Anderson, Indiana (May 21, 2011) – The Little 500 Car Show has become one of Anderson, Indiana’s top downtown attractions. This year marked the 9th Annual Little 500 Downtown Car Show in Anderson. It might seem almost undoable to put together such an amazing event like the one today in our hard-hit economy. It just goes to prove what kind of spirit and resilience the people that live in Anderson, Indiana have. Today’s show was nothing less than terrific. The staff of AIMS said they had 115 registered entries for today’s car show. It would not surprise me if the actual number of cars on display was quit a bit more.

Put together each year by the staff of AIMS’s, under the leadership of Lori Sylvester and scores of volunteers, the AIMS Little 500 Car show brings together some of the areas top vintage cars, trucks and coolest Hot-Rod’s.

The Little 500 has also become another kind of showcase. On top of the wonderful automotive heritage on display throughout downtown it also brings together the greatest group of people you’ll find anywhere and they are the people who work and live in the Anderson, Indiana area.

This annual event takes place each May just prior to the running of “The Greatest Spectacle on Earth”, the Indianapolis 500. If you didn’t make it to this year’s event be sure to add it to your list of things to do next year.

Sylvester looks like such a doofus when he's licking spoons.

So, today we lost our lovely cat Sylvester.

He'd been missing a couple of days but we weren't overly worried as he would go walkabout every couple of months...

Decided this afternoon to ask the neighbours if they'd seen him as my son was worried about him. They hadn't seen him but my son asked if he could walk around the block and call for him. Within about 30 seconds his calls were answered with a frantic mewing from a garden about 3 doors down from us.

Poor old chap was unable to walk and under a tree and obviously very relieved to see us. We got him into a cat box and off to the vets. I'd warned my son that it didnt' look good and not to get his hopes up as he was such an old boy (18 yrs old)

Unfortunately I was right. The vet reckoned that he'd had a blood clot which had travelled from his heart to his pelvic area which had basically paralysed his back end. He was in a great deal of pain and very distressed so suggested that the kindest thing would be to let him go.

C was of course distraught but insisted on us staying with him whilst they put him to sleep - heartbreaking, absolutely heartbreaking to watch my son lose his beloved pet.

So, Sylvester you old bugger - fare thee well, thanks for the rats and take care old pal.

xx

Another picture of Nesbert will be found as a young man, in the picture I provided of a Stuart family portrait, elsewhere on this photostream.

Nesbert was Joseph's older brother, by ten years. Joseph was born in 1900.
