Even scrap can have a bigger meaning, don't you think?

“I’ve learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.”

Pier Supports

The steel pier support columns are battered 24/7 by the powerful Solent waters..

We had a photographers meet up on Bamburgh beach this morning to photograph the last sunrise of 2016. It was good to catch up with a great set of photographers and mates the sunrise didn’t disappoint us either. With Alex Bell, Dave Surtees, David Burn, John Carson & Tony Dixon.

Happy New year everyone and thanks for your support throughout the year.

Thanks for looking.

I'd forgotten that our Banff tour hotel included a complimentary breakfast. So after mother and I both woke up early, we went out for a walk in search of breakfast instead of to the hotel restaurant.

The day was supposed to be rainy, so we were pleasantly surprised that the morning was sunny-blue-skies. We ended up in a Canadian coffee chain called the "Second Cup" to have breakfast. The error (of forgetting that we could have had breakfast for free) was a serendipity, as spending our final morning in Banff exploring the beautiful town certainly beats staying inside the hotel.

Years ago, a center support was added to the bridge for reinforcement due to the increased weight and volume of traffic. This is one of the main routes though the park even though the bridge is only one lane.

Mill Creek is exceptionally low for this time of year which allowed me to get right down under the bridge. The area in front of where I shot this photo is normally under water. I have marked the highest water level that I have seen and the high level from ealier this year with notes.

Arachnid threads with intriguing bokeh and diffraction as seen by a 50mm Nikon f1.8 lens - plus a bit of input from 3 extension tubes and Photoshop CC. This is a single exposure with the usual RAW processing tonal lifts and adjustments that the software is good at.

Saw this as a thumbnail & was quite taken by the strong structure of the image so decided to post it & see the reaction...

Show your support. May she make it through the night! This sounds familiar. It is doubtful that Americans could have won the war for independence if it wasn't for France. Just 1 countries support could change the world. If we are afraid of the consequences, than we don't deserve our freedom.

It's like the global warming parable:

You're starving and have a bag of wheat seeds. Do you eat the seed or plant it. Eat it and you'll starve after the seed is consumed. Plant it and you'll starve waiting for it to grow. Point is don't get to the point of starvation before you act.

Another concern I hear is that Russia may nuc us if we help. Funny thing about Symbolic Logic. In this case it says that the "if" statement doesn't need to be true for the "then" to happen. They may nuc us anyway.

"The Oath of Spartacus" by Louis Ernest Barrias is a work in marble based on a plaster model made in the Villa Médicis in 1869, installed in 1875 in the Tuileries garden (Paris, France). Source: Wikipedia.

It is a bit of a challenge to get into this spot under the Edgewater pier, but its worth the effort. Seeing the old pier supports sticking out of the water surrounding the pier and all these great lines and details. The monochrome treatment really helped the contrast pop, the colors on the underside and the muddy water color made this a less interesting shot.
