A couple hundred feet east of the 140th St. West dirt road entrance off of West Avenue D that I usually used to access the poppies.

I took a lot of photos of ugly stuff in with the poppies as part of an 'Oxymoron' theme - trash, barbed wire, rusted stuff, piles of wood, et al. This is the only one that I felt worked somewhat. Odd that it was on the only roll of film I shot. Minolta X-700 with the stock 50mm lens loaded with Fuji Fijichrome Provia 100F and developed by Richard Photo Lab in Valencia.

Located in a small basin created by a small outcropping of sand dunes in the middle of nowhere (35°04'36.7"N 118°00'13.8"W). Pretty much everything in the region has dried and gone to seed. There are a few Prince's Plumes here and there alongside the roads and trails, but this small spot has an abundance of them.

The panorama was created from fifteen images shot handheld and then stitched together with PanoramaStitcher for mac.

Timing is everything and this April I was fortunate enough to be able to make the 3+ hour drive to the Carrizo Plain National Monument. These flowers weren't easy to find, or at least it wasn't obvious that this sort of thick carpet and variety was out there, but some good luck and experience sure helped me out. My goal is to know all of these flowers by name some day.

I hope your 2019 is going well. Once I'm finished with my Masters program I hope to be more active on here.

This is a significantly reduced size image of a digital mosaic stitched photo. About 60 images were planar stitched by PanoramasStitcher to create a 460 megapixel image. Industar-37 f4.5 300mm lens mounted on a Omega-View 45E with a Sony a7 on the back. Location is 34.755185, -118.390907. Honestly, this doesn't look like much on the small screen - it was created to be printed HUGE for a "like being there" experience.
