California Gulls swarming around Rockport Lake, Summit County, Utah. The California Gull is the Utah State Bird.

Cape Petrels, Cape Gannets, and Black-browed Albatross form a vortex over food-rich waters. If you look really close, there's also at least one White-capped Albatross, and a few Brown Skuas and Kelp Gulls in the swarm. Atlantic Ocean, about 30 miles west of Cape Town, South Africa

Honey Bee swarm in Annville, PA

a swarm of Semipalamted Sandpipers flies over the waters of the Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick. As high tide approaches the birds have to take to the air to find a safe place to land and wait for the waters to recede in order to get to their food source in the mudflats of the bay. This is their annual stopover point each summer before making a 3-4 day non-stop flight to South America-DSC_5156

It's a warm and quiet evening in mid-September and the gnats are swarming.

The bees swarmed out of one of the hives and landed low in a tree. Hubby was able to put a new hive box on the branch and they eventually all walked in.

In a scene that will most likely never be repeated, eleven NYS&W units are gathered at Susquehanna's Ridgefield Park locomotive facility. No fewer than nine wear "yellowjacket" paint. The two outliers are and ex-P&W B23-7 NYSW 2300 and ex-NS GP40 NYSW 3042. F45 3636 is even in the mix. A blue exhaust haze hangs over the area on what was a very frigid afternoon.

Director:Hes powering himself up...his power is guaged by how far he has spread..so...hes spreading himself wide and gaining his power back..To fight her...

Operator:But this stuff is only legend? hell myth even...

Director: Who do you think caused the black plague? Sars? Mustard gas? hell swine flu...thats him...hes kept it toned down since being with us..but thats all been him...

So..now all we can do is keep the sick alive til he finishes and stay clean out of his way...

Bee swarm at the shed entrance. About 50% of the hive swarm out with the old queen this is their way of reproducing. Roughly 25,000 - 30,000 bees are in a swarm. The swarm finds a place to start making a new hive.

. A newly immerged queen will take over, leaving the hive only to fly and mate on the wing with male bees (drones).
