Canon 20D in Aquatica underwater housing, Canon 10-22mm lens, manual exposure, two Ikelite underwater strobes, with diffusers for fill light, one set at 1/8 power the other at 1/4 power.
* This is done "WARRIOR STYLE"... using Quick Breathing and Long Warrior position kicking, in order to reset the flutter kick and head positioning, before and after the underwater recovery switching.
* This is the same as 6 Kick Switch, but the arms recover under the water, instead of over the water. Therefore, it is still considered a Kicking-Only Drill.
* It is best to save this drill for Precomp Level 2, or SFM Grade 9 swimmers, who should be able to do it on the Long Axis or with a "High Shoulder."
Another re-edit of one of my favourite photos I've taken.
Back in 2014 I worked on the short film 'Butterfly', Written and directed by Alex J. Withers and produced by Ciall Kennett.
Here you can see Louise Salter dive into the water, taken at the Olympic Pool in Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
More about the film can be seen on their facebook page - www.facebook.com/shortfilmbutterfly
A mom-duck gives her two eager little ones some swimming lessons. It was certainly hot enough to warrant a little splishing and splashing.
All of the neighborhood kids took swimming lessons from Mrs. McCloud in my Uncle Harry and Aunt Carol's pool next door. (That's the roof of my playhouse just over the fence) Each year we would have to jump in and swim with clothes on, to teach us what to do if we ever found ourselves in an emergency situation.
While I loved all of the other lessons, I *hated* this lesson and dreaded it every year. The feeling of wet shoes and socks and bulky clothes just felt so gross. That's why you see me sitting by the pool with a less than amused look on my face. Stacey Long is the one jumping in first, with her brother Todd in the "on deck circle"
Unlike a lot of the kids who were nervous and had to be coaxed off the diving board, Ava couldn't wait to get up there for her turn.
For any thoughts that these 'children' might be recognised out of the pool, they have the knowledge, that some of them might be recognised when they currently queue up to get their pensions or over 60s bus pass.

-First, you have to convince her she will be ok. She will be safe with Dad in the water. Next, she's holding on so tightly to her fish floatie, even though she's wearing a life jacket, has Dad holding her, and grandpa behind making sure nothing comes loose, untied, or let's go.
Finally, she relaxes and decides she can do this...WITH her floaties. :-)
