and beautiful part of my universe. In faith, I believe. In perfect timing, I shall receive. So let it be."
(The wording will come to you when you are ready. These are not established formulas, but simply samples of what is possible if you are ready to move into this process)
5. Turn the outcome completely over to the universe. If the offending individual tries to engage you in debate, deep discussion, or argument, you can say to him (as politely as possible) "I am unable to discuss this with you now, but I will get back to you as soon as I can." Then, forget about it. Involve yourself with other tasks. Do not analyze it further, and do not approach the person (unless you must, in order to handle necessary business together) as long as there is any remnant of dissonance remaining. Your sense of continued discomfort is your indicator that the required "enzyme" has not yet spread itself throughout your system. And your relief from same will be your barometer concerning when you have had enough of this particular medicine.
If two individuals in a relationship space are performing this alchemical process together, it can be Onederful, but only one "operator" is really required. That is because there is only one of you there anyway! When your "digestion" processes begin to change, you will be amazed at how your own perception of this person begins to shift. It will be like gazing at a hologram in a painting. The picture looks a certain way in one moment, and it changes completely in the next. Realize now that this is due, almost entirely, to energetic changes that have occurred in you.
Reconnection to Oneness involves making contact, first and foremost, with your Expanded Self, with your own "Big Story." Only then will your "small story" sub-plots begin reflecting the harmony that is your birthright. As the Psalm clearly states: "Yea, though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow..........I will fear no evil.......for thou art with me." In these powerful days of Phase Shifting and Alchemical Blending, the Expanded Oneself is not just with you.......He/She/We are *within you* as well. You will be rapidly developing your own functional immunity to the many energetic "diseases" that have troubled your soul during this outgoing Paradigm of Separation. In fact, the very word "immune" almost brings to mind the words "I AM IN YOU," does it not? And so it is becoming, My Friends.
STANDING ON A MOUNTAIN TOP
It is the privilege of The Reconnections to "fill in all the gaps" that separate your Limitation Self from your Expanded Self. We do it slowly, and with much love. There is no need to rush. You have all the time in the world. Each of you came to this place from realms of expression that were nothing less than fantastic. In your "former estate," you were able to do or have anything you wished, just by thinking it. Being natives of such splendor, you yearned for a vacation, of sorts. You wanted to know what it would be like to embody *something* rather than to be *everything.* You wanted to distinguish yourself from others, from various objects and animals, and you wanted to learn what it feels like to need.
Soon your research project will be completed. Has this form of reality gotten your goat? Never fear, he's right up there.......perched upon that mountain top. Watch him as he leaps from peak to peak, with perfect grace, perfect ease. Travel freely the Bridges Across Forever!
There are Portals, Gates, Bridges, and Inner Pathways all around you.......each volume on a bookshelf, each picture that is hanging on the wall. Words can be a Portal, a statue can be one, or even a rose. An encounter with any symbol can be a spark of remembrance, leading you through a perceptual doorway---into a limitless storehouse of possible/probable versions of that same one thing. Connect two of them, or three, or four.........and the dance goes on into infinity.
Some of you will begin to perceive immediately, with no help. Others may need to initiate visualization or meditation processes to tap into their stored memories. All you need do is drop your shields, and the guiding energy will begin to open your eyes. Some will do it sooner, others will do it later. Each person to his own plan, and his own style of unfoldment. As we have said previously, each event is its own miracle. However, some people require more "nudges" than others in order to shake off their slumber.
Remember that everything is perfect, and everything is there, filed neatly within the Multiverse. The primary purpose of your physical journey is to explore details, and make alchemical adjustments before you make the leap to more expanded realms. As always, we shall be available to you on the inner planes. Look for us there, and we shall appear to you in whatever form you require.
Weesp is an upscale suburb of Amsterdam. It is a relaxed and charming place; perhaps too charming. The overabundance of delectables found there, both culinary and scenic, may in rare circumstances expose the unsuspecting tourist to certain risks. Such knowledge I found out the hard way. In wandering around the town, it didn’t take long for weakness and enervation to take hold. Later I learned that these were symptoms of a common complaint that may undo even the most vigorous visitor to Weesp: a surfeit of scenery and cappuccinos. Things came to a dangerous corner for this correspondent when there was a fainting episode on a quaint wooden drawbridge bedecked with a conglomeration of opulent hanging baskets. Here was manifest for the amusement of the local Weespians, another affliction common to out-of-towners; a petunia overdose...something Wilford Thesiger never had to worry about when he prepared to traverse the Empty Quarter.
After recovering from this frightening episode, the real reason for our visit to such a deceptive place came back to mind: to bring home a quantity of the local culinary delicacy, the wonderful almond-paste infused cookies made only there and nowhere else; the celebrated Weesper Moppen. From infancy I had been nurtured with the conviction that if ever I found myself in Weesp, buying a bushel of these rare crackers was a sacred duty....right up there with being able to run a four minute mile in twelve, and to play Hava Nagila “in-tune” on the viola.
With this charge in mind, we searched high and low amongst the narrow streets and canals of the town for these biscuits, but it must have been a day-off for the purveyors of the delicacy, for not one moppen made an appearance. Perhaps the elusive treasures showed themselves only during Dutch-Reformed Church festival weeks or the days surrounding the inauguration of the Weesp Community School Board. With frustration and sadness, we left the town with backpacks empty, vowing to return. To travel across the ocean, risk the bureaucratic entanglements of the Dutch border police (claimed by some to be the most scrutinising and capricious in the world) and only devote one day to such an important quest, would be a sad capitualition. Off we went to Muilden to see the incomparably quaint and historic Muiderslot Castle. But that is another story.
Back in Weesp the next day, we resumed the search. In the interest of contributing to the literature of abnormal psychology, it would be helpful to describe the cause of such compulsive culinary determination. Also, aren’t you dying to know? It is “a story unto itself” (to quote S.J. Perelman or the Kabala... I’m not sure which) a tale sadly rooted in the subtle machinations of a complex and sensitive psyche. That pioneering code-cracker Oliver Strachey would throw up his hands in defeat when confronted with such a tangled web; Professor Alfred Adler would lock the door to his consulting room at the prospect of having to hear the peevish ululations he knew would fill the next 45 minute consultation.
You guessed it bubba......the konk I'm referring to is my own.
In truth, leaving Weesp after our first visit without a container of Weesper Moppen was weighing on me; it was meddling with my mind. How such a trifling lacunae in the life of one who has faced far more grievous injuries and shrugged them off like they were lighter than a crown of feathers was proof of how spiritual obligations handed down through countless generations are able to topple even the heartiest specimen. What about the future? How could I return home to face the taunts of my own culinary community? The maledictions of my tribe were already audible in my frantic mind:
"There's the man who went to Weesp and couldn't find any Moppen”
Or even more damning:
He can uncover invertible counterpoint in a chaconne by Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber...he can find a viola da gamba consort in a suburb of Schenectady...but he can't find a friggin' Moppen in Weesp. What a rube..."
After a hearty meal and a few pours of Juttertje on the local Oudegracht to help fortify ourselves for the travails that we feared lay ahead, our convivial tavern host came to the rescue. Although we didn't know at the time that he was giving us directions to his brother-in-law's bakery (how could we have known?) the gent couldn't have been more gracious and informative. Armed with his excellent directions, my usual stratagems to get completely lost came to naught. That the bakery was directly next door helped us arrive at the MOPPEN PALACE (for such was the name of the shop) in less than an hour.
There it was, five steps away (which, as it turned out, was quite a distance (as I wear size 12s wide); the object of my geographical and spiritual travels. I could return to Mil-town, not only with an abundance of Weesper Moppens in my pocket, but with my head held high.
We went in there.
Could it be that our arrival at the bakery was expected? What brought this irrational suspicion to mind was the remarkable scene that was being enacted as we entered. Evidently, there had been a sudden change in prices of the pastries, because the agile proprietor was high up on a ladder, changing the advertised cost of the delicacies. Being unfamiliar with the subtle machinations of Dutch inflation, said by those in the know to be the most variable in the world, the optimist in me was able to cast aside any paranoia that might be inspired by such a scene. Undoubtedly the good baker was reducing the cost of the cookies by half in honor of the arrival of his distinguished customers. As usual, my market timing was impeccable. We wisely “bought the dip” and left the store with a gross of the wafers.
Damn those Weedpmoppen were tasty. Half of what we purchased was devoured before we left the country. The other half arrived back in Milwaukee to show off to an envious community. To them, I had only one snippet of advice. A weakening memory has erased what it was, but I do remember telling my former friends that down my hatch had just disappeared the last crumbly delights of that sublime confection; further mentioning that they were exquisite beyond anything Julia Child could concoct on a good day.
Also mentioned by way of comfort was that, for a small cash contribution to my great-grand nephew's college fund, I would be happy to divulge an address searched for by many and known to only a few: The MOPPEN PALACE in Weesp.

When we think of having an "out-of-body" experience, we might think of near-death encounters or occurrences that are so surreal, they seem to take you out of your current reality. But the mystical practice of astral projection actually allows people to have spiritual, out-of-body experiences intentionally. You've probably heard the term in passing before, and perhaps are even familiar with the idea of meditating to the point of leaving your body — which sounds kind of supernatural. But turns out the meaning of astral projection is a lot more than that. The concept of astral projection hinges on the belief that in addition to our physical bodies, humans also have an "astral body," which is sometimes referred to as an etheric body, subtle body, or light body. This might also be thought of as your "soul." In many esoteric practices, there is also something called an "astral plane" — and it's through this plane that people can explore during astral projections. The astral plane is considered to be the home of not only souls finding their way to their their next life or final resting place, but also angels and spirits. Accounts of astral traveling are found in cultures from all around the globe and throughout history, and it's also commonly practiced today in modern-day mystic and spiritual practices. "Astral projection or astral traveling is the ability to allow your light body (or what I call our ‘traveling’ selves), to venture beyond the physical body and project itself to a specific place, and even particular sites in time," ascension guide and quantum shaman Laura Brown tells Bustle. "I have worked with astral projection to witness ancient civilizations and other sacred spaces on the earth, and have also used it to connect with further realms to gain insight for my [spiritual work]." This practice allows our astral body to travel beyond the material world around us using our minds. According to believers, we can then venture into etheric realms that transcend time and space — sort of like having a dream, except you're awake and aware of what's happenin. Before you write it off for being too supernatural-sounding, consider that some practitioners liken astral projection to simply entering a dreamlike state while conscious — similar to the practice of lucid dreaming while you're asleep. During this conscious and lucid dream-like state, the goal is to transcend your physical being through your mind. Your physical body stays put through the astral projection process, and the adventure takes place entirely in your mind. Astral projection isn't considered a science, since it involves esoteric matters such as the etheric body and the astral plane. But just as we can enter different states of consciousness through things like dreaming or meditation, it makes sense that some people are able to achieve this through astral projection, too. This theory is explored in a paper published in the Frontiers of Human Neuroscience, in which researchers observed a subject's brain using an MRI while she claimed to be in a state of astral projection. They were able to successfully identify unique parts of the brain that were active during her journey, which helped shine some light on what's happening in one's head during such a spiritual journey. While science may not be able to prove that your soul is out on an adventure, it's clear that there's some interesting brain activity happening that points to an altered state of experience.

YOU ARE AN ENERGY BEING
Firstly, consider that everything in the universe of form or matter, is comprised of energy, of ‘vibration’ - including you. You are an energy being (a being of pure spirit) who’s core intelligence is SOUL. As a soul and a vibratory ‘spiritual’ energy being, you are also a light being, creating your human life and all of your physical experiences via the direction of your thoughts, your feelings and your divine will. It’s your intentions, whether conscious or not that direct and therefore, form your reality. The more aware you become of your energy being and your power to create (and destroy) the more conducive your manifestations become. In other words, you realise that what you focus upon, you can create. So, you can choose to create conscious experiences which uplift and inspire, rather than creating unconscious experiences (unwise choices) which may cause you frustration or pain. All choice is with you. PLANETARY INFLUENCES
Just as you are a soul and vibratory energy being, your physical body is made of energy. You are ever morphing, refining and defining yourself and as such your body shifts and changes with you. Likewise, you’re constantly interacting with other souls, energy beings - humans, animals, plants, minerals and planetary influences on both a physical and non-physical level. Energy infiltrates many different dimensions at once. We live in a multi-verse of vibration - of light and sound. Just like the weather can lift or deflate your mood, so do the planetary movements have an impact on your energy levels and your rate of growth. While you inhabit a human body on Earth, you are in a constant dance and rhythm with multi-dimensional cosmic energetics, which include planetary movements and influences in our local solar system and even beyond. As a human, your physical body serves as a primary vehicle for experiences that will facilitate the growth and expansion of your soul. Souls love to learn and grow through the process of not only physical evolution, but also of spiritual evolution. Souls are in a constant state of evolution, accelerated by the growth of the cosmos and accompanying planetary cycles. And over the past 100 years (in particular) we’ve seen a spike in the number of people who are aware of their energetic (spiritual) nature.
THE GROWTH OF YOUR BEING AND COSMIC EXPANSION
In particular, since the turn of the millennia in 2000, a great cycle of change began on Earth. One great cosmic cycle completed and thrust us all into preparation for the fourth and fifth dimensional reality to come online. In the past, Earth was considered to be a 3D teaching planet. A planetary experience that teaches us about the physical perspective of life. But, over the past 20 years that energy has shifted ever higher, as our entire solar system has been flooded in light, which has raised the vibration on Earth through the 4D level (where time seemingly morphs) to the level of 5D (having an awareness that you are an energy being experiencing physical life). Have you had your wake-up call into the higher realms of spirit since 2000? So many in our community of light have.
4D into 5D
As our world has progressively been challenged to wake-up and grow over the last 20 years, with the sharing of ideas and information now becoming near instant, the concept of ‘time’ and the gap between ‘thought and thing’ has diminished. The fourth dimensional level reality (of time) was reached back in 2010 (the true 2012) and in the decade since, we’ve prepared for 5D (the dimensional reality of spirit).
This 5D level of awareness (a creational energy template) finally embedded around our planet back in June 2019. We had reached a critical mass of souls who had risen in consciousness to a high enough level, to bring the 5D reality in for all.

The past 12 months - energy ascension
Living with a 5D influence for over 12 months now, has been accelerating everyone’s energy. For indeed, when you’re aware of and working with your spiritual reality (the fifth dimension of light) you accept ‘change’ as being a fundamental foundation of spirit - of who you are. And as such, a wave and ever-increasing movement of change (an ascension) has been building upon Earth. You’ve felt it and it has had an impact on your energy - and your body on all levels.
ENERGY ASCENSION AFFECTS YOUR PHYSICAL BODY VIA YOUR ENERGY FIELD
As an energy being you have many layers to your body created by the soul (which is at the core and emanating through all). Each layer of your energy body interpenetrates the other. Your energy body layers are a part of you. Even though they may be invisible to your physical sight, you can feel them with practice. Consider that your entire body (your body of light) is far more complex than just the physical.
It’s the layers of your energy body, which create your field of light (your auric field) through which you experience, interchange with and interpret life. It’s via your auric field layers that your physical body receives messages and guidance and its template is formed and maintained.
The major body layers (which form your energy field or aura) include :
the outer most cosmic layer
the angelic/spiritual layer
the heart and soul travel layer
the mental/directive layer
the emotional/feeling layer
the physical template/blueprint
and the physical body
NON-PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION
As you become aware of the entirety of your body, your physical body through to all of the layers of your energy body (your energy field), you become more open to non-physical communication. This allows you to more readily experience your outer body layers, opening you up to the spiritual side of life via the higher dimensions beyond the third ‘physical’ dimension. And because so many people have been waking up and raising their awareness beyond 3D, we now have a critical collective mass of souls who are aware of the fifth dimension (5D) interpenetrating Earth.
This means that they realise how responsible they are for their own energy health and well being and that of others and the planet. For it’s your energy body which is communicating with the environment (the cosmos) around you and of course, with all others.
AS YOUR OUTER BODY LAYERS GROW AND ACTIVATE - YOUR PHYSICAL BODY CHANGES
And because of this higher awareness (of 5D) that so many are opening up to, they’re experiencing very ‘real’ changes to their physical body, as a result. For the outer energy layers of our body bring information down into the physical body to shift and change it to match our outer layers of creation and perception. As you activate and grow on the outer levels (with the information you draw in from the ever changing cosmos), eventually your physical body follows suit - it changes to embody more light.
COMMON 5G ASCENSION SYMPTOMS
And so, there are many ways in which your physical body will show symptoms of bringing through higher dimensional awareness.
Below, I have listed the most common, but there are more.
As always, whenever you have ongoing physical symptoms, I encourage you to seek advice from a healthcare professional of your choice. Have the physical checked out and seen to. What can happen is that if you have ignored symptoms of change for so long (as they’ve filtered down through your outer body layers) that by the time the 5D changes gets down to the physical body, you literally may have a physical problem that needs to be corrected. IMPORTANT: TAKE NOTE OF YOUR CHANGES ‘AS THEY HAPPEN’
The ADVANTAGE of being aware of changes to your energy field before your physical body is affected (in a possibly painful way) is that you get to make LIFESTYLE CHANGES as and when you’re directed to. You then are not ignoring your change instructions and are not making them when it’s too late and your physical body is crying out for assistance. Accept your energy changes as they happen and you’ll have a much more enjoyable, smoother and rewarding experience of ASCENSION.
This is my list (in no particular order) of OVER 43 common ascension symptoms that I have seen in my work and what you can do to address them:
Headaches, migraines - fuzzy head - your brain is forming new neural pathways. You’re creating ‘new thought paths’. The more you accept newness without resisting, the easier this process will feel. Drink lots of water and rest during major cosmic events.
Spiritual Flu - This can be a combination of many of the physical symptoms listed. Even though you have flu like symptoms, you’re not actually ‘physically ill’. It’s more of an energetic sickness that passes over 24-48 hours. It can often feel like a ‘spiritual fire’ is rising within you - cleansing and clearing any toxic energy in your cells and bringing them up to a higher, finer vibration.
Dizziness - This can happen around big cosmic events like solar flaring, eclipses and super moons. Ground yourself by breathing up through your feet. Connect with the Earth for sustenance and stability.
Ears receiving high-vibration sounds - This will sound like a tuning fork being struck in one ear or the other. A high vibration sound slowly tunes in and then out. It doesn’t hurt and is random (this is not the same as tinnitus). Ear downloads are the way that high vibration 5D information is absorbed by your energy body. All is sound. You’re receiving instructions on your next steps. You may not be able to decipher what the messages mean. Just pause, allow them to absorb and say, ‘Thank you’.
Thymus fluttering, sometimes felt as heart palpitations - Your thymus gland is your gland of spiritual awakening. It’s shaped like a butterfly and sits over the sternum in the middle of your chest. You can tap it with your two middle fingers to ground yourself as it flutters, when you’re growing in spiritual awareness. It can often be mistaken for feeling like your heart is palpitating or skipping a beat. This feeling comes and goes, particularly when your heart and ‘high heart‘ (the energy centre of the thymus) are expanding. The vagus nerve which runs down the side of the neck is also linked into the heart and when stimulated (as your neck becomes tight, perhaps from resistance to your incoming life changes) this can also serve to awaken the heart energy field and cause an expansion (fluttering) of consciousness.
Blurry eyes, sore eyes, eye ticks - Your eyes can become inflamed and sore when life is changing very quickly before you. Your third eye may be developing, as your inner sight expands and your intuition and psychic abilities - telepathy grows. Rest your eyes frequently by closing them and being still. Waking up between 2.00 and 4.00am - This is the hour of the night when energy is still and soul becomes active. You can clear much from your mind, if you awaken during this period. You’re receptive to hearing the voice of soul. Greater clarity comes during these hours, as your personality is quiet. Wake-up, meditate, write down your thoughts, then when you go back to sleep, it’s likely you’ll have prophetic dreams (dreams with important messages that you’ll remember). Some people may even astral travel after going back to sleep - i.e have an outer body experience and be conscious of life continuing on, outside of the physical body while in the dream state.
Sore muscles and joints - This can be caused by old, toxic energy leaving your cells. When powerful planetary alignments take place, it’s important to MOVE your body to assist in the assimilation of higher vibration. If you do not, energy can become stuck and cause painful muscles and joints.
Heat rising in the body - Similar to ‘spiritual flu’, this can often occur ‘early on with some regularity’ during your spiritual awakening journey. I liken it to the spiritual fire of ‘soul’ waking up within you and burning away illusion, bringing in energetic truths. Rest and drink lots of water when this occurs, as it will pass and reveal greater awareness and a clearer direction when complete.
Dropping objects, clumsiness - This tends to occur when your paradigm has been challenged and your old ways no longer serve you well. You’re being guided to change your ways, to focus more in the moment and not get distracted by many things at once.
Anxiety - Many 'Empaths’ may feel anxious because of the lower-level (often negative) energy that they pick up and absorb from others and a toxic environment. When there is a lot of cosmic activity, you could feel anxiety rise, accompanied by many of the physical symptoms from this list. If you are sensitive to other’s energy fields, being aware of your abilities is key. Pull your awareness in closer to your own energy field, rather than extending it out to meet others. Look after yourself by focusing on what you love.
Loss of memory - This often happens when you grow in self-awareness. You become more interested in ‘the moment’ than the past. And hence, you may not even remember (at a glance) what you did this morning - by lunch time today. You’ll need to slow down your thinking in order to recall. High-vibration energy (5D) keeps you in the moment where all-power and potential exists.
Inability to sleep - This can happen when there is much change stirring within you and you’re unsure of what to act upon first. Your personality is over-thinking and over-processing potential problems and solutions. Many also resist the soul assisting the personality and so try to avoid sleep. It’s during sleep that the release valve on your day is set off. Try meditation before sleep or reading a spiritual text (like The Tip-Off) - it always sets you on a path to greater insight during sleep, bodily repair and upgrade time.
Higher expectations from yourself and others - When you wake-up and ascend on your 5D consciousness path you desire to act with authority, integrity and spiritual excellence. Hence, you’ll expect more from yourself each day and ultimately from those around you too. You’ll put pressure on yourself and others. You’ll come to learn that we are all at different levels of evolution and so over time, the expectations you have of others will wain. Instead you’ll apply your own changes (to yourself first and foremost) and then see them ‘naturally’ affect change in others. This is when spiritual wisdom and maturity dawns.
Relationship strains and changes - Ultimately as you elevate in awareness of who you are as a soul on a human journey, your relationships will shift (until you come to be in the company of others like you, who have remembered who they are). Those close will feel that ‘you’ve changed’ because you have. Awareness reveals the truth within one - no more pretending. You’ve broken down the outer defense shield. So, you’ll need to move through a period of time where you’re either explaining yourself and your truth to others, seeing if they’ll come on board and grow along with your new sense of spiritual truth, or some will need space from those close. Some relationships can continue and deepen, while others will need to be conducted at a distance or not at all.
A growing need to break free - This can be accompanied by many of the physical symptoms. If you've been off purpose for too long, you’ll feel the desire to change everything at once and just be free of old restraints and ways. Take practical daily steps, as you see fit. One step at a time towards positive change can make a huge difference (and put you at ease) in your desire to be free.
Career dissatisfaction - This goes along with a desire to break free. As you become aware of your spiritual reality and are working in tune with cosmic energy each day, the dissatisfaction you may feel in your career or work can increase. This is because you have a growing need to ‘be on purpose’ and if you feel your talents and skills are not being utilised in your work - then you may want to change onto a path that does uplift you and bring great reward and satisfaction. Some people, may realise that their current career is right and they just need to be more of themselves within it. While others will need a complete career path change. A strong desire to find your purpose - This goes along with a desire to break free and can also include career dissatisfaction. One of the great consequences of ascension is the urge for soul to move you onto your purpose for incarnating on Earth in human form. It can become an insatiable urge to remember who you are and what you’re here for. I have a powerful meditation that can assist you.
Lethargy - This can occur when you’re not treating your physical body well during periods of pronounced cosmic energy shifts. Ensure that you address your diet when in ascension mode and consume high-frequency (fresh, plant based foods) and drink lots of filtered water - limit processed foods (although many will over-consume these in an attempt to feel good). Also, ensure that you move your body daily and practice applying what you’re discovering about your reality each day. Action moves lethargy.
Some need less sleep - Many will be so awake, excited and inspired that they need less sleep. Follow your individual call.
Greater empathy and compassion - As you deepen your ascension process the energy centre of your heart will expand and create a greater field of compassion around your physical body. You’ll more easily feel what others feel and pick up on energy from your environment. Tears and emotions can be strong, usually during heightened periods of cosmic activity. Use what you feel and pick up on to be kinder to yourself and affect positive change in your own life - first and foremost.
Change of diet - It’s hugely common that once you wake-up and ascend you feel the intuitive urge to clean up your diet. I remember back in the mid-90’s (when I first woke-up) one of the first practices I was intuitively guided towards was becoming vegetarian - which I did, even though it wasn’t that popular 25 years ago. I loved the immediate effects upon my life. I eventually became vegan and with the range of plant-based, organic (in-season) foods on offer today, it’s easier than ever. I credit changing my diet (straight away as I woke up) to having accelerated my spiritual growth and increased my empathy and compassion (oneness) for all sentient beings of the light. Follow your personal calls to change your diet, as you see fit.
Shifting friendships and rifts can grow within families - This goes hand-in-hand with ‘relationship shifts and changes’. Family and longstanding friendships (in particular) will notice changes within you, when you begin to wake-up and grow. They’ll say, ‘You’ve changed’. You have! They may take issue with it, as they want the ‘old you’ back - particularly if they haven’t woken up and/or have no indication that they will - you’ll be challenging them. This can often be one of the most difficult ascension symptoms to assimilate, as you feel long-standing loyalty to family and friends. However, there is no going back once you begin to ascend. So, each of us has to decide how we choose to interact with family and friends who are no longer in alignment with us. Some go quiet, and plan a path away from old influences. Some try and change those around them (this may or may not work, as all souls have free will). And some may accept that a new path awaits them - which will bring in new friends and possibly means a changed relationship with family, meaning little or no contact. Increased telepathy and psychic powers - As your inner sight opens and clears (your third eye) your telepathic abilities (sending and receiving energy messages on the spiritual planes) will naturally increase. Indeed, now that a 5D energy template is fully operational around Earth, it’s easier than ever to trust in and use your telepathic and psychic skills. What you focus on can manifest at lightning speed, for positive or negative effect. So, being self-responsible for how you direct yourself is key in 2020 and beyond. Noticing double/triple digit numbers - The SIGNS - Number sequences will begin to jump out at you. Soul resonates with the language of numbers. Numerical sequences form the matrix of reality. And hence, when you see them in uniform sequence i.e 11:11, 2:02, 3:33 etc. these become markers, serving to wake-you up and point you in the direction of higher consciousness. When you see a number sequence, simply pause - take note and say, ‘Thank you’. Then go about your day and wait for further instructions to drop into your awareness - as they will.
A thirst for ancient, esoteric knowledge - You may find that answers call from our ancient past. You’ll begin searching for buried truths that mainstream archeology dismisses. An interest in ancient technologies, practices and connections with the stars with call. The ancient Egyptian, Syrian, Mayan, Indian, Aboriginal and ALL indigenous cultures will appeal. Dive in deep and love what you find. Goddess cultures may also call - a time on Earth when the feminine (creative) was elevated above the masculine. Meditating, taking up yoga or healing arts - This goes hand-in-hand with a change in diet and all of the other ascension symptoms. You’ll feel your physical body changing (bringing in more light) and as a result you'll feel the urge to practice exercise and healing techniques that help you to master your energy flow. These practices can accelerate your spiritual growth.
A need to take action - Where you’ve been sitting back unsure or unmotivated, once ascension begins you’ll likely feel the need to move and be active along your path. Some people may want to tackle many changes all at once. Go at your pace and apply what you know. Walking your spiritual talk is imperative to being grounded and authentic when embracing 5D ascension.
OBE’S - conscious outer body experiences - This can occur when you awaken early in the morning (and then go back to sleep), between 2.00 am - 4.00am. You may have a lucid dream at first (you know you’re dreaming within the dream) followed by a rumbling in your body and a feeling that you’re tearing away from the physical body. You could find that your astral or energy body is travelling through different dimensions - and you’re conscious of it. This can happen quite spontaneously for many and may never happen at all for others. It takes practice to master being out of your body and will teach you much about the cosmic nature of reality.
Tears flowing - overly emotional - This occurs in line with the heart field expanding and your empathic skills developing. This means that water is flowing in your physical body, cleansing and clearing old, stuck energy in the process. It can be a very positive sign. If you become overly emotional, you can ground yourself by stepping outside barefoot into nature and allowing the outdoor energy flow to naturally reset you.
Increased self-awareness of your old patterns - As your consciousness grows, so does your ability to reflect and make self-responsible determinations of where and how you’ve developed repetitive patterns because of choices you’ve made. With considered insight comes the ability to consciously choose and shift your patterns to a higher energy flow. You do this with daily action steps.
Vivid dreams - This goes hand-in-hand with OBE’S and waking up in the early hours. Soul is wide awake and directing you to learn more about who you are through the dream state. You’ll also be cleansing and gaining clarity on past situations and future visions. Keep a notebook near your bed and write down whatever you can remember, as soon as you wake, before it slips from your consciousness. You’ll learn much from your dream states. Focus on the ‘feelings’ in your dreams, They tell you everything.
Being hugely creative and inspired - With a higher vibration being channeled through you, creativity surges. You could find that you’re constantly being inspired with new ideas. I suggest that you implement your ideas - one at time. Try them out and act on what you receive. Soul loves it when you apply your direction. Not applying your creativity can result in pent up energy stifling you.
Sinuses running / increased sneezing - As your third eye (the awakening pineal/pituitary gland in concert with the heart - the inner pyramid of truth) comes on line, you could find that your sinuses run - and you could experience sneezing fits. Stomach irritation and irregular bowel movements - As old energy and lower vibration moves though your physical body, you could notice that you ‘let go’ with increased movement in your stomach and bowels. You quite literally can either release a flood of old energy via the bowels or resist it leaving and then feel constipated. Water helps to clear you, as does rest. Such physical irritations and cleansing usually clear up as you let go and as, powerful planetary influences pass.
Lower back issues - Issues of feeling supported (or not) often play out in our lower back. You could find that as you change and others around you do not, you could feel frustrated and like you’re all out on your own. This is often when backs can seize up - as you feel unsupported and can manifest this feeling in your back - which supports your body. Tell yourself that there is plenty of support all around you and that you’re truly capable. Lie on the ground, outdoors (or against a tree) for great healing relief.
Upper back pain or itching between the shoulder blades - Right in between your shoulder blades is where your ‘wings of light’ are located. See my recent blog post on this. Your etheric wings open up and extend, as you further develop your light body and spiritual energy field. This can cause a tightness and itching in the upper back area, as well as a heaviness in your shoulders, as your wings slowly open. Once unfurled, you’ll feel an elevated lightness in your upper back and ability to more easily rise above and see the bigger picture of all. This can take some time to be achieved. Be patient.
Sore neck and shoulders - You could find that your neck becomes stiff (extending down to your shoulders) when you’re not accepting the new information and higher vibration coming down into your physical body. Be flexible and allowing of change. Recognise that there are many ways to achieve your goals. Practicing openness and dropping fear of the unknown will assist. Challenge yourself daily.
Wanting to be on your own - Many feel the need to cocoon off from others and their old way of life when ascending in 5D consciousness. This incubation period helps one to know themselves without distraction and can be vital to your spiritual growth. If you live or work with others and cannot be on your own, you may notice that you become emotionally and mentally distant. Be aware that they may not understand. Explain that you just need some quiet time to go within. Allow others to grow with you, if they choose.
Growing in personal power - You’ll begin to feel more confident in who you are (all of you) the more that your consciousness grows. Authenticity flows, as the person you are on the outside is a direct reflection of who you are on the inside. You move into alignment with soul and your path of light. You act with integrity and higher consideration and respect for yourself and others. This is personal power.
Feeling that everything you’ve ever known has been a lie - As your 5D awareness grows and you reflect deeply on your past, you could feel that everything you’ve ever known and/or have been taught has been a lie. It’s not a lie, it’s just that you haven’t tapped into the wholeness of multi-dimensional reality. Rather than becoming angry or frustrated, you can become excited instead. Your growing awareness now means that you can see how your ‘will’ and choices direct your life. You now become responsible for where you take yourself in life and that equates to personal freedom and equals personal power.
Bouts of euphoria - followed by feeling low - With 5D ascension and shifting daily planetary influences, you can experience bouts of being on a high, followed by days when your energy feels lower. These lower periods are the ‘assimilation’ periods. After growth, you need to stabilise and allow yourself to rest. It’s just like working out a muscle with weights. You push it past its limits, then rest and during the rest period (the low) it grows stronger. Spiritual growth (ascension) works in exactly the same way. So, on slower days - you’re not really low, you’re just assimilating your changes and growth, before getting ready to expand again.
Shortness of breath - Along with heart expansion during 5D ascension, your lungs are taking in greater capacity for life. And so, you could find that as your energy field grows, you experience a sporadic shortness in breath. Deep breathing, right down into your belly (in through the nose and out through the mouth) assists with a more even breath - of the in and out flow.
Indeed, these are but ‘some’ of the symptoms of 5D ascension and your rising awareness of expanded consciousness. I trust that this blog post has provided you with reassurance that all is well on your path. And that the more aware you become of your amazing energy body, the more you’ll accept the challenge and elation of your spiritual growth. This makes ‘ascension symptoms’ easier to recognise, assimilate and ultimately master.
