I made this about a week ago but never photographed it.
Oh and I cropped this using Piknik, is it back now?
If you fave I would greatly appreciate a legitimate comment. If you don't like it then don't fave and maybe give me some pointers.
Also if you give a good comment I wouldn't mind if you were to hit that fave button :)

"GOP, Generation Of Peace, 1972. Thank you for your support."
A block of political campaign stamps given to supporters and potential donors by Richard Nixon during his run for a second term as U.S. president in 1972. "GOP" refers here to "Generation of Peace," a phrase that Nixon used in speeches about ending American involvement in the Vietnam War, but it also means "Grand Old Party," which, of course, is another name for the Republican Party.

Can't help the feeling like my orchard is on life support. It is sad to think that once naturally productive soil has been obliterated by past and current cultural practices.
I will say that since its installation the soil is looking better and the trees are responding well.

Been longing to try the Auburn for a while so when I spotted this one I had a tingle and snapped it up.
Here's something from the way back machine!
I've been thinking about Comus a bit since ending up there a few days ago looking for trains on UP's Spine Line. I remembered there was an effort to build an ethanol plant near the junction there - Progressive Rail pushed hard for it, and it could have generated traffic for UP, IC&E, or CP, all of whom would have had access there. Through pure dumb luck, I happened to be out on December 29, 2006 - must have been home from college on winter break - and caught PGR dropping this rolling billboard on a siding right next to Highway 3 between Malt-O-Meal and Kwik Trip.
I need to go back and do some digging on what exactly killed the project near Comus, though from reading some of my captions from that time, it looks like it was local opposition (especially with respect to water consumption) and the global economy / gas prices crashing soon thereafter - I even see a mention of other ethanol plants that were under construction at the time getting shut down... so, perhaps PGR dodged a bullet in the end. They (Progressive Rail) threatened to develop a commercial site that couldn't be slowed by regulatory action in lieu of ethanol, should the plans be halted, but I imagine the economy at the time prevented that from happening... along with their large commercial development in Randolph.
In any event, enjoy this shot from a dozen years ago, when MN&S-esque SD39 and SW1500's roamed the rails in Northfield as God intended.

Unique type energy weapon, in part akin to archaic shotguns. In normal mode the four micro cells, calibrated using controls under the rear sight, allow fine control over the main fuel cell, emitting a 4 beam burst of variable (subject to calibration) intensity and delay.
In its alternate mode, a pump action of the type of old shotguns allows all four micro cells to dump their charge into the main fuel cell, with the pull of the trigger releasing a single powerful blast, tempered and focused (albeit only to a degree) by the cage over the muzzle.
